Thanks for posting the links to the stats Joana.
I know I've been bugging you in Facebook and Twitter about who won.
Hope Uni wins the next match. Do you have a link to a Youtube Vid?
Thanks again.

Too bad, I thought she would play. I was looking at Erika's pics on FB and since I don't understand Portuguese, I just assumed she would play.

I'm glad Leila Barros is back playing indoors. I am excited to see videos of her. Will she be playing OPP Joana?
-
I wanna see Malykh play in the 3rd.

In a way, it's odd to see a Russian team digging up a powerful spike and setting it for a quick and powerful counter-attack.

Now Salina is in.

I was reading through a lot of the comments and I mostly agree with NobodyKnows. I think that a lot of the Brazilian players are still young and they MIGHT still play good for a longer while.
I don't think that we will see a Brazilian team playing at major tournaments with the roster completely devoid of veteran players unless Ze Roberto is replaced as a coach. I think that only happened during the transition between Leila Barros/Virna Diaz generation to the Mari/Paula/Sheila generation. I remember seeing Fabi, Sassa, Sheila play in the Philippines during that period and they really played bad. They were still adjusting. But they turned out well after a couple of years.
I just think that Ze Roberto values winning that's why he does not radically alter his rosters. But just to give credit to Ze, he did give Daroit, Hage, the twins, Adenizia, and Juciely a chance to start in the recent tournaments. I also agree that putting Garay in the games was an overkill. But then again, she was needed to stabilize the team which is still a logical reason.
As to the comments about the US way of doing things, they have been through a lot of changes in Coaches so lots of new players came and went by. They only started doing well when Lang Ping came in. Prior to that, they always have the same faces - ahmow-santos, Scott-Arruda, Logan Tom, Haneef, Tara Cross-Battle, Sykora. When McCutcheon came in, they started to debut the NCAA players - the Penn State, Stanford, Nebraska generation because they needed new blood. That was commendable because they really had a good team going forward. The problem is, they fell short of expectations - WC, London Olympics, most likely due to lack of experience of the new players in tough "finals-type" atmosphere. I'm referring to Hooker, Harmotto, Akinradewo, Larson. Don't get me wrong, I am not criticizing the US way of doing things. I am just pointing out that making newbies play with veterans makes them better players.
As to what will happen to Brazil after Thaisa and the others retire, that's the problem of the next Brazil coach, let's leave it at that. All arguments about the future is moot at this point since all we can do is predict.
It's just the beginning of the current Olympic cycle so the other young Brazilan players can still play in the upcoming tournaments. Let's not be too hasty in our judgement and not too worried about the future.

I hope Kim Willoughby will not be a bench player/back-up player to Manon. I know she is listed as an OH but because her reception is not consistent, i fear she'll be playing as a back-up OPP instead. And I hope she'll be on her best behavior.

Monique reminds me of Leila Barros. It is actually her height in relation to the position which she is playing more than her style of play. I was reading some comments before doubting her ability to perform well in international games. With her play in Montreux and in Alasio, she showed that she might be able to. But I think we can only draw a concrete conclusion when she plays in the WGP with the top players from top teams attending.
Congrats again to Brazil.

Congrats to Brazil. I guess ZRG tried to find new players that will mesh well with the main NT players that's why he stuck with his rotations (or probably he was too proud to lose). Anyway, love to see Juciely as a starter even for a pseudo-B team. Pri Daroit had some good moments but was inconsistent.
I hope that whoever from these young Russian team who gets "promoted" to the main team will have good chemistry with the veterans. Russians are stoned face but I have a feeling that that's also because the veterans do not have a good playing relationship with each other (Goncharova, Gamova, Sokolova). Probably just a professional one.

I hope she improves in receiving and blocking.

Congratulations to Piacenza!

if unilever had lost to Osasco , would you think the same way about Fofao?
I still enjoy watching her play so even if the team lost, I still want her to play next season and renew her contract with Uni.
