what other matches, if this is gone so is the season.

The way Seda went down and stayed down on the floor, I really doubt she can return to the match.
she won't come back for sure.
personally I don't think she'll be available for olympic qualifications.
Starnight,
Turkish Cup winner does not get a place in Europe?
yes they do.
they clinch a berth in CEV cup. For them to go to CL they need to play the final of league competition. And if they do their spot in Cev cup is given to the club finishing the league at 4th position.
calderon giveth calderon taketh away.
I think it's MU-RO-NE! Means something like big wall as far as I know...
I hope Laola won't turn off after regular match and before Golden Set like in some other matches
thanks for the reply.
BTW if laola turns the stream off you can watch it from NTV's stream (NTV not NTVsport).
thank you too, elchicha
do the fans yell " muro oley" after kill-blocks ???
No
Now I know, her performance is not surprising anymore for me
it happens to the best of us.
I really am not a fan of female players changing their maiden names, which is like a must for girls of slavic decent.
at least they could use the hyphenated versions.
Aha, Ulanova is her name
She plays brilliantly so far
you know that she is Kabeshova, right?
CL Finalists will get qualification to the 2012 World Club Championships.
Zenit and SKRA got qualification in Men's Tour.
not quite true
in women's version winner gets to right to participate.
if there is a WC (because no asian teams are willing to play), then FIVB usually chooses CEV CL runner ups. This is not a rule but looking at precedents, it is a loose custom.
difference to men's game is that men's have 8 teams, women's 6.
Totally agree! Another wrong strategy is that signing Leo and Calderon together. In my opinion, for using a spiker such as Calderon who attack high balls and use lots of power instead of fast sets Even an average Russian setter would give proper sets for Calderon. In this regard, using Leo for setting Calderon is l,ke using Michael Schumacher for driving a van
If you have such talented setter who can play fast and with different variation you should have decent receiver so that she can use MB properly and even short attacker would be efficient with a setter such as Lo Bianco. If I would transfer Lo Bianco to my team I would totally take a good receiver-even she is short- (Del Core, Bosetti, Gözde or Esra) and a scorer MB such as Gioli, Poljak, Fürst, Fabiana or Rasiç instead of tall powerful winner spiker
Agree with that too...why doesn't she get chances to play anyway?? Natalia is old and slow, she really was a great player but I think it's time for her to stop, and Selime is good but I also remember Seray as much better player than Selime...
Well the easy answer would be:
She just can't receive.
She is just another opposite, GS tried to convert to OH, like many turkish teams did before with other players(wink* seda wink*).
Turkish teams notoriously cannot train OHs from their youth academies, instead they train Opp, who they somehow hope could play as OHs.
It's the turkish way. Even the men's team do this.
The real answer (imo) is poor strategy.
I cannot understand these managers. When you have a very decent turkish opposite, you don't sign another opposite when there is 2 foreigners rule, whoever that is. I think GS could be a much better team if they have signed an OH of Calderons caliber (respectively of course). I guess it was too good of a chance to make an impression when GS managers realized they can sign Calderon, and they couldn't pass that opportunity.
No, the battle will be Calderon vs a team Galatasaray is Leo and Calderon, Busto is 7 good players plus some on bench. Calderon played very impressive today, but just imagine she would be sick or injured. Galatasaray would be NOTHING without her, while Busto showed this week that they can play very well even when one key player is missing
Although I agree with you (per se), I feel like I should intervene here and say although she doesn't get much chance to play, Seray used to be (and I believe she still is) a very decent opposite.
She almost single-handedly carried GS to the semifinals three years ago against VB, which had Kinga, Grun, Nikolic and Neslihan in their roster.
Thanks for answer I hope she would have her best shape at championship!
no problem.
Is there anyone know how the situation of Damla Çakıroğlu? She helped a lot to TED Kolejliler, after her injury, TED lost lots of crucial matches
her cast was removed this week. according to her tweets everything looks better than anticipated. Hopefully she!ll be back before youth champs.
Groucho,
In regards to just say a player from Sth America, Africa etc. coming to Europe or a league outside of its own to play. I know that there are many different restrictions across Europe and some not stated. For example in Sweden i think they have a foreigners + EU being different to locals.
So just getting an idea of what its like out there. I understand most the leagues and read that FIVB tried to bring in the policy of 3 internationals in like 2008/09 but never heard anything more.
I missed this post.
sorry to get back to you this late.
I understand what you ask for, but I still think this information is very superficial.
In Turkey teams can field two foreigners at the same time, there can be one more foreigner on the bench (to be substituted with a foreigner fielded).
As far as I know (people from those countries may correct me if I am wrong);
In Italy there supposed to be three Italians on the court at all times.
In Russia there can be 2 foreigner on the court at the same time. (Don't know how many foreigners they can sign or bench)
I taught that Besiktas belong to big sport society in Turkey, well I was wrong, they are small club as you said, they have long history of not paying money to players.
Problem is that no official federation in this case Turkish, CEV and FIVB are not protecting players and volleyball will never be big sport until they don't realize that they need to protect players also. What will be if player decide to live club although club paid all the money to player? Of course that CEV, FIVB will suspended that player.
I am not a nationalistic person and frankly speaking don't have positive feelings for Besiktas these days.
Yet I think it is unfair to judge a whole sporting society with the deeds of a few.
Besiktas was managed by a guy who thought football and to a smaller extend men's basketball are the only important sport in the world, that's the reason why the rest of the branches suffered a lot financially. And they are not the only club in the world going that direction.
Look at Barcelona, who can claim they are an insignificant club, yet they decided to shut down must of its branches.
Moreover, let m tell you one of the "best kept secrets" in Europe. Turkey cannot be considered a rich country, when they have one of the lowest GNP per capita (~$9000) in Europe.
they have a huge population and the distribution of wealth is so skewed that makes them seem rich.
When you consider these facts, it is no surprise that many of the clubs suffer financially whereas some top clubs seem very rich. There is nothing weird or comical about it.
Reduced salary is very good idea.
Last year Fenerbahce after CL Semis should do it, this year Eczacibasi.
reduced salary is never the right answer. when human beings are concerned in a carrot-stick scenario one should always go with carrots.
in a decent club with professional manager, teams should include bonuses in the contracts they sign with players.
which means that the basic salary of a player should be lower and with bonuses granted after achieving some successes they should gain more.
I hope FBU wont belittle other teams in f4.If FBU will play like Rabita series, there is no team to beat FBU
hold your horses my friend.
Oh you misunderstood me here, I'm not trying to say that. I was trying to say that people can react to it in a different manner. From here it looks really weird but from Southern countries where people have such a "hot blood" as as we say it here, it maybe look differently. I'm not against Turkish volley community, I support a lot of Turkish teams!
you don't have to explain, I got you.
I just wanted to make sure we are on the same page.
and believe me we are.
most of the turkish volleyball players , commentators are complaining about this idiocy as we do here.
I sat in front of the TV hoping Arkas pulls an upset, and now I cannot help myself thinking that they should be eliminated.
