European Olympic Qualification

  • Yeah!!!!It looks like is going to be a really strong championship ins't Nastja?!!!!!!!! ....but I don't wanna create a lot of expectations over Croatia and Romenia...cause on the European names like Poljak, Osmrokovic, Turlea, Nucu, were also there...and on the end they didn't go!!!!! :(

But I hope this time...since is for an olympic spot they will!!!!!! :P

And Joana.....why is Golubovic out too????So you know???Is she from Montenegro too...or just don't wanna play more for NT...or sth else???

  • And Joana.....why is Golubovic out too????So you know???Is she from Montenegro too...or just don't wanna play more for NT...or sth else???

She's Serbian, but she's older than the rest of the team so she didn't fit in Terzic's idea of creating a team for the future than could play together for 6-7 years. She was on NT until EC 2003.

  • I think those 12 will participate

    Setters:
    Maja Ognjenovic
    Maja Simanic

    Blockers:
    Vesna Citakovic
    Ivana Isailovic
    Stefana Veljkovic

    Opposite hitters:
    Ivana Djerisilo
    Jovana Brakocevic
    Ivana Nesovic

    Outside hitters:
    Jelena Nikolic
    Brizitka Molnar
    Jovana Vesovic

    Liberos:
    Suzana Cebic

I hope he doesn't leave home one between Djerisilo, Brakocevic and Nesovic. Since he didn't call Anja  , Ivana or Jovana has to receive. It is so stupid not to call such a symbol of Serbian NT such as Anja Spasojevic.

  • I hope he doesn't leave home one between Djerisilo, Brakocevic and Nesovic.

I hope so too, but I'm afraid he'll call Jasna Majstorovic again. For some reason he seems to just love her. :S She has a tricky serve that can be hard to read but other than that I don't think she can contribute all that much.
Also Aleksandra Avramovic might make it instead of Ivana Isailovic, and with the rest of your predictions I agree 100%.

As far as Anja and Natasa are concerned, Terzic just said that they were going to have a serious conversation about their future on NT. Whatever that may mean.

  • I think Serbia has a great team!!!!!

I have to say that I was REALLY happy to see Ivana playing for Zurich today!!!!!
She will be a great help for Serbia...and if she is able to play now....she has a little time that she can use to get in shape again....witch is good!!!!!

About Anja and Krsmanovic...I have to say is really weird the fact they are out....I thought might be cause they played for Zurich...and they didn't let them played for some reason on the World Cup....but now....this explanation can't fit....since Ivana is going!!!

Joana....do you think they have so kind of problem on the NT....that's why he didn't call them....or maybe they asked Terzic to be out????
Or was just Terzic decision to let them out???Cause if it was....is kind of crazy.....cause they both seem good people!!! ;)

Anyway!!!!I cheer a lot for Serbia!!!!! :super:

  • Polish roster:

    Setters:
    Milena Sadurek, Katarzyna Skorupa
    Receivers:
Małgorzata Glinka-Mogentale, Anna Podolec, Dorota Świeniewicz, Anna Barańska, Milena Rosner, Karolina Ciaszkiewicz.
    Attacers:
    Katarzyna Skowrońska-Dolata, Kamila Frątczak.
    MB:
Eleonora Dziękiewicz, Agnieszka Bednarek, Katarzyna Gajgał, Maria Liktoras.
    Liberos:
    Mariola Zenik, Agata Sawicka.

Really interesting roster. I'm wondering who can go to Halle as a receiver... I think, that Glinka and Podolec will go there and 2 places left... for Barańska, Rosner and Śwnieniewicz. And we can see that Skowrońska, Frątczak, Sadurek and Skorupa will go there for sure.

And Mirek and Pycia said, that thay can not help at the moment.

  • Hm, it is strange because nor Glinka, Podolec, Skowronska or Fratcak receive well. In Murcia it is Walewska who receive instead of Glinka. And Podolec is better as OPP.

  • Glinka is not an attacer, she is receiver, she always was receiver, since 2003 in Polish Team she was attacer. At World Cup 2003 she was receiver, because great Frątczak played than. And all plans have gone adrift in 2006 when Frątczak got injury before WGP 2006. Than Glinka start to play as attacer, and since Bonitta whe is playing on her 'naturral' position. I think she is good receiver, i saw many matches and she is playing well. And Podolec start to play on receive at this sezon and i think she is receiving well too. Polish commentator emphasised, that Podolec have to play as a receiver and i agree with this opinion. All coaches and friends of Ania said, that she has knack to receive and she sould do it. :)

  • In my opinion this Polish squad is stronger that we had during ECH and WC. I'm glad to see Świniewicz and Frątczak in the team again. And Barańska at last. I hope we won't have any injuries before the tournament

P.S. Bonitta does not like Bełcik at all  But I think Skorupa isn't worse. She is definitely stronger mentally.

