Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2025/26

  • 3rd final match

    Suhl - Dresden 3:0 stats

MVP: Kenzie Foley / Marta Levinska

Suhl is German Champion 2026 after already winning the Cup :obey::cup:

Suhl's OHs both scoring over 60% in attack and Dresden's OHs both under 40% today once again was the key difference. Dresden tried to target Foley more with serves today but (of course) it didn't work out. It seemed like overall Dresden could create a bit more pressure with serves today, but whenever Suhl had a bad reception, they would get a perfect one right away in the next rally so Dresden could never win a streak of points.

Suhl's season was truly incredible, everybody expected one of Stuttgart/Schwerin/Dresden to become champion as usual, but with hard work and persistance, Suhl arrived in the playoffs in amazing shape and played on a constantly high level. They absolutely deserve the title as a reward for their hard work in the last years. Hollosy deserves so much praise, however annoying he may be at times, results are there!

  • who got the MVP? is there a dream team?

There is no official dream team for the season as far as I know but you could either use the MVP medals or the player rankings for each position (voted by the coaches before the playoffs I think) to create one, though both rankings are very similar.

    From MVPs

    Setter: Lara Nagels

    Opposite: Marta Levinska

Outsides: Mackenzie Foley, Anne Hölzig/Jet Kok (same amount)

    Middles: Lucia Varela, Mette Pfeffer

Libero: Kacey Jost (best with only 3 total compared to Levinskas 12 but liberos rarely get MVP)

    Voted by coaches

    Setter: Lara Nagels

    Opposite: Monika Brancuská

    Outsides: Eleanor Holthaus, Mackenzie Foley

    Middles: Lucia Varela, Mette Pfeffer

    Libero: Yurika Bamba

  • Interview with Alex Waibl about the past season, Akimoto, the youngsters and other stuff.

Nothing really new. Pfeffer, Nestler and Rosemann are invited for the national team.

Sorry for not translating it into english.

  • I wonder if they plan with Kuipers as starter. She was simply terrible throughout the playoffs, she finished with 27% in attack in 7 playoff matches :gone:

I'm surprised as well but that's the thing about making these contracts in January. Until the Playoffs she was really good. It's actually the contrary to Lengweiler and Clothier last season.

  • There is a paywalled article from insüdthüringen: https://www.insuedthueringen.d…78-ba1f-95efd8ead996.html

It says 5 players leave Suhl:

As expected Monika Brancuska, Mackenzie Foley and Sanaa Dotson.

Alina Nasin leaves and she saddly has to struggle with her knee. On Wednesday she had a operation on her knee.

The last one is Xiang-Chen Lai.

On the other hand that means Svea Naujack stays in Suhl.

About Kuipers i would say she had a long season with most playtime from all OHs in Dresden and she needed a break when the playoffs started.

  • So Brancuska really got bought out of her contract. I hope Suhl negotiated well at least, she'll be hard to replace :| Actually the whole OH/OPP trio will be hard to replace...

  • Any infos where they are heading to?

  • Any infos where they are heading to?

Brancuska = Italy ( they didn't say the club)

Foley = they write probably Dresden

The other 3 they didn't write a destination.

... Actually the whole OH/OPP trio will be hard to replace...

When i think about last season DePaula, Kuipers and Artyshuk that is nothing new they leave.

  • Brancuska - Italy

    Foley - Dresden

    Dotson: doesnt say

Busto reportedly bought out Brancuska's contract. Where Grozer is at and also Akimoto is rumored to go. No idea if JVA agreed to it.

Brancuska should've gone to Vallefoglia imo she's very unlikely to get any courttime at Busto with Seki in charge.

Too bad about youknowwho since she definitely would've gone to Vallefoglia along with Kochurina
