Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2025/26

  • It's SHTRAU-be. The "au" is pronounced like "ow" in how. The e in the end is indeed the same as in Porsche, your description does make sense ^^

  • The "e" in both Straube and Porsche is not really an "Uh" . It's more similiar to Italian "e" (and) or French "et"/""est"

In the Two and a half men episode where Alan buys a Porsche Charlie and Alan both get the pronunciation wrong😁

But Italians pronounce every vowel. Americans already murdered the pronunciation of Straube during VNL

I've only seen the home games of Consolini but the announcer basically shouted STRO BEH not STROW BA which probably would've been closer

  • Erfurt with a last minute transfer for today's match: after Lydia Stemmler's injury, they signed USA OH Alianza Darley (though according to Volleybox she played as MB last season).

Which makes me wonder where Michelle Bachmann will end up. Most other Potsdam players have found new clubs, even if they're in lower divisions :/

According to her profile with the UTEP Miners, she played both outside hitter and middle blocker in the NCAA. I can't say right now which position she played how often.

  • Stuttgarts head coach Konstantin Bitter was not amused. Especially in third set Stuttgart turned it only at the end of the crunch time (standing 22-18 for Borken, only than Stuttgart came back and took it).

  • Qualifications for first round of is finished, one pure amateur team from second league North came through, Emlichheim won against Düsseldorf from second pro, the other three victorious regional cup winners were all from second league pro.

  • Borken ist already in the quarters because Potsdam first team no more exists, the other pairings fixed now are:

    Waldgirmes (Hesse) vs Stuttgart

Stralsund vs Hamburg (might get interesting, kind of North derby)

    Emlichheim (Lower Saxonia) vs Dresden

    Planegg-Krailing (Bavaria) vs Schwerin

  • Qualifications for first round of is finished, one pure amateur team from second league South came through, Emlichheim won against Düsseldorf from second pro, the other three victorious regional cup winners were all from second league pro.

It's hardly surprising that Emlichheim beat Düsseldorf. If Emlichheim had the budget, they could easily play in the 2. Liga Pro with this team and would likely finish in the upper midfield. It's not without reason that they won the 2. Bundesliga North last year without a single point being lost and only losing five sets. While they haven't been quite as dominant this year, they're still very good for the league level.

Düsseldorf, on the other hand, has acquired the playing rights from Essen, who were actually in a relegation spot in the 2. Liga Pro, and actually took over most of the team. But they also had important departures. That's why, for me, this match was a match on equal terms, with an even edge towards Emlichheim, especially since Emlichheim didn't have a double matchday.

  • Wiesbaden - Erfurt 3:2 stats

MVP: Pleun van der Pijl / Isabel Kovacic

Hard to understand why van der Pijl was chosen MVP when Gayoso scored 30 pts with almost 50% :|

Stats of Münster-Hamburg from Sunday still aren't on VBL website, in general there seem to be problems with transfer from Datavolley lately ?(

  • MVP's are voted by the audience. The commentator chooses 3 players from each team you can vote for. Not a fan of this because it sometimes ends up in weird choices.

That was last seasons, i think. They went back to coaches-choice.
