    Lucky Brazil won vs Russia 3:1 (22:25, 25:23, 25:20, 26:24).
Brazil plays bad this WL and I don't know how should Brazil play that Russia win against them :? Russian team made so many unforced and simply stupid mistakes. Brazil did the same but in the first part of the match. In my opinion Brazil was so lucky, so many moments Russia could make a point but it was for Brazil. I'm very upset that Bulgaria leaves the tournament :cry2: It was a real chance to wipe out Brazil of the tournament.
Russian team couldn't accomplish that task.
It would be great, because as for me, I'm tired of seeing Brazil wining everything.
From now on Brazil will play far more better. I'd like to see how Poland will take revenge for WCH, hope it won't be like in Japan (12,22,17) and despite Poland isn't my favorite team of course I will cheer for them (of course if Poland wins today and will play Brazil in semi). So I wish luck to Poland.

So, the tournament is over, results of the final day:

    places 3-4
    Russia - Turkey 3:1 (19:25, 25:23, 25:23, 25:20)

    places 1-2
    China - Netherlands 3:1 (25:21, 22:25, 25:18, 37:35)

    Final standings:
    1.China
    2.Netherlands
    3.Russia
    4.Turkey
    5.Japan
    6.Azerbaijan
    7.Belarus
    8.Russia-2

    Best players:
    Scorer Neslihan Dernel
    Spiker Kirdar Gozde
    Blocker Alena Hendzel
    Server Riette Fledderus
    Setter Wei Qiuyue
    Receiver Yuko Sano

Matthias or colossus, can you tell me what happened to Godina? only 5 points, it's strange. Also, many people say that our libero plays awful, is that so? And how russian team looked overall?

    Results of the third day:

    Netherlands - Russia-2 3:0 (25:18, 25:15, 25:15)
    http://www.yeltsincup.ru/2007/09-ned-rus2.pdf

    China - Azerbaijan 3:0 (25:22, 25:23, 25:15)

    Japan - Turkey 1:3 (21:25, 17:25, 25:21, 17:25)

    http://www.yeltsincup.ru/2007/12-rus-blr.pdf

Still, Russia will play in semi against China, I think the best our team can do is to win 1 set, no more.
I have no idea why we lost today. No comments  .

I disagree, Fateeva and Safronova are not better in defense than Gamova and Sokolova, Gamova improved a lot in defense since Caprara came, you can see that in WCH matches and also Safronova plays bad in this tournament. She's in bad form or I don't know what's up with her.
Also, people say that our libero plays awfully as well :? .

So, it's a pity but Cuba for some reasons (I don't know why) is missing :(
Matches start on 28 of June.

    Quote from "colossus"

oh, did i misunderstand something here----zenya artamonova is the same as evyenya artamonova, the ex-spiker from russia---somebody help :o

Yeah, Zhenya is the same as Euvgenya, it's her, great all around player and my favourite in the past.

Nastja, actually not citizenship... but problem with dicuments. I think she has double citizenship greeck and russian. 2 years have already passed and she may play in NT but there were some problems? I don't know for sure what kind of problem
Maria said only about country, she didn't mention the place.

colossus, I also always wanted to see Zhenya in NT after OG 2004 but I think we won't see her in squad :( Caprara never ever mentioned Zhenya in his interviews. I guess he won't recall her. :cry2:

Hi colossus, everything you wrote is correct. I think the same way like you. Of course our aims are ECH and WC.
About best performance... I think this year it'll be more difficult for us to show such performance like during WCH. We'll see.

Nastja, you have a point also. i wrote that I'm not aggrieved or smth and I don't think that everyone's againt Russia and I never meant that Germany sucked and so on, disputes are pointless here :wink2:. However, thanks for your reply.

Some short news on russian team.
Borodakova after wedding and "honey month" (or how's it called in english) will go to Germany for shoulder operation. And it's not known when she'll join the team (some people said that she won't play in NT this season).
Gamova also has problems with shoulder, she'll join the team and start practice after Montreux.
Sokolova will join the team after Yeltsin Cup, and may be will play in GP.
Caprara also said that Godina will play for sure in Yeltsin Cup, while Gamova's paticipation is under question.
I also heard that Giovanni said that he wants Pronicheva to be the main sub for Borodakova but in Montreux Alimova subs Maria (may be thay haven't solved citizenship problem of Pronicheva yet).
By now that's all. I'll try to update info as far as possible.
