CEV U22 European Championship 2026

    cev_uxx_badge_rgbu22-26-300.png?v=1db91af06e7f210 The final round of the CEV U22 European Championship 2026 will take place in The Hague from July 6 to July 12, 2026. In addition to the host country, the Netherlands, seven other teams will participate in the tournament.

    Qualifying begins this week, with a total of 17 of the planned 18 teams battling for seven starting spots. The originally planned Israeli team cannot or will not participate due to the political situation in their home country. The teams are divided into five groups of three or four teams, with the group winners and the two best runners-up qualifying for the finals. The groups are divided as follows, with the hosts marked in italics:

    As a German, I'm wondering the same thing. Especially since our 2005/06 year group, which – as far as I know – is in contention for the European Championship, isn't all that bad. Furthermore, several players from that year group are in the extended squad for the World University Games, meaning the qualification could have been used partly as a test for that players.


    You can only speculate as to the reasons why they didn't register. But our association is notoriously cash-strapped, and we already participate in many tournaments this year in the women's area without this tournament. I could imagine that another tournament might not have been financially feasible, especially since it wasn't clear for a long time how much funding we would actually receive from the state.


    But Belgium and France, two larger European teams, are also not participating. And France, in particular, is surprising, since they should have a fairly well-rehearsed team, with France Avenir, which they could have strengthened with other better players.

    did you see France scheduled in some final tournament of underage competition this summer , except U16? maybe its one explanation about how mens french NT perform year after year and how french W NT didint have any reserve players . And i think that he depends on money and political decision inside FFVB. Thats a mess

    I've noticed their absence too but they're not historically big volleyball countries in Europe, at least not in female competitions while Germany has a long history and tradition in female volleyball. Both France and Belgium also desperately need a few new players to support their senior NTs. Especially Belgium is becoming more and more boring every year with their 'herbots and Co' style

    I get why Dilay won't play this tournament that most are using as prep for the U21 World's. Will she participate then?

    Thanks to volleySrb, I was able to add links to the Group E matches. I also noticed the streams offered by the CEV on their YouTube channel. Currently, the only streams missing are the Group B matches and all CEV streams for the July 6 matches. I hope the latter will be added tomorrow. Regarding the Group B matches, the Latvian Federation's advertisement states that there will be streams on YouTube. Therefore, I hope the streams will still be available tomorrow.

    Agreed. The moment a player establishes herself at senior NT level, she shouldn't bother to play junior levels. The team could use those competitions to give more experience to other players. Also once there's a dominant player in the roster, rest of the team tends to not take much responsibilities and rely on that person. Dilay has a fair shot to be in the roster for wch. At least that s what I'm cheering for🙏

    Well the decision as to whom will be the two setters will be defined shortly after the VNL I presume so no harm in her participating in the U21. If it were another position other than setter I would agree but without her Turkey loses a lot since the rest of the team is sort of meh.
