  • I believe the USA loss to Puerto Rico (oops, I meant Spain...) last night means they will not be qualifying for the OG during the WC, even if they were capable of winning every other match. They still have Russia, Bulgaria, etc...

  • It is nice that Spain won something at last. However, what happens to USA? :? They have beaten Brasil and... they have real problem now. I doubt whether they qualify from WC. Bulgaria has three victories and is on the good way like Russia. But the fight is still on its way. In men's WC we have less very weak teams than in woman's. I mean: S.Korea, Egypt and Japan. Even Australia plays quite good. So ther is not much of easy games.

  • It's a little offtopic but can I ask something. The team in the Justyna's profile isn't it the club where Arek Golas was playing?

  • Bulgaria screwed again. A pity. :(
I think Zhekov played a bad match, but in the quality and distribution of the settings.
Bulgaria is very unstable, and lacks a bit of basic fundaments of volleyball, like reception and digs.
Well, I still think they will classify to the OG, but I think it will be difficult to be the champions, mostly because of bad point average. On the good side though, Russia is the only strong team Bulgaria still has to face, but in this one, I can't cheer for Bulgaria. :D

So, tell me did usa deserve more the victory, it was very interesting match and the chance was with them, also there was only one referee mistake, the point was decided to be for usa, but was for Bulgaria. This kind of loss.. it's awfull, it's the most paintfull, but that's life. We keep walking and look forward to the match against Brazil. We shouldn't have lost this match but the destiny said other thing. But never mind, good luck bulgarian boys, we love you. :) One love, one nation, one team - BULGARIA FOREVER!!!

  • Well, all sets had a 2 points difference, and it ended in the tie break, 15x12, so I think both teams could win, and it would be equally fair.
I just can't understand the USA, beating Bulgaria and Brazil and losing to Puerto Rico and Spain...

Yeah, As I said, that's sport. But how about Russia, you are in the less difficulkt group, only russia is a strong team and in our group only egypt is a weak team, although groups only decide the order of matches it is good to know that you already have 5 victories against the team, I don't think it' fair that way - Bulgaria, USA, Brazil, Spain and Puerto Rico to be in one group in the beggining.

  • Although Bulgaria lost today, they still have great chances to qualify as well as Russia and Brasil. USA is back in bussiness again, but they could have real problems due to this defeat against Puerto Rico.
BUL-BRA tomorrow - it might be very interesting game because it's important for both teams.

  • Well.... let's see if Brazil has REALLY put its act together.

I expect a very tense match. If Giba decides to play its best, then it will be very difficult to beat us.

But if Marcelo decides to srew us... then we are finished

    Let's wait and see.......

  • Quote

But if Marcelo decides to srew us... then we are finished

That's unfair, he is a very good setter.

As for Giba, ok, he is a great player, but his "best" relies a lot on Brazilian fast gameplay. Honestly, if Brazil didn't have Ricardo all these years, and if the whole system was not based on absurd speed, I don't think Giba would be compared to some of the best spikers in the world - Milikovic, Kazyzki, Poltavsky, Milinkovic - even though he is very skilled.

I agree about Giba. He is a good player only when he is playing for our NT. In fact, the vast majority of brazilian players are just OK. They do work very well together, though.

As for Marcelo... well, he is still one of the best setters out there, but it is just impossible not to compare him to the greatest of the greatest: Ricardo. I think Ricardo must be on of the best setters of all times.

That being said, I'm not sure if Marcelo can really take the best out of our team like Ricardo could. I mean, clearly, even mediocre players could play fairly well with him.