    The most important 3:
    POLAND-SZCZECIN-VOLLEYBALL

    5th place - Prediction Game - World League 2011 :D

I agree that is good to train Podolec in reception, because she will become a very important player for the future. But as for now I think Swieniewicz and Rosner are better in reception. So I will use those two + Skowronska, Liktoras, Dziekiewicz, Sadurek and Zenik as starting six.

About Glinka, she doesn't receive in Murcia this year, Walewska (who is a MB) is receiving instead. So may be that Glinka is more confortable if not receiving.

I know that Dziekiewicz does receive well. So she may play as Walewska, to help Glinka or Podolec. Liktoras is also old enough (in her times MB were mediocre to good receivers).
So Bonitta should find a formula to have on court the best attackers and the best receivers.

Just my opinion, it may be wrong.

  • Also Aleksandra Avramovic might make it instead of Ivana Isailovic

You are right, Avramovic is a good MB. She is playing in Italian A league. But then Sladjana Eric will be a good choice too.

About Majstorovic, why not call Vesna Tomasevic? I know, Terzic has a strange conception of NT.

I don't want to say he is not a good coach, but in my opinion leaving at home so many good players is not very intelligent. Serbia has so many potential. It is a pity that this potential is not used. I mean how it is possible to not call Spasojevic.

  • As far as Anja and Natasa are concerned, Terzic just said that they were going to have a serious conversation about their future on NT. Whatever that may mean.

Does this mean that it is not sure they will return in NT?? :(

  • Guidetti has invited the following 16 players to NT training camp:

Kathleen Weiß, Linda Dörendahl, Cathrin Schlüter (alle Schweriner SC), Mareen Apitz, Heike Beier, Corina Ssuschke (alle Dresdner SC), Maren Brinker (TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen), Dominice Steffen (NA.Hamburg), Tanja Hart (1. VC Wiesbaden), Kathy Radzuweit (Imola/ITA), Angelina Grün (Bergamo/ITA), Christiane Fürst (Pesaro/ITA), Hanka Pachale (Perugia/ITA), Cornelia Dumler (Ostiano/ITA), Margareta Kozuch (Sassulo/ITA), Atika Bouagaa (Istanbul/TUR)

If Kerstin Tzscherlich's recovery after her knee surgery works out perfect she might be in Halle but it's very unlikely. Thumm is not yet in a good enough shape to play in NT again. The only real libero in the roster is Dörendahl but it is possible that one of the OHs plays as libero (Beier or Bouagaa possibly).

  • Does this mean that it is not sure they will return in NT?? :(

Of course I'm no one that say that, but if they play in NT only when they want, I think Terzic is having the correct attitude. (And I assumed that's the case of course, but it's just my speculation)
So, I guess it depends on them, not on him.

  • Russia's 15 players:

    Setters
    Marina Akulova (Samorodek Chabarowsk)
    Marina Szeszenina (Uraloczka NTMK)

    Opposites
    Ekaterina Gamova (Dinamo Mosca)
    Julia Andruszko (Leningrad San Pietroburgo)
    Olga Fatiejeva (Zariecze Odintsovo)

    Middle Blockers
    Julia Mierkulowa (Zariecze Odintsovo)
    Natalia Alimova (Leningrad San Peitroburgo)
    Maria Borisienko-Borodakowa (Dinamo Mosca)
    Olga Zytova (Dinamo Jantar Kaliningrad)

    Outside Hitters
    Ljubov Sokolova (Zariecze Odintsovo)
    Natalia Safronova (Zariecze Odintsovo)
    Natalia Kulikova (Samorodek Chabarowsk)
    Elena Godina (Dinamo Mosca)

    Libero
    Ekaterina Kabieszova (Leningrad San Pietroburgo)
    Svetlana Kriuczkova (Zariecze Odintsovo)

(apparently this is from a Polish site, that's why the spelling of the names is a bit strange).

So Andrushko is in Russian team now...She's not a native Russian, she's naturalized from Ukraine or Belarus as far as I know. I'm not sure if Godina will be there, she had surgery on both knees just 2 or 3 months ago and just made her comeback in Russian Cup final last week.

  • Again no Artamonova! I really cannot understand Caprara's choices. Such a champion as Artamonova must be in NT. Especially now that Godina is recovering from surgery. Artamonova will still give an important help in defence/reception, if in attack she is not on her past levels now.
