F*ck you, sportdeutschland.tv and your ads! I mean it! It's not every 5 mins, it's every minute and a half or two maximum. Firefox doesn't open it for me, therefore I can't use AdBlocker and I fail to find a decent stream. I missed most of the first set. F*ck you, sportdeutschland.tv!
The last 7-8 minutes were okay for me. But the video quality is constantly changing from 1080p to 360p and even to 240p. And them back again to 720p and 1080p. Way below the streaming quality of Laola1tv!

Hahaha, Voronkov's look
He is the typical Siberian muzhik in an old army uniform, consuming vodka and pickles at noon with his mate (who is the same type of guy)
-
Is it just with me or sportdeutschland.tv has become a real pain in the ass?!
Some commercial breaks appear in the middle of the rallies every 5 minutes. So I had to enable my AdBlock. Which is fine. But then instead of commercial breaks, the stream turned offline every 5 minutes and I have to refresh it all the time. So annoying!

Just came accross this article from sportal.bg and I wanted to share it with you. I don't know how to react on this, to laugh or what. How do such people exist?
What is the story:
Nayden Naydenov (former NT coach, during the OG2012 semifinal run) was asked to analyse our performace during this year's WCH:
"We've reached the bottom! It was the same case when I took over. Then Kaziyski and Zhekov left and also all the quarrels happened. However, we managed to build a team that believed in itself and made a great tournament. After we started again the next year, the things didn't work as well. The team started the previous WL in a very convincing way. We came out with confidence, desire and team-cohesion, because we managed to do something truly exceptional in the Olympics. The difference between standing on the line and behind the line is just one meter, but one meter in this case is a huge difference [it's a direct translation, what I think he means is 'the difference between a head coach and an assistant coach is huge']. Statistics and analysis is one thing, but team-cohesion is another. The team was destroyed because of the head coach [Camillo Placi]! Enough with this xenophilia [couldn't find a better word; basically idolising foreigners at the expense of locals]! It was nice that he became a Bulgarian. But this man has done nothing for Bulgarian volleyball. We don't need statisticians and analysts but people who can stand on the line and love the team! We need Bulgarians! I remained Placi's assistant because I wanted to help in any way I can. I did it with all my heart because I wanted to help our volleyball. But I couldn't do it because a lot of my responsibilities were reduced."

the tickets' price was three times higher than for match in Katowice. This is Polish federation for you... Besides, believe it or not, but people were really confused who to support and chear for Chearing for Russia this year, 17th of September was real tragic conflict and I have some friends that didn't go to see match, because they didn't know how to behave. It was "I will be happy if they win, but there's absolutelly no way I will go and chear for them. It's better not to see it at all". But this is of course 1% of empty chairs. The rest you should explain by ridiculous price.
Oh I see. But still, the empty seats were mostly in the cheapest sectors (on top at the 'balcony', and on the sides). And besides, Lodz is a big city and volleyball is sport number 1 in the country. And you don't have to cheer for anyone, just come and watch the game.
But definitely this decision by the federation is odd and economically wrong. If the tickets were three times cheaper but the hall was full, they would've got bigger profits.

Heynen is hilarious
An Iranian spikes out. His coach wants video challenge for a block-out. While the 2nd ref is checking the replay, Heynen goes to him and says 'The ball was in, but there was no block. So we win!'. Then the refs do call a block-out. However, the slow-mo replay showed there was none whatsoever

This guy can rule the volleyball world!

Half empty hall for Brazil Russia in a F6 WCH game And the atmosphere is like in a classical concert. Is this a protest of some sort?
I love how just one person shouts "РОССИЯ РОССИЯ", and all the others in the hall are quiet Is he a member of staff? Oh, there are a few children shouting as well.
Edit: Iraaan, don't break my heart now

Let me join the discussion about Poland. I completely agree that they are the team with the toughest draw. In other words, they are f*ucked. But:
1) The team's management/coaches/analysts could have foreseen this happening. It was not like 1 in a million chance to draw Russia and Brazil. However, they could've avoided at least one of Brazil and Russia by beating France. France used their benchers, so Poland could've pushed harder to beat them. And if they did, now they would've been in the other group in the place of France. I count that as a mistake by the Polish side.
2) By reading the Polish users' comments, it's as if Poland are already buried. If that's the attitude in Poland and amongst the players - they can already pack their bags. But, for me, the chances in this group are 33/33/33. Poland also have the support of their home crowd so, I fancy their chances. This is the tournament of surprises and nothing's indicating that they won't continue in the third round.
3) FIVB revealed the format months ago and by today they have done everything according to this format. So Poland was just unlucky and that's it. There isn't any conspiracy against the team. And as I mentioned in point 1), Poland could've 'controlled' their luck but they didn't choose to do so.
Finally, although a lot of us wrote Germany off (including me to a large extent), I have the feeling that they can play the dark horses in that Pool G.

Am I the only one who likes the draw
From a neutral perspective, I'd say it's brilliant.

Ugly basketball. USA are weak tactically, have terrible team defence and team offence (combinations, team-play, etc.) and play with less passion than the European teams.
But their athleticism and individual skill prevents them from getting exposed.
This is like watching 5 individual sports in the same court at the same time.
Respect to Serbia for the tournament!
-
France and Iran have been in the same group throughout the championship. Brazil & Russia, and France & Iran can play three times.
Please, don't tell me that the semifinal match-ups are determined by a draw again
-
At least Poland has Kubiak, who plays similarly to Winiarski. Pavlov is missed indeed, and with no real OPP to use in 5-1 inversions, I wouldn't be surprised if Voronkov keeps using Muserkiy as backup OPP with Ilynikh coming in every once in a while. Brazil, however, doesn't have another receiver as good as Murilo and the other OPP, Renan, is still fairly inexperienced and was barely used in the tournament so far. There's still Sidão.
Fonteles?

The best scenario for the teams from the former Pool E is to be in a group with Brazil/Russia and Germany. Thus, they can beat Germany (who are arguably the outsiders) and being in a group with one of Brazil and Russia, they will avoid them for the 1/2 finals. Being in a group without neither Brazil or Russia puts them in a good position for the group stage but it also almost 100% means that they'll have to face Brazil/Russia in the semis. But, I don't know what's the situation with Brazil and how many injured they have (Wallace + Murilo + Sidao?). They have proper replacements for each but nevertheless they'll be weakened.Having said that, I would HATE to see the two groups like this:
Group 1: France, Poland, Iran.
Group 2: Russia, Brazil, GermanyAnd to my knowledge, there is a 17% chance for it can happen.Edit: Now I saw the results and all I wrote is now for the bin.
Woooow! I REALLY like these groups. Great chance for France/Iran/Germany to reach the semis. And we have a second group of death now
-
Poland without Winiarski beats france 25-18 in first set. Tillie and N'gapeth are out, Marechal and Tuia are in - it's first set by Tuia in tournament but both Marechal and Tuia played in Poland in last season...
Smart by Tillie! They're not playing for anything important and he can't risk his key players getting injured. Look what happened to half of the Brazilian team.
-
I admire the on-court behaviour of John Speraw. Respect! Such a tough situation, wrong referee's call, your team losing, yet he's not complaining, not criticizing, keeping his composure and just doing his job the best he can. That's how a coach should look like! Unfortunately, team USA is out. I wanted them to make it to the next round, though. But we'll bee seeing more from Iran then
I second that!
What is the situation with Brazil and Russia's injuries now? This is terrible news but both teams did it to themselves. They could've rested their key players in this meaningless match. And with the injuries now they are weakened which makes the F6 even more contested.
Is it just me or the level of volleyball has increased a bit (or maybe decreased) and we have much more teams competing for the top prizes. We have Iran and France in the very very elite (Iran has never been here and France was having sporadic performances). And even with Italy and Bulgaria as punching bags, we had 10 teams fighting (almost) on equal terms for the 6 spots.

THANK YOU ARGENTINAAA
I just don't know what is all that joy from them. As if they qualified themselves
-
Btw, apparently Serbians had a little night out in Łódź last night Yeah, we could tell They were spotted by Polish journalists and some fans
Hahah, so typical

Wrong call! Should've been block out. Tough on the USA and can be very very costly.
