Probably not, but it's easier to fire a coach than to fire 7 players and find 7 new/better ones
Urbino with this roster simply is a weak team, only Petrauskaite can play on high level. Dall'Igna played really well in Piacenza last season but there she had 5 equally strong attackers. Negrini hasn't been a stellar player before pregnancy and has returned even weaker (which is no surprise), Van Hecke is another one of these players who are likely to remain a "talent" for ever and ever, and both MBs are very average players too...

I don't really agree with you about Van Hecke. Last year she disappointed me when she was called to substitute Djerisilo, I expected much more from her. But this year she's playing good, don't judge her just from one match. I think she can have a bright future in professional volleyball..
As regards Urbino, I think this team lacks of identity and their coach, who has just been fired, is well known in Italy for being a loser. Mbs are quite weak and the Libero never played in A1 before.

Yeah let's hope Barbolini, Lo Bianco, Gioli will stay away of Italian NT! I'm just sorry now for Galatasaray because Leo and Gioli together are a big threat for the team spirit. They can easily subdue Barbolini :hit: and become the bosses. Not good for team harmony :white:

Piccinini rejects Lo Bianco and Barbolini's accusations and replies to them.
Today on Corriere della Sera (the most important daily newspaper in Italy) her last declarations. The journalist describes her as a mix of anger and sadness, reporting that she cried several times during this interview.

"The relation with some of the National teammates has always been difficult. Since I was 19, when I was the first Italian volley player ever to go abroad, in Brazil, they have always been annoyed by my visibility and fame."

"But Volleyball is my life, I love it, and I don't want anyone else to be treated like me in the future. I am 33 years old, I have won everything except the Olympic Gold, and I feel like this is the time to speak. I have been silent for too long. May I?"

It's July, 2011. Francesca is in NT but she feels always tired and she doesn't know why. "Am I finished? I asked myself" She has blood test, and though results are not good, the NT doctor Fabrizio Terrazza reassures her and minimize. "It's just stress, nothing serious. He says". But the situation gets worse, Francesca is a shadow of her former self, and on October 17 when test results arrive to Bergamo, she finds out the truth. "The thyroid tests were all messed up. 7 times out of the standard. In the meanwhile my right ankle was swelling without a reason. I was very worried, I thought the worst: cancer, leukaemia...but at least the problem was detected so I started to cure my thyroid. How could Ferrazza tell me that I was ok??"

On October 18, Francesca decides to miss the World Cup and she calls Barbolini "Massimo I don't fell good, I want to cure myself, my health conditions don't allow me to help the NT now". "No problem" he answers. So this is how my "personal interests" started, as captain Eleonora Lo Bianco called them, making me look like the one who didn't go to Japan for laziness. But she knows how much I was suffering for her when she had her health problems.

During that period, the National Team doesn't care about Francesca's health problems. "Maybe I had become too uncomfortable for Barbolini: somehow I did him a favour by self-taking me out of the NT". Italy wins the World Cup "And winners are always right".

Between February and March 2012, Francesca tries to call Barbolini ("But he never answered the phone") and then Magri, the president of Italian Volleyball Federation, who tries to keep the situation calm.

Barbolini calls Piccinini for London2012. "And I realized it would be a nightmare" Barbolini asks her to do a 4 months preparation with the youngest players. She obeys without a murmur. But today she calls it "Mobbing". "I stood all this because I wanted to go to the Olympics, I wanted that Gold Medal we still missed"

In London, It's a disaster. Italy is kicked out by Korea. "In order to win an Olympic medal we had to play like a team, but we were not a team. Barbolini has a weak character, he is influenced by the players who are now in Istanbul with him. The truth is that uncomfortable people are kicked out and now I hope some other players will find the courage to speak. I have never been an hypocrite person: this system is wrong. 5th place at World Championships, 4th place at Euro Championships, 5th at the Olympics. And we could have won everything."

    Setters: Ferretti, Caracuta
    Opposites: Diouf, Ortolani
    OHs: Piccinini, Costagrande, C.Bosetti, L.Bosetti
    MBs: Arrighetti, Guiggi, Garzaro, Pisani
    Liberos: Cardullo, Merlo, Leonardi

Del Core: "What happens inside the National Team must stay in the National Team"

In other words, in her opinion nobody should know what happens in NT because it is something secret that must be strictly kept hidden... Typical Mafia behaviour

hahaha Loca Inside you are so loca! :white: You're crazy.

