Despite not being able to play GQ qualifier ( :cursing: ), German NT will practise for about 2 weeks in August, mainly to try out young players and already plan for the next few years. Invited players:

S: Denise Hanke, Lena Möllers, Kathleen Weiß
    Opp: Margareta Kozuch, Saskia Hippe
OH: Maren Brinker, Anne Matthes, Svenja Engelhardt, Sarah Petrausch, Patricia Grohmann, Saskia Radzuweit
MB: Corina Ssuschke-Voigt, Christiane Fürst, Berit Kauffeldt, Anja Brandt, Celin Stöhr, Nadja Schaus, Franziska Bremer, Eva Michalski, Rebecca Schäperklaus
L: Janine Völker, Lenka Dürr, Linda Dörendahl

Regina Burchardt stays with her club team to prepare for the new season and I think it could be the same with Beier and Thomsen.

Some new names: Svenja Engelhardt is a 24 year old OH, she studied and played in USA and last season in Schwechat/Austria, next season she will play in Stuttgart. I've never seen her play but what I read is that she is another player who is not strong in attack but good in reception/defense  Saskia Radzuweit is 21 year old OH from Hamburg, she has already practised in NT last year or 2 years ago. She doesn't play so often in Hamburg so I don't think she can be good...Celin Stöhr is 18 year old MB from 92/93 Junior NT, she developed very well in the last 2 years and will play in Vilsbiburg next season. She is 1.93 tall and considered one of the best talents in Germany now. As mentioned before, Eva Michalski is 22 year old left-handed MB from Hamburg, but I could imagine that Guidetti would like to try her as Opp. Rebecca Schäperklaus is from 92/93 JNT too, also a very talented player but she changed club very often in the last years and also switched roles too often, she wants to play as Opp but her coaches usually think she is not strong enough for that and want to keep her as MB. Overall she is a talented player, I hope she will find a good way for the future. Janine Völker already was in the team in 2010, last year she decided to leave professional Volleyball and play only 2nd league to concentrate on her studies, but next season she will return to Schwerin's 1st league team.

Tomorrow Italy will play a froendly match vs Turkey. I read it but I'm not sure...

It was today, Italy won 3-0 (13, 20, 24) and Turkey won an additional set 25-21. In 3rd set Italy defended 3 set points of Turkey.
Both teams played with the best lineups, Caterina was starter for Italy so I expect her really to be starter in OG too...

Wang Yimei is in bad condition :cursing:

I'm not surprised...she had a surgery and didn't play all summer, so I'm still surprised that Chinese coach took her and did not even bring an appropriate backup. If she can't play or plays bad, China has only 2 OHs beside her...

Wow! That's cool! So her family just adopted "grün" as their last name?
Are bouagaa, kulakova and radzuweit migrants too?

As far as I know, there are special laws about names of Russian immigrants, it's a bit difficult story because they are people whose ancestors left Germany 100 years or so ago, and their children/grandchildren/etc can easily come to Germany and live here, or at least it was like that in the 80s and 90s. They either take the name of the family when they left Germany generations ago, and if it's not possible to find it out, they take a translated version of their Russian name or just keep the Russian name (but this is seldom, most have German or German-sounding names).
Bouagaa's family is from Tunisia, Radzuweit has a Cuban father, Kulakova is from Kazakhstan and came as professional player to Schwerin in the late 90s and became German citizen just to play for our NT because at that time we didn't have any good MBs and really needed her.

Back to topic, I expect USA to take Gold, the other medals will be between Russia, Brazil, maybe China. Surprises could come from Italy and Turkey.

    :rolll:

Yes, I was surprised as well when I listened to her. Cuba and Final 08 were both wrong, what a good News-maker they are :wall: . But her accent, what do you think, which region it was ?

No idea, but it's obviously a German with Russian roots. I think they all sound like that, no matter where in Germany they live ;) And I had no idea that there's an own TV channel for Russians in Germany :what:

Alemannia Aachen presents two more transfers: young OH Laura Weihenmaier, Junior World Champ 2009, comes from Potsdam. American MB Kimika Rozier (23/180cm) comes from University of Southern Florida, Aachen's coach says that she is very athletic and his job will be to improve her technique to make her a good player.
Dutch libero Simone Legerstee leaves Aachen.

Report in dutch about Russian NT into Olympics, with a short interview with Gamova etc.

It's German, not Dutch, and it's just terrible  The commentator says that Cuba is a main contender for Olympic gold :aww: And the translation of Gamova's interview says that they lost the final in Beijing and it was very tight :wall:

It depends on several factors. Last summer she had a small knee surgery, but overall she never had too many injury problems. Actually the last two seasons have been the best of her career because as MB-style Opp she is much more effective than just as MB.
One problem is that she has diabetes, so she has to check her blood sugar constantly also during matches and trainings, but usually everything goes well.
Another factor is that she is married since a few years, so I guess she will want to have children soon as well...I'd not be surprised if next season would be her last.

For Me this is protest versus FIVB politic not CEV, because if it is true, in next year the strongest Teams will play in CEV EL Tour not FIVB World Grand Prix.

Problem is that CEV can't be sure that the teams will play EL instead of GP. In EL, all countries must host a preliminary, take care of TV broadcasting etc., and they will think deeply if it's worth spending much money to play against Hungary and Israel...

Germany definitely wanted to play WGP next year as preparation for home ECH, so for us it's a big blow...

What the heck :what: Strongest four team of Europe won't play in GP :wall: I really don't buy the excuse about not finding any host for tournament since Turkey is always volunteer to organize all kind of events of CEV and also I don't think Turkish Federation have any problem with money  But if it is a protest for Wild Card, I would be glad that happens, which I doubt though.

Although the case is as told, why would this rights given to teams based of European league instead of last European Championship or Olympic Qualification Tournament (this won't be fair as well but it would be less unfair  )

Yeah, I don't get it either...Before EL was said that the best two teams get the ticket and others would get the chance in September. It's pure unjustice to the teams who didn't play at all in EL like Russia, Italy and Germany and also Turkey who played with B team because the A team played WGP at the same time. Serbia was lucky to be in an easy pool, otherwise they might not have been in Top 4 of EL either and thus also out of WGP...I really hope that the last word in this case has not been spoken yet :!:
