  • Here are latest news from sportal.bg
Bulgarian National Team started trainings. Here are included players: possibly they will play surely
Evgeni Ivanov, Hristo Tzvetanov, Kostadin Stoykov, Danail Milushev, Boyan Yordanov, Krasimir Gaydarski, Teodor Salparov, Ivan Zarev, Ivan Tasev, Martin Penev, Tzvetan Sokolov.
Still missing are; Vlado Nikolov, Kazyiski, Zhekov, Konstantinov. And anybody from Levski is not participating. So strange. In squad probably will go Miroslav Gradinarov, Stoyko Nentchev adn Ivan Kolev.

  • Where have you read about Gradinarov... I don't think he will be in the squad.

  • It's good to see Bartman on the list. He seems to be interesting player and one of the best in Turkish league (although it is not especially good league).

really do you think so  turkey is one of the best league in the europe...not strong as much as italy, russian or poland but strong as belgium etc.
and bartman is not one of the best our league.coz he always on the bench in halkbank

  • he always on the bench in halkbank

    always?

of course not always. Bartman usuallly plays in the "first six". Several times he was MVP!!! So Serdar, if you said that bartman is not one of the best in your league then we can suppose that your league is weak... it's simple

  • Fortunately, Siatkarz and Justyna answered for me :)

  • FIVB confirms receipt of World League team lists

Lausanne, April 30, 2008 – All aboard for the World League!

    The
FIVB has received the squad lists for all 16 National Teams taking part
in the 2008 FIVB World League, the flagship annual event in Men’s
Volleyball involving the world's best players competing for more than
    USD 20 million Prize Money.

The composition of each team is
published on the FIVB website and can be found by clicking on the
“Teams” link on the left-hand side of the page at: www.fivb.org/EN/Volleyball/Competitions/WorldLeague/2008/

    Each
National Federation has submitted its 19-strong list of players, from
which 12 are selected for each weekend of competition. The “12 from 19”
list is given to the World League Control Committee at the Technical
Meeting the day before the weekend’s action.

    The
biggest names are set to return in 2008, including Russia’s Semen
Poltavskiy, Best Scorer and Server last year, Bulgaria’s Matey
Kaziyski, 2007 Best Spiker, and Brazil’s “Giba,” one of the hottest
properties in world Volleyball, to name just three stars included in
    their countries’ lists.

    The
FIVB has already approved the match schedule for this year’s
tournament. The 2008 edition will see 96 matches over six consecutive
weekends in 41 cities across the globe.

    The
six Intercontinental Rounds begin the weekend of June 13-15 and end the
weekend of July 18-20. The teams are divided into four pools, with each
team playing their pool opponents twice over a weekend both home and
away. Brazil, France, Serbia, Venezuela are in Pool A, Russia, Cuba,
Korea, Italy in Pool B, USA, Bulgaria, Spain, Finland in Pool C and
Poland, Japan, China, Egypt in Pool D.

The Final Round will be contested by six teams playing a total of 10 matches in Rio de Janeiro through July 23-27.

    Brazil
will be looking for their sixth-straight World League triumph. Another
success for the Brazilians would mean they match Italy for most World
    League victories with eight.

    The
World League, started by the FIVB in 1990, is a spectacular showcase
for the crème de la crème of Men’s Volleyball. The total attendance for
the 2007 edition was 637,000 fans with total TV coverage of 2,244
hours. The Finals had more than 1 billion TV viewers and 757 hours of
    live TV coverage.

  • Why Sammelvuo and Heikkinen won't be playing in WL? Injures?

first one has some problems with healthy, second one wanna rest from national team this year.

how often do you watch halkbank match? strumilo prefer david lee, siebeck and hooi in the 'first six' .some match ı remember he plays very well.but last match he wasn t great and doesn t play much.
so bartman isn t one of best in our league.best ones: david cameroon lee, siebeck, suela mendez, duerden, coskoviç,grbiç,gomez, milinkoviç, mikko olivanen,krniç....were best.not bartman
sure it is my idea.you can say our league is weak.so it is your idea...

  • One of the best dosn't mean: the greatest of all times...As long as I remember, Bartman in All Star team in the match against Turkish NT. Even if some foreign players couldn't have played then - it means something in my opinion. Especially if he were effective player in All Star team (14 points). Maybe they take weak players to such team, I don't know...

And about league. It is nothing personal, Serdar - your female league is strong, men - is not ( however , I would find many worse)

ANAHEIM, Calif. (May 5, 2008) – USA Volleyball has announced the 19-man roster that will be used for this summer’s FIVB World League tournament.