Togut is not a stranger! :aww: She's 100% Italian, born in Gorizia, North-East Italy from Italian parents!

And why do you think Lo Bianco is not one of those who fear competition and make a psycholigic war against her younger rivals? The only possible and reasonable explanation of Rondon, Camera and Signorile in Italian NT is that one of the players who fear competition is actually the captain Eleonora Lo Bianco! I think she did not want a real substitute so she asked Barbolini to call weak setters instead of Ferretti.
    And Barbolini did it.
I'm very sorry to say so, because Lo Bianco is one of my favourite players, but I think it's better for everybody if she retires from Italy National Team.

I've translated into English Piccinini's interview:

Your last Olympic adventure didn't end up well.
"It was disappointing, there are no other words. We weren't a group, there wasn't harmony among us and nothing has been done to improve this situation, so sad. How many months have passed since then? Still nobody has done an analysis of our final result, nobody taking responsibility of it or trying to explain why. This is at least weird."

Did you try to give your opinion?
"It wasn't the case to waste time, I knew it couldn't go better than this. I spoke with some of the people and told them what I thought, that's all. We weren't well prepared for London, and we weren't concentrated."

Are you saying this because you weren't in Starting-Six?
"I behaved like a professional player, despite I wasn't considerated I tried to resist and I avoided to create more troubles, the truth is that everybody was going its own way."

At 33 years old do you think you will stay in NT?
"I wish so. We'll see what happens, so far it's not even sure whether the coach will be confirmed or not"

Your future in the NT depends on this?
"Now he works in Turkey, we'll see what happens.. If he's confirmed it wouldn't be a good idea for me to stay. I love Italian NT and I think new fresh air is needed, by making a mix of old and new young players and regaining some enthusiasm."

You're saying so even if you are one of the oldest.
"Although I feel like I still have a lot to give to the NT, I'd be happy if there will be new young players who can take my place. I'm not like some of my team-mates who make a psychologic war against the new youngsters as soon as they join the team. I don't fear competition. This is what I meant before. There was a very bad climate in London, but I don't want to make the names now. For me it would be enough if somebody looked at our failure and realize that this didn't happen by chance."

Female teams look so full of rivalries. Is this true or false?
"When there was Cacciatori our dualism wasn't real, it was something artificial built-up by medias. The truth is that we were very respectful of each other and I looked at her career with a big admiration. I wish all rivals were like this. But actually female locker rooms are not so complicated. Maybe you don't make true friends in there, but I have found great complicities."

Caterina Bosetti will hardly play this season in my opinion. I wish she could be in another team.

You are totally wrong, Malagurski and Klineman are such great scorers but they are awful at reception. That's why Caterina will play a lot this year, she is a wonderful all-around volley player.

Bonetti (GM of Foppa), said in an interview, that they know everyone wants Diouf to play, the supporters and so on, and she will, but they know she is only 19, so they didnt want her to get this responsability alone, there is why they signed Blair Brown. ;)

Ok, but in my opinion Blair Brown will sit on bench most of time. Diouf is much better than her, and I'm pretty sure she will be one of the best opposites worldwide very very soon. She is the Italian Gamova.

Did anyone else notice that all the titular players of Busto are now very sympathetic blondes? Interesting transfer policy for club sponsored by Yamamay!!!!!!

    You're right, I didn't notice that
..even though I think Julian Faucette will soon take Brinker's place in starting-six and break the blond head style (unless she colours her hair)

i want to ask a question about Nati Osmokroviç..when she was playing in Italia....Did she use to be always a leading/star player or She used to play very well in some seasons ?

Just look at her statistics in Legavolleyfemminile.it
She has always been a leading player, especially in the 5 seasons she has played for Novara(in the last 2 she was fantastic).

I can't believe that the Olympic failure is the only reason of Ovchinnikov's suicide...then what should Massimo Barbolini do after the 3rd failure in a row(Beijing2008-Wch2010-London2012)... :what: :aww:
I think Ovchinnikov may have had some other troubles that we don't know, and will never know...
Anyway I'm very sad, this is a really terrible news.
