You could see Chen Pei-yan from 2017 to now: Chen Pei-yan could receive the ball but the skill was almost very bad.
In 2022, she as the substitute OP couldn't be good. Of course, Cai Bin thought her skill was like Yang Fang-xu's - lefty and lefty are not the same! Zeng Chun-lei and Yang Fang-xu were both not with the same style. About Ding Xia from 2022 to 2024, I just think she should be retired from NT earlier.

Honestly I don't trust Yang Shuming. China doesn't have that much choices. At last they will use Tang Xin and Ji Yuxiao for substitute opposite and next year there won't be a promising opposite in the league either...
I really don't like the idea that opposite should receive. It's not a regular way of playing and is really out of style.

Zhang is pure talent, but she's very young and needs another, more experienced setter to play with. I'm glad Diao has returned.
Agreed but I don't think Diao is the right player. Nothing wrong with her setting but her digging/reception is not up to par. She didn't do very well in the NT under Cai Bin and unless she has improved a lot, it's better to give other players a chance, such as Xie Shengyu.

At one point Wang Yuanyuan and Yang Hanyu were on a similar level, but Wang YY put in the time and practice to elevate her skills. Yang is still the same player she was a couple years ago, a strong quick attack but weak block. There's young middles that can do the same, ex. Chen Houyu.
