Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2025/26

  • But J. Gray and Baird didn't play WCH and they managed to have a transfer extension from 16 august as for FIVB transfer page.

Also some of the Athletes Unlimited players had their transfer valid from 3 october (only the ones who didn't play at WCH).

And that is not the case for Schwerin and Dresdner players, ALL starting from 6 october (guess no time to make extension from 4 october for not participants to WCH at this point).

  • It is official competition. Belgium federation thought they could place it before 6 oct because wasn't league but didn't work. Also FIVB is not letting Cugno playing in regional competition in Brazil.

There was similar case last year in polish male second division. The play offs had to be rescheduled in the middle of final games in May cause they have been too long. FIVB reached out to the league and they had to change it from best of 5 to best of 3. And if I remember correctly it was after the second game of the finals, so there was a huge mess.

  • Anyone that can explain me how they will be able to play supercup on 4 october when fivb has a strict rule that club season can start only from 6 october? In Italy 1st round had to be moved on monday and in Belgium they had to cancel supercups because they were scheduled for 5 october.

Also all FIVB transfer for Schwerin and Dresdner (8 foreign players for each team) are valid only from 6 october.

Dutch supercup (5/10 for women and 19/10 for men) are also not postponed. Only Van Leusen at women’s side and Jorna at men’s side but still. In Belgian article it says French supercup was also moved. I read somewhere there’s no (financial) penalty for letting WCh players play, so maybe that’s why they’re “just” playing like nothing is wrong?

  • Happy to see ten Brinke as starter! I hoped to see one of Kok or Vos as starting outside hitter, but maybe they take their chance later!

  • Reesink already showing she is the weak link for Schwerin:gone:

  • Lavinska could easily play in a better league!

  • Miku Akimoto was voted MVP of the Supercup.

I haven't watched the match yet, but I thought Schwerin was going to win :/ Looks like Felix still has to figure out how to use his roster. Dresden's roster is much more limited, especially with Lorber Fijok being injured, but looks like they made the best of it today.

I think Kohn wasn't as good as last season, but that was to be expected after her bad performance in NT this summer. Jaksetic deserved more chances IMO, but when she came on court during the double sub, she didn't make the best impression either... Hope she will be get back to her old shape before her injuries! Reception wasn't good en Reesink was the biggest problem. She isn't able to cover her hitters. They should have hired a better back-up for her... Middle blockers did fine, Stuut should be used as much as possible in attack! Hölzig wasn't good at the desisive moments in attack, so Kok should be an option in this moments. Both Artyshuk and Kirchhoff seemed to have a weird aproach when they attacked the ball. They should find their connection with the setters.

Levinska and Akimoto were really good. Only Kuipers was bad for Dresdner but at the end she scored the 24-22 in 4th set with a very good spike and they can replace her with Lorber Fijok when she will be ready.

I wouldn't say Kuipers was bad. She did more than her job in reception! Whole team of Dresdner fought for every ball and that made a big difference!

  • In the final of the own Hummel Cup Stuttgart lost in four mostly close sets against Neuchatel from Switzerland, but the latter team is really good and might win also against Dresden and Schwerin. (they did in challenge cup 2024 against Dresden already, than as surprise).

  • Yesterday's Tagesspiegel article So geht es nach dem Rückzug des SC Potsdam für Volleyballerinnen und Liga weiter reports that, alongside Alina Nasin, Michelle Bachmann will be leaving Potsdam and joining another team. Leni Kirchhof, on the other hand, will concentrate on her Abitur and will now play for SC Potsdam's second team. The Märkische Zeitung article Insolvenzantrag: So geht es für die Volleyballerinnen des SC Potsdam weiter states that a total of three players could imagine playing with the second team. These are most likely Johanna Schütte and Jovana Dordevic. Unlike Leni Kirchhof, however, the two are not yet registered with the VBL for SC Potsdam's second team.

Seeing the stats I'd say they should just play MB-ball lol. Too bad they don't have the reception quality for it (I saw a part of set 2 and it was just tragic). It also looked like Akimoto was (almost) covering Jette in a few rotations, girlie looked so mature :rose:

  • Supercup statistics show a clear result: Dresden was much better in service (more aces, much less service mistakes) than Schwerin and overall produced less mistakes too.
