Serbian OH Jelena Vulin cannot play in Stuttgart because she got no permission to live and work in Germany
...
Hard to imagine why this could happen. Ususally there are no problems getting a working permit for volleyball players - however: there are some strings attached, e.g. a minimum amount of salary...

VfB Suhl signed Nikola Nemcová (SVK). (source) Until the weekend the transfer of another player will be published.

England for 7th (?) consecutive time out of the tournament after penalties....
Will they ever be able to defeat any team with penalties in the future??? I doubt it
No.

The introduction of the pre-playoffs is a concession to the more and more shrinking season length. In the past the interational federations and their schedule significantly reduced the time, the players stay in their clubs. This - and the fact that the players cannot be given reduced salaries - more and more endangers the economic fundamentals of the clubs.
So all clubs agreed that it would be necessary to extend the season, because the regular round will be finished on March 9th. The pre-playoffs were considered to be fairly the best way to do it. (Also it will allow a short break for the top 6 clubs that are supposed to have a more dense shedule because taking part in CEV competition.) -
Next season there will be no more Golden Sets in playoffs. QF and SF will be best of three, final best of five series.
A broadcasting deal will be sealed within the next few weeks, clubs agreed on participating in production costs. The clubs also agreed on introducing pre-playoffs (7th vs. 10th and 8th vs. 9th, men and women).

This is a long shot but anyway... Is there anyone a fan of the NHL or ice hockey in general?
No...I just like the avatar pic in general. (Just kidding...) But this years NHL playoffs don't affect me very much, because all my favorite teams are eliminated. So right now I'm follwing the IIHF World Championships I'm quite surprised how good Italy prepared for WC. They deliver a good fight to us (Germany). The above mentioned "effectivity" (and Endras) are the only differences - as far as I can follow the match while still working.

Big loss for Suhl to lose their two big hitters, it will be hard to find good replacements for them. Also Cebic will probably leave...I read that Pucarevic, Isailovic, Speer and Steger have still contracts for next season.
...The club wasn't able to match the offers the players had from other intrested parties. Both stated that they want to play european competition next season, so apart from the financial offers another thing, Suhl is not able to offer next season. That's the way the business works.
Suzana Cebic never made a secret about her desire to leave, because she is able to get some quality offers in (financially) stronger leagues and so the club could prepare for her departure. Also she stated that if she might return to Germany, she will only come back to Suhl.
Pucarevic, Isailovic, Steger, Speer and Kalinovskaya will stay in Suhl. -
According to local Newspaper "Freies Wort" Vendula Merkova will also leave VfB 91 Suhl. Destination not mentioned.

She is an OH, right?
Good transfer for Dresden!
Yes, 1.92m, Outside Hitter, she was the 2nd best scorer of VfB Suhl last season. Which increased the market value. Suhl couldn't match Dresdens offer, financially and the fact that Dresden probably will play CL next season.

Martina Utla (CZE) will leave VfB Suhl and play for Dresdner SC next season. Source

Player rankings of playoffs, they are rather strange because finalists played 6 matches, semifinalists 4 and quarterfinalists only 2, but I'll just post them as they are on DVL site...
The series between Schwerin and Suhl easily can count as three or four matches

What is going on that every month there is news about athletes die from heart attack? In Volleyball, football etc. So sad. It's tough to say that - especially because you never know in which case it's true and in which not - but accumulation of sudden deaths of athletes can indicate some doping issues going on in the background. (Maybe you remember Alexej Tscherepanow...) But sometimes it's just bad luck or an undetected disease.
The prayers should be with her friends and family.

Close battle...as I did expect. I predict: Schwerin will win a 3rd Golden Set in this championship.
