20 years old cuban setter Guillermo Cabrera ran away from Cuban NT stage in Mexico. Nowadays, Cabrera and his father (a basketball coach) remain arrested in jail in Mexico charged of illegal immigration. Guillermo Cabrera was part of a cuban first selection team that will take part of Olympic Tournament in Düsseldorf. 
A very sad history from cuban volleyball, one more time.
For the 2008/2009 season a maximum of two players coming from other National Federations will be allowed simultaneously on court for each Club. For the 2009/2010 season the Clubs will be allowed to register a maximum of four players coming from other National Federations, permitting the participation of two players coming from other National federations on court at the same time.
For the 2010/2011 season and on, nine local players and three players coming from other National Federations will be allowed to be registered per Club, allowing only two players coming from other National Federations, simultaneously, on the court at the same time.
“We have a full understanding of the European laws, but we believe that sport is not a matter of labour,” said Dr. Acosta. “The FIVB and CEV have agreed upon and will continue to determine how to best implement this plan in Europe, and will be ready to provide information upon request by the European Union.” The FIVB will not sanction future transfer activities, and a Club will not be able to engage players coming from other National Federations, if they ignore this ruling.

SECOND VICTORY FOR CUBA AGAINST CHINA
Cuban NT came back from 0-2 to win China in tie break 20-25, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19 and 16-14.
Some technical details: Henry Bell played as OH starter. OH Oriol Camejo played also as a setter, and spiker Wilfredo León (201m and 14 years old!!!!) also played in this match.
The MB pair for Dusseldorf could be formed by Robertlandy Simón and Odelvis Dominico.
Yadier Sánchez played for the second consecutive time as a opposite.
Yoandry Leal, Camejo and Bell were the OH. If Camejo plays as a OH, Raidel Hierrezuelo was the setter against chinese NT.

The only thing I know (and are very very bad news for him) is that young cuban spiker Michael Sanchez is forced to retirement with only 21 years. The reason is a double verthebral lumbar fracture suffered by Sanchez in the last 2007 Panamerican Games. This causes a permanent column unstability that avoid Michael playing volley. Hopefully, playing volley is the only thing he can't do.

I suppose that all of you are aware about veteran MB Pavel Pimienta retirement from Cuban NT. Other good and very experienced cuban player.

I think honestly that Cubans are made for volleyball.

Rafa was big playing opposite, but the more he's aged he used to play as a receiver. At least with Spanish NT. I don't know which role plays usually in Italy. In Moscow EC final against Russia he almost played as a second libero at the end of the match. And he did it very well.
He's our symbol. And he deserves to be olympian for the third time in Beijing. After the Games it would time to go for him. Spanish NT must go to Beijing just for Rafa and with Rafa.

For their very first time in their career, Rafa Pascual had a serious injury last week in italian A2. 
The best Spanish volley player in Spain's history has their achilles tendon partially (15%) broken. With 38 years and more than 500 presences in Spanish NT, Pascual would to be part of Spanish NT in Beijing.
Pascual NEVER misses a match by a injury so far.

Spanish NT is almost the same team now and in 2004. The only sensible change is the coach. And Anastasi isn't with us. And I think the Serbian NT in Izmir was the weakest (theorically and with all my respect) we can have against. Even Geric was injured in the final match and didn't play. But they had to brave it out and they defeated us with all the honours. Bravo Serbia.

Last five matches against Germany = 2W, 3L. Hopefully, the last 2 are the victories for us in 2007 Euro League and Euro Champs with Anastasi on the bench. Very difficult at Dusseldorf.

I don't know really if Tenerife Roster is this season full of quality or mediocrity. In any case it's full of foreign players..... 
And in this season, Universidad de Burgos roster is an unusual bet on spanish players with two veteran complements on court. First part of the season was very bad for they, second part is getting better......If the new FIVB rule is setted next season, Burgos will be a serious outsider in Spanish Volley. Or not. Who knows?
Personally, I admire deeply brazilian volleyball, cuban volleyball, polish volleyball etcetera. Really I admire deeply every single player being able to play volleyball at top level not depending their country. The only good criteria for me is the quality of their skills.
Lothie, maybe brazilian league is (as you say... ) a ......., just because your national stars are earning big and easy money in European clubs. And believe me: is an honour to see Walewska playing here.
The only thing I could criticize about the FIVB new limitation rule is their pressumible immediacy. With no adaptation delay it will be troubles around the world's leagues.
Ok Serdar. First of all. I'm not italian but I agree with you. The Italian League is now the best volley competition in the world in women and men. And It will continue to be with the 2 foreign players rule. In my opinion, the promotion structures of italian volley produces a big number of "average italian players" with very good skills ready to improve them playing matches at top level. This is not the case of my country, Spain. . Spanish money pays well to foreign volleyballers and doesn't pay so well to spanish players. For example, now in spanish basketball clubs, the biggest earnings are for spaniards not for foreigners. And the most important, if you have the best spanish players, you have the best results. This is the goal of this new rule for all european leagues.
The question is: Needs a league a big number of foreign players in teams to be strong?. Or it will be better a reduced group of top foreign players to be strong?. The first option reduces the national player projection. The second increases it.
What we need? Weak leagues with eternal champion teams full of foreigners? Or strong leagues with competitive and similar level teams with two non-selectionable players?. In the first case, money just makes the difference. In the second, money wouldn't be so decissive. I accept to pay big salaries to stars like Darnel, Gamova, Giba, Kazyski, and others. The other money must be for spaniards (or turkish in your case)....

This will be an italian problem. But, I think the "italian" average level is very good even in A2. If they complete their rosters with 2 foreign stars the big show must go on without problems. Usually the teams sign up some foreign players to cut their general salary cap. It's cheaper for them.
Serdar, In Turkey Women's League is very unusual to find out more than 3 foreigners playing in a team. Is the turkish league boring???. I have seen Vakifbank and Eczasibasi playing euro cup matches and their level is very good. Very competitive. Don't you think so??? 
And turkish women NT is growing up more and more each season.....

I prefer a weaker league if their consequence is a stronger NT. The good NT results attracts money, promotion, media and children. In long-term the weak league becomes a strong league, and then Spain is World Champion in Basketball, Handball, Waterpolo, Hockey and Silver Olympic medal in Beach Volley and much more.
Is accepted that Spanish Football League is one of the best in all the world. So what?. Spain football NT never wins!!!!!!!!
Have the brazilians (and Brazil it's merely an example 
) fear about some countries where right now there is a big market for brazilian players if the new regulation will be held? Could you imagine Brazil beaten by Spain in a Volley Olympic Final?. At this moment is just an illusion. Well, we beat USA in last World Basket Champs. Quality?. What about quality? Ten years ago it was impossible.......hehehe
Two foreign top talents are welcome. We could learn (very well !!!!!) from them. And after, we could beat their own NT's. This is the target and I agree with it.