The FIVB World League consists of 16 of the top international men's volleyball teams playing in four groups of four over six weekends, with each team playing two home matches and two away against each other team in the pool. At the end of the six weeks, the four pool winners, plus the final-round host country and a wild-card pick compete in the final round.

The U.S. Men placed third in the 2007 FIVB World League.

The 19-man World League roster is a pool from which U.S. Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon can pick 12 players before each weekend of World League.

This year’s World League pool-play matches take on a greater significance as McCutcheon and his staff determine the 12-man roster for the 2008 Olympic Games. The roster must be submitted to the U.S. Olympic Committee by July 1.

“We want to make sure we’re taking the best team to Beijing,” said McCutcheon, adding that this year’s World League roster has not changed much from last year’s. “I like the group that we have. Certainly they have proven themselves over the last season. We didn’t see any need to make drastic changes. We just want to try and keep making improvements with the group that we have.”

The 2008 roster includes four setters, which highlights the wealth of talent the team has at the position.

Lloy Ball (Woodburn, Ind.) has played for the United States in the last three Olympics. Although he announced he was retiring from the U.S. Men’s Team after the Athens Games, he returned to the team last summer and has said he would like to play in one more Olympic Games.

Donald Suxho (Korce, Albania) was the backup setter to Ball in Athens and moved into the starting role in 2005-06. However in March of 2007, Suxho partially tore his Achilles tendon while playing in Italy and was forced to sit out the season. Now he is looking to get his position back.

Kevin Hansen (Newport Beach, Calif.) joined the team in 2006 and was a backup to Suxho in the 2006 World League. After Suxho was injured in 2007, Hansen shared the World League setting duties with Brandon Taliaferro (San Clemente, Calif.). Hansen ended up starting the United States’ final five pool play matches and the final-round matches in Poland, where the team won the bronze medal. He went on to start for the United States at the Pan American Games, where it won the silver medal.

When Ball rejoined the team for the Americas’ Cup in August, Hansen moved to the backup position and stayed there for the 2007 NORCECA Championship, the 2007 FIVB World Cup and the 2008 NORCECA Olympic Qualifier.

Taliaferro was Suxho’s backup setter for the 2006 World Championship and shared setting duties with Hansen for the 2007 World League. He was Hansen’s backup for the 2007 Pan American Games, but did not travel with the team again once Ball returned.
“We have some good setters and obviously, with Donnie being healthy, we want to make sure he has a chance to compete for a spot,” McCutcheon said. “Kevin has done very well for us in the last couple years. Brandon’s had a nice season in Europe and he’s come back better. Lloy’s certainly in that mix as a veteran of three Olympics.”

One player making his debut on a U.S. Men’s roster is opposite Evan Patak (Pleasanton, Calif.), who finished up his collegiate career at UC Santa Barbara in 2007. Patak has played for the United States at the World University Games in 2003 and 2007.

“Evan’s primary role would be as a serving substitute,” McCutcheon said. “He’s very good from the service line. He could perhaps get some work at opposite as well. Middle Delano Thomas could also come in as a serving specialist.”

Three players on the roster are veterans of more than one Olympics.

Besides Ball and Suxho, eight other players on the World League roster have Olympic experience. Veteran middle blockers Ryan Millar (Palmdale, Calif.) and Tom Hoff (Park Ridge, Ill.; U.S. team captain) have each played in the last two Olympics.

Middle blocker Phil Eatherton (Glencoe, Mo.), outside hitters Reid Priddy (Richmond, Va.) and Riley Salmon (League City, Texas) and opposites Brook Billings (Santa Barbara, Calif.), Gabe Gardner (San Clemente, Calif.) and Clay Stanley (Honolulu, Hawai’i) all played for the United States at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.

Tickets for the FIVB World League matches in Hoffman Estates, Ill. (June 20-21 vs. Bulgaria), Green Bay, Wis. (June 27-28 vs. Finland) and Bloomington, Ill. (July 11-12 vs. Spain) are now on sale. To purchase tickets, go to the USA Volleyball World League site at http://www.usavolleyball.org/national/08WL.asp.

  • strumilo prefer david lee

    he is a middle blocker.

could someone tell me about dawid murek? i heard that he isn't on the list because problems with health. has he a chance on olympic games? and what about prygiel and szymanski?

  • David Murek rather don't have chance for OG. He said that he wont be able to play such a lot matches in one season.
Lozano decided to choose only from those players who are on the World League team list.:(

Szymanski before Olimpic qualification tournament in Izmir beceme injured, Lozano was ( and still ) is thinking that Szymanski lied him about injury.
Raul after this situation said that Szymanski will never play in "his" Poland NT. :(

Prygiel in Lozano's eyes is weaker spiker than Wlazly, Gruszka and Kurek. So he also don't have chance for OG. :(
