Serbian Women's NT 2026

  • I agree with a lot of the comments here. I'm not Serbian so I'm not privy to whatever things are going on with the federation, but whoever's in charge has to act quickly regarding the coaching [staff]. I feel sorry for this batch because if they are experiencing so many coaching changes, but they can't keep on clinging to whatever they have now. Apart from the fact that WR points are very crucial for them to qualify for LA, they need next year's VNL to be a successful campaign to give a morale boost for the girls (assuming that Tijana won't play a lot of games next year) and see which actual young blood (both in age and experience in NT) they could keep in the following years.

Some of the girls who went to NCAA are doing pretty good (from eye test), and it would be such a big waste if the federation/NT can't capitalize on these girls' growth.

Only Vajagic, Krickovic and Sucurovic are good from ncaa girls.

I was sad that we didn’t get to see any of those 3 at least in preparation camp, it’s huge experience.

As for young blood, we have Tadic, Vujovic and Grkovic at OP who should be at least called to train with NT. They can’t contibute now but Tijana isn’t gonna play forever and Zubic isn’t the answer for starter OP position in the future.

Grkovic is signed to Volero next season as OH, Tadic is also seen training with Volero (she is with SB so it makes sence) after a year break due to back injury. Vujovic will play in Nilufer although it’s not official.

None of them are serious options yet ofc but it wouldn’t hurt to have them called and tested in training camp as options for future considering our OP pool is TRAGIC without Tijana.

Terzic said that he expects Antonovic to have bigger role next summer with A team and I’m all hete for it, the girl is super talented.

  • Tijana will be gone after 2028, I'm completely sure. So if we're still not qualified for the Olympics after WCh next year, it would make perfect sense for her to play the entire preliminary phase of VNL '28 as one last push. Assuming she's healthy, of course.

  • Glad to know all of these. I think Mateska could be a good addition to the pool, she has solid stats at Washington. I'm assuming Volero Le Cannet? (or Virtus lol). Hopefully they all get heavy minutes this season

  • What do you all think, will Maja stick around for two more years? I actually think she might.

she’s def staying till LA after that interview today

  • I honestly don't know what to think.

Is it a solution? Obviously not. But she will definitely not be worse than Mirković even at 44, and unless some real miracle occurs, there simply is no other option.

But if she does stay, I really hope shes's more involved in VNL. Tijana too. I know it's unlikely to happen, but we've seen time and again that this "resting during summer" thing simply doesn't work.

  • Yea I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t want her. We don’t have another good option unless Krickovic plays next VNL and is great and even then maja on the LA roster for guidance and experience is good either way. Plus she actually did try and distribute the ball pretty well and not just insist on boskovic every ball except at some times during the bronze medal match when it was needed and fine to do anyway

  • also if maja and tijana play VNL we will surely be in a good enough world ranking spot to qualify we are already well within striking distance to the top 6ish with a good VNL especially if we play full squad against teams like Brazil or USA who play a mixed line up and we get tons of points for beating them

  • Making top 8 in VNL needs to be a priority. If they then want to send 2nd team to play the final stage, idgaf. But winning needs to become a standard for these girls. Finding the right rotation and developing bench players(and some starters tbh) so that when some of your starters choke, you have options. They were barely mentioned, but Lazovic and Aleksic/Kirov would have made a difference in the later stages of this tournament. Those 3 have more fight in them than our whole starting lineup tbh. But nonetheless, 3rd place is a reality, so I'm personally not that bothered.

Maja staying is unfortunately a necessity, not great for post LA, but with Russia coming back, there is even less room for improvising and waiting on these players to develop. The only hope is that they are all going to have a more challenging season ahead in terms of club goals and expectations. Playing more quality games during the season gives you experience to play challenging matches in NT.

(edit: Also, get a psychologist on the staff stat. Geric did some miracles on the water polo team; I'm sure people in ossrb have his number )

  • What do you all think, will Maja stick around for two more years? I actually think she might.

Judging from what she said that she doesn't want to end her NY career on a sour note, I got a feeling she'll want to stay for a few more years to redeem herself. So I hope Serbia wins a medal in LA so she can finally pass the baton. Regardless if she wins a medal or not, she has already carved an indelible mark in volleyball. Not many players get to have a career as long as hers so it's great that it's someone like Maja and not just some random player.

  • I was a branka tica hater and although I still don’t think she has the physicality to be a starter for this team to contend for future gold medals nor does she have the reception to make up for it she has the right Serbian fighting spirit and mentally and she is a very skilled all around player just limited. Perfect for back up role or if she can get even better reception maybe continue to start. I appreciate her being brave and fighting even though she was the least experienced player on court for Serbia. Also mandatory Kurtagic legend post

  • Dont forget that we have Tasić - she had very good season in our superleague, with exelent statistics .
