Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2025/26

  • I don’t know why you’re so butt hurt, because I was referring to the guys bullying on social media but maybe I unintentionally hit a nerve.
And I never said that she is the best in particular, just making a point on the general idea that the players belong to the fans and their teams and should stay there because the „fans“ know what’s the best for them.

PS: I don’t gamble at all but I know that a lot of frustrated comments on social media are coming from guys who lost bets on (volleyball) games.

Sure it's not like you weren't just crying after you made that post about gambling. Projection much

  • And Straube going back to German league is supposedly good for her? what will she achieve there that she can boast in an international scale? :/

I think everyone could see from the reactions of the German users that we ourselves are very surprised by this transfer. That's already an indication that we don't consider it the best decision either. SantaClaus didn't claim otherwise in his statement. He simply said that there could be "non-sporting" reasons leading to the transfer.

Furthermore, if you've been following Sarah Straube for a while, you know that her big dream was to play in Italy. I'd even go so far as to say that it still is. Therefore, there must be compelling reasons why she's returning to Dresden. Whether these will be revealed with the announcement of the transfer, I don't know. But a first indication will be whether she plays for the national team this year. I fully expect she will, and if that happens, I might even see her playing in Italy again in the 2027/28 season.

  • Once again, people forget that players are in the end the ones who decide where they play, not leagues or clubs, and players have reasons for their decision. From an athletic point of view, of course the decision to return to German league when she could easily continue in a better league is questionable for a very talented player in her best years, but athletic arguments are not the only base for such a decision. She'll have her reasons and honestly they're not anyone's business, least of all that of us or some bullies on social media. If she were to play in Dresden because she felt homesick in Italy then it's a sad reason but still one everyone has to accept. It's not like she'll be thrown out of NT for leaving Italian league :wall:

Did she already say why she decided to return?

  • No. It's not even official yet :gone: And at the end of the day she doesn't have to explain it publicly.

In her case because the outrage is well kinda big (twiter/tiktok) the hate comments may not stop unless she says something. I agree though that she doesn't have to explain herself but this level of bullying sometimes won't stop unless there's some type of explanation given even if it were something shallow and unacceptable.

She doesn't have to tell the truth:lol: if Straube simply said well I want to be with my boyfriend that's definitely going to make things even worse for her and whoever's involved.

But knowing her, she doesn't post/share personal stuff on IG and during her interview for icarosport she made it very clear that she's a private person unlike Orthmann or Orro and Sylla who are always TMI lol

  • At least Straube will play CL with Dresden next season.

I think some of you are missing the bigger picture here and it shouldn't even be up for debate.

Straube has (had now) rumors at Imoco since Ewert is sure to leave this season. What she could learn from being in a top team isn't even close to her just playing CL it's not like you can even guarantee that Dresden can go to the finals and defeat not only Italian but also get past Turkish teams.

So you also have to understand where the disappointment and disapproval comes from. You can't just stay within your own bubble.

  • Also like many coaches have already said since the beginning of the season, this road to LA2028 is the turning point for many veterans to pass the baton to the next generation so the hunt for whoever could take over for Wolosz is already happening. Ogjenovic may leave or retire at any given moment and most of the Italian setters are quite mediocre so that leaves an opening for foreign setters to shine.

  • SatanClaus you're clearly too ignorant about both the Italian and Turkish league and it shows... first of all if you want exposure so bad, get a contract with volleyballworld and vbtv just like the Japanese league. Having Straube in your league isn't going to change anything not even 1% of the problems your league needs to improve on. Once she goes back there nobody will be interested in her again. Her hype started because people found out she was going to play in italy and it will die down again once she goes back there.

  • If Straube was signed to Ceku's agency or Goldsport I'm certain that she will stay in Italy. Barbieri as an agent is a good advisor that's why he was able to do so much for Orthmann. It's Straube's choice sure but it's not like she's been at this game for 30 years to know any better. At the same time having the right push or guidance is just as important in making good decisions in this field.

iirc certain conditions need to be met for a VBTV deal and 1 is that they need to have a good level division whether it's men or women's division with known players in the league both international and local stars. Polish league has the men's division even though their women is falling in quality and goat Leon ofc is there.
