Italy is going down..
I hope Leo is coming back as soon as possible. It's a shame for Italy to be lead 12-0 in an European Championship quarterfinal, having so good players at home and such a succesful history in the competition.

** Interesting remark. IMO, there is a reason why. Mencarelli is trying to get as much as he can from the present post- Picci & Leo generation, while waiting for younger talents (Cate Bosetti for sure, perhaps Letizia Camera) to complete their growth ... He's clearly trying to find the right alchemy between a bunch of 15 good (or very good) players yet lacking a real top-player (as may be Zhu, or Zaryazko, or Kim) ; I guess he prefers Signorile's setting to Camera's one since it fits better to Diouf and Sorokaite's spikes. I also guess he's missing very much Lucia Bosetti's attitude in reception- defense, for it would have given easier balls to the setter.
IMO, there's no alternative to this strategy (would you recall back Rondon-Ortolani instead of Signorile-Diouf?); moreover, I can already detect some progress in ITA play, despite many errors and setbacks. I would be glad for the girls if they would prove able to put to a severe test their next opponents BRA- USA-SRB, for this would mean effective improvement for my 'azzurre' .
Wish you well! - In bocca al lupo !P.S. = the only thing I cannot explain to myself is why bringing Gennari as a libero to the F6. Underestimating De Gennaro's Injury ? This decision has already involved heavy costs ...
I would definitely recall Ortolani, but Diouf too as her back-up.
Personally, I don't like Diouf, neither Sorokaite.Diouf is too slow, not a reliable scorer and Sorokaite eventhough is a strong attacker, every point is followed by a fault when it comes to her.Ortolani is not the best opposite in the world but at least she's experienced and there's a chance she comes back to her glory days form and she's pretty young too.
In terms of setting, I don't think it's worth keeping an average setter on court just because it fits better Diouf/Sorokaite.They rarely play at the same time and what's more tragic is that the others do not score, middles are not used and their games as a team isn't inovative at all.
And why using Gennari as libero when you have Merlo and Siressi?
I think every choice this new coach made determined Italy step backward.. but I guess time will tell better -
How long has Zoila not played? I'd not be surprised if they're both rather...heavy now
According to volleywood, she retired in 2008.

Martha Sanchez and Zoila Barros signed with CSM Bucharest.

Ognjenovic is probably the most elegant setter in the world. She moves with such grace it makes volleyball look too easy.
Netherlands looks good.

I really like Carli Lloyd and I hope she'll get her chance in NT when she's healthy, but Alisha Glass is doing a phantastic job in this team
I think healthy Carli would be as good as Glass. -
watching how bad Salaoru is playing .. I'm starting to miss baby Cazacu and Lapusneanu
-
I was thinking about the amount of money that is invested in their development as a team. Unofrtunately, our federation doesn't care about the team
-
Officially, she left the training camp "because of injury" as well as Sobo and Rogojinaru. The truth is they left because of the conditions and money. They are not to blame, the girls who are still there should be considered heroines instead
I don't know if she'll come back, but I hope she doesn't.Baciu is doing a good job and if Daiana comes back, even if she's playing bad, she would be on court and Baciu on the bench. -
I'm happy Romania meets Belgium in semifinal.I don't really care if we win or lose.. I would be glad to see a Romanian team as they really are.. hungry for victory.I hope they'll find their inner strength, eventhough our federation treats them like hell
-
Nneka Onyejwke 3 blocks and 1 attack.. 4 points out of the 5 Romania earned in the 5th set
There comes one more -
And a waste of talent in our team
The problem with the Romanian team is not the players.I mean.. there are good young players in the league who don't get the chance to play for the NT, but the federation. They change coaches too often and they select wrong playes. For example, Alexandra Trica didn't even play as a libero in her club.. she played as a OH.Why bring her to NT to play as a libero when there are 2-3 quite good liberos who really deserve to play? And players with potential are sitting on bench..
The same with Daiana Muresan. She was good some time ago, she had the talent to develop herslef but it seems like she never did.And look at Ioana Baciu... she's at the same lever or even better and it's the first time she was starter thanks to Daiana's "medical problems".And still.. they call this competition a way of testing young players
-
It's a pity Ioana Nemtanu and Germany NT have never crossed paths. It would have been better for both sides..

Nicole Davis will play for Dinamo Bucharest!

Is there any link for Romania - Bulgary?

Kim Staelens extended her contract with Romanian champion Bacau
This is great for Stiinta Bacau and for the Romanian champioship too. -
Kim Staelens won the Romanian League title with Stiinta Bacau few days ago.She played amazing in the second part of the league, being the MVP of the league & finals (at least for :D).
I wonder if her good performance was influenced by the Romanian League poor level or she really regained her golden days form.I guess time will tell..
However, in my opinion, she deserves to be part of the first 12 -
im just curious what is the meanin of 2004 in tomis constanta?
As far as I know, the year when the club was founded

@kadir_8
Skarbatun played for CSM Bucharest last season when the team won 4th place of the romanian league.
She is a quite good player, better attacker than receiver. She played as O in the first half of the season, then after the arrival of Karakasheva she was moved to Opp.I think Opp fits her better. -
It's painful watching Serbia playing like they do.
Gone away are the golden days
