Lina is dead on her feet and Jatzko wasn't doing too terrible, so I don't understand why Lina starts 5th. Same for Weske who has been far worse than Kindermann today :what:

"Stautz suffered an unfortunate injury after the ceremony following the Turkey match. After the match, Stautz was taken to the hospital, where a fracture was detected."

Wow, that must be something like the second most stupid injury after that Ukrainian player who tore her ACL in celebrating her team's champion title :white:

Stautz has her whole right leg bandaged and her foot in such a giant plastic brace that you get for foot injuries :white: So maybe it's more serious after all.

In what parallel universe does THIS German line-up lead 2:0 against Brazil? :what:

Maybe Alsmeier and Weitzel have been what held us back all the time? jk

Remarkable set win by Germany, biggest plus again in blocking... (Ceku and Strubbe doing very well and the attackers together with them too) Bregoli is a very clever coach.

Well the only reason we won was 10 errors from Brazil. Yes, the team did well in serve and block, but they're not going to win without attack in the long run.

I was hoping Germany could put up another good fight against Brazil today, but Bregoli starts without Alsmeier and Weitzel :( I guess it makes sense after the intense match from yesterday, but with this line-up it's probably 3:0 Brazil in about one hour.

What on Earth was Szczyglowska doing there? The serve was going directly to Lampkowska, she was ready to receive and Szczyglowska threw herself in the way to make a mistake at 13:14? Iconic :gone:

Another piece of bad news for Germany. Stautz seems injured. She was sitting on the side with her legs lying on the chairs. Otherwise, she would have entered the court for service or reception in today's match.

For tomorrow's match against Brazil, she has been listed as the reserve player.

DVV's match report confirms that she got injured during warm-up but doesn't give any details. I had a look at the replay and she was standing with the team during the anthem and the player introduction without any obvious issue, so probably it's nothing too serious.

Seeing Thokbuom's performance in VNL so far makes me wonder why she played so little in Vallefoglia, she's very good in middle attack and her blocking isn't great but not terrible either.

Another completely ridiculous application of those idiotic rule test :wall::wall::wall: Stysiak did nothing wrong there!

EDIT Now the referee takes it back :white::rolll: So really nobody knows what to do :aww::gone:

Cesar became the service target starting from set 3. She passed 1 ball each in set 1 (18 passes in total) and 2 (22 passes in total). 15/23 in set 3, 10/22 in set 4, and 8/12 in set 5. In total, 33 balls in the last 3 sets. Out of those 33 passes, 16 were in position, and 4 were perfect. Even though Timmer's passes were worse than hers, Turkey still served most balls to Cesar.

If Germany had someone like Vargas, that would have been fine even when the ball is not good enough. But that's not the case for the current German team. They need middles to draw the opponent MB's attention.

I'm not sure if Nestler or Sambale is better at reception. If so, they could put Nestler or Sambale on court for reception and Cesar on court for defense when the team is serving.

Sambale is undoubtedly better in reception. I'm still mad that Bregoli hasn't even once tried Sambale as receiver and Nestler as defender in the friendly matches before VNL. The problem is that Sambale is the weakest defender of the three liberos and Nestler the weakest receiver, Cesar is decent in both elements and this weekend she has been doing great in defense, but her reception should indeed be better.

I agree about Cesar, she doesn't pass really "bad" and barely makes mistakes but as you say also doesn't pass excellent very often. In the beginning Turkey directed everything at Alsmeier but she was crazy good, so they switched to Cesar and maybe it was one of the keys for the turnaround.

About Cekulaev, it's mysterious to me as well but maybe her recent injury is still a minor issue and at times she's taken out precautiously? Anything else wouldn't make sense IMO.

Lina had such a good match and then ends it with a mistake ;(

However it was a really good match by Germany, they kept their level until the end and Turkey needed Vargasball to win. Yaprak and Ilkin also had good moments but the end was all about Vargas...
