I don't know if Serbia lost on purpose (maybe not), but I know, that 1/4 against Serbia might be very difficult for Poland. There are two main reasons:
    1) Serbians are the host and they have already played a bad game - against Germany. I don't think they will repeat it in quarterfinal... Of course, firstly Serbians need to beat Romanians, but I don't believe it will be any problem for the hosts. Even if they didn't show anything special in the previous matches.
    2) Poles haven't had a serious opponent so far (except Czech Rep., but it is also an average team), didn't have an opportunity to play the team, which have good volleyball skills - Serbia will be the first team like that. Because of that the game against Serbia might be an extremely hard test for Polish team.

Matches in the group stage were a piece of cake for Poland. The real fight beginns now. And I'm affraid of the result ...

Poland won against Romania with many substitute players. I liked especially Kwiatkowska, who showed some very good actions. Also Jaszewska was not bad. Our first "6" players could have rested before the most impotrant game in the tournament.

    Ehh... :D
Poland beat Czech Rep. in straight sets and should have no problem with taking the 1st place in the group. I expect another 3:0 against Romania, but maybe Świderek will give a rest some players, e.g. Skowrońska.

Croatia is out early - as always in last years.
Bulgaria didn't even won a single set and coming back home as well. Where are those times, when Bulgarians were fighting for medals? They're gone...

Nice job by Spain :) The playoff is a good result for them.
Congratulations also for Turkey :drink: No matter how the game was...

Spain fought really nice and was close to make cause big troubles for Russians. After all, Rusian team had problems against Spaniards. Too bad it didn't come to tie-break. It could have been a dramatic fifth set. However - congrats for Spain on a great fight after this team had been destroyed by Holland.
Today Poland plays Czech Rep. Probably it will be game for the first place in the group. Czechs had some problems against Romanians, while Poles played a training match against Israel. Today there will be the first real test for Poles.

    Jastrzębski Węgiel Jastrzębie Zdrój - Iskra Odintsovo 3:2 (25:19, 26:24, 23:25, 20:25, 15:13)
It looks like an interesting match it was.

    Poland-Israel 3:0 (-23, -7, -15).
A walkover. Only the first set was quite close; then Israeli players looked like scared babygirls :) Poles didn't even have an occasion to get tired before the important game against Czechs tomorrow

What does it mean? It's a rare name only met in Poland, Germany etc. But I like it very much, it sounds a machine-like, it suits perfectly to a terminator. And the Russian variation Kondrat is even better.

A machine. Thanks :D As I know it means something like "brave", "courageous, "strong". You can find this name also in English languages countries (Conrad), Spain (Conrado) or Italy (Corrado).

Hehe, nice  I can read it :)

    Nice analysys, pol.
In my opinion Polish team is slightly weaker than 2 years ago, but it doesn't mean we can't dream about medal.
"YES, WE CAN!" ;) Our male team won bronze - why shouldn't our girls be able to do this?
I also miss Kinga Kasprzak. She would give a lot of fire to the team. We have to play without her. It is a problem, but not a disaster. I hope girls handle with everything.

Congratulations to Serbians for their title. I can't say, that medal for this team is a big surprise, but I didn't except them to win the whole tournament. Italy also made a good result, afert some bad years.
Poland were much worse than Italy in the semifinal, but the bronze medal match was just brilliant by our players. This victory over Russia was almost as good as that in 2006. I will remember it for a long time :)
The bronze medal is a big success for our team, which played with not so strong roster  I hope Zagumny and Wlazły were watching the match in TV yersterday and envying that great moment :P
Fantastic tournament by Kubiak, great moments by Kurek, Ignaczak and Żygadło. And Jarosz yesterday... I think his play was his answer for all the criticism of him, also on this site, also from me...
Russian - big favorites without a medal. They always play like boxer after and knock-down in 3rd place matches. It was like that in 2009 and this year too.
