World Cup 2007

  • My opinion is that Italy just blew the other teams away. Gongratulations on their success. :)

  • INDIVIDUAL AWARDS
    MVP: Simona Gioli (Italy)
    Best Scorer: Katarzyna Skowronska (Poland)
    Best Spiker: Nancy Carrillo (Cuba)
    Best Blocker: Simona Gioli (Italy)
    Best Server: Yanelis Santos (Cuba)
Best Setter: Helia Souza “Fofao” (Brazil)
    Best Libero: Paola Cardullo (Italy)

  • New FIVB World Ranking (this one will count for the pools set-up in the OG):

    1. Brazil
    2. Italy
    3. Cuba
    4. USA
    5. Russia
    6. China
    7. Serbia
    8. Japan
    9. Poland
    10. Netherlands
    11. Korea
    12. Kenya
    13. Peru
    14. Dom. Rep.
    15. Germany

In the continental tournaments, there's no shadow of doubt that Cuba will qualify in the Norceca Championship, depending on the competition formula of the South American Championship, either Peru or the Dominican Republic may qualify (last OG Dominican Republic took the South American spot although it is a Caribbean country).

The African team that will qualify is Kenya... that goes without saying.

It's difficult to predict what will happen in the European Tournament... I strongly believe Russia will take the European Spot and both Poland, the Netherlands, Serbia, Turkey and Germany will have to play the World Qualification Tournament that will be played in Asia.

I believe the Asian spot belongs to Japan.

The pools will be formed by the following countries:

Pool A: Host country, 3rd best ranked team, 4th best ranked team, 7th best ranked team, 8th best ranked team, 11 best ranked team

Pool B: 1st best ranked team, 2nd best ranked team, 5th best ranked team, 6th best ranked team, 9th best ranked team, 10th best ranked team

In my opinion, the followin teams will qualify:

Pool A: China, Cuba, USA, Japan, Poland, Peru or Dominican Republic
Pool B: Brazil, Italy, Russia, Serbia, Netherlands, Kenya

Then... I believe the followinf teams will qualify:

Pool A: China, USA, Cuba and Poland
Pool B: Italy, Russia, Brazil and Serbia or Netherlands

    Quaterfinals:

    China versus Serbia or Netherlands
    Italy vs. Poland
    Russia vs. Cuba
    Brazil vs. USA

I believe this OG will be tough... everything can happen already in the quarterfinals!

I agree Dominican Rep. can be qualified via South American Tournament

Don't believe in miracle - in World qualification in May as always will be present 8 teams whereof :
4 Asian teams (Japan and Korea should qualify to OG - best asian + 2-3rd best in tournament)
2 European teams (both should be qualified to OG nevermind who will have this chance)
    1 South American team
    1 NORCECA or African team

  • What is the reason Dominican Rep. will take the south american spot?..... do they have a special crown or what?

Dominican Republic will play the Norceca Preolympic tournament next month along with Cuba, Canada, P.Rico and others in Mexico..... why they would get a second chance playing in Southamerica in January 2008?

I know this happened in 2004, but it was a ridiculous FIVB decision..... one team playing two continental qualification tournaments ....... again why??!!

  • I think if the dominicans are playing in the South America one, many teams are going to complain
it seems like they are getting all these privileges just because they have a better ties with the FIVB because of their team manager...

Nobody knows what rules will be applied by Mr Acosta
    Don't be surprised.
I know it is not fair but .... many times Dominican Rep. had add. chances in history. Frankly speaking they have no chance to qualify via Norceca tournament. Cuba is too strong. Oppenents like Peru or Argentina are on similar level.

  • :good:  :clapping: :victory: :woohoo: :trophy:

Thanks girls for this beautiful victory, I'm proud of you!

  • i hope the dirigency here in south america NEVER AGAIN let Dominicana or any country of other continent invade this pre OG tournament. If they try to do this, i think Peru, Venezuela and Argentina must reject to participate in that tournament

  • The most important thing after World Cup is + 40 ranking points for Poland. Now we are ahead of NED. I hope that RUS, SER or POL will win european qualification tuornament... It would be disaster for Poland if NED (or GER, TUR...) won this tournament...

  • Italian team is unbelievable, 21 victories in sequence, they beat the record that was of the male italian team in mid-'90 (the "generazione di fenomeni") of 20 victories in sequence, they dominated the europeans and now this difficult tournament, now they are the real "generazione di fenomeni". Thanks girls!

  • hello forum:

yes , as Dominican always get this unfair wild card , and leave out great teams like Rusian ( world champion and olimpic) or nerthlands ( the last winner of the grand prix), and also make FAKES passports, and change ages of the players to make playing in competitions .. marte know very well , what i said......the Peruvian team unfair lost the possibilty to play in the olimpics games , becouse as Dominican were playing in the SOUTH AMERICAN CHAMPION.... that is fair????

    envidius to dominicans .. please?????
