Unfortunately, it's not that simple. if USA beat ARG 3-2 and Iran beat Serbia 3-1, USA and Iran would habe an equal number of points and wins and also sets ratio would be the same 18-11. Points ratio is better for USA team so far. I think Iran would still need Argentina's win today.

Yes but Iran won vs USA so they will go ahead from the direct matches, surely?

AAACCCEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! ARGENTINA, YOU LOVELY LOVELY LADS! :obey:

Now Iran are ahead of the USA and have their destiny in their hands!

Btw, Argentina are exhibiting some wonderful volleyball. Smart, well-conducted by De Cecco and with superb defence. I wonder how they are not in the game for the F6.

Triglav, you are missing the point - they are called in the NT and they came. Once you come, you are obliged to do your best, if not - don't come when called. Furthermore, the strong NT is the way the next generations of volleyball players to be seen and have a career, this way every generation pays it's debt to the previous by helping the next, just like society works. This is not question of nationalism, it is about deccency and moral.

Why did you suddenly assume that they are not playing their best? Often it's not about motivation and commitment but about confidence and skill. And how can you link the 'welcoming' bit to what you wrote, if it's not about nationalism.

End offtopic from me, I'm not replying anymore.

this is bcoz Pavlov is not on the game list. when russia makes the double sub, they introduce volvich into the nominal opp position. muserskiy then moves into opp as soon as action starts and volvich goes into the middle.

Yes, seems legit. But I still don't understand why they won't give some game time to all their subs and rest the starters.

I don't know why people still argue with him. What are you trying to achieve?

Maybe you're right. My fault. I had to let off some steam and maybe I shouldn't have. I was annoyed by a similar incident where a swimmer was blamed for switching nationality to Turkish so she can continue to be a competitive swimmer and maybe achieve her dream.

Anyway, both Iran and USA lost their 2nd set, it's getting interesting now.

I never understood people like you who expect fans to tolerate when players are not giving their best for their NT's and are saving it for their clubs, when they play without desire, without courage, without ambition. They wear the Bulgarian jersey and they OWE eveything to their country, to fight for it. We are not their mothers, we don't support them in crime.

No they don't. They pay their taxes in their countries and live under its laws. That's it. We're not in the 18th century anymore. You don't miss out summer holidays and time with your family while you work your ass out without getting paid for something as vague as 'your country'. Nationalism is a thing of the past and if it is still lurking aroung in some countries, it will eventually die out by the next 50-100 years. Whether you like it or not.

And yes, I'd totally understand if a player refuses to play for his/her NT so he/she can rest and have some more time with his/her family. And most of all, people who have done less for 'their country' cannot say a thing to them! They can just marvel at them, support them or keep quiet.

I think Bulgarian NT are expecting warm welcome if they return to Bulgaria in a group

I never understood such people like you - 'welcoming' NT players from any sport who didn't perform well and stuff. Yes, they represent the country but they don't owe you anything. Do you think they don't want to win for themselves? And they're going there thinking 'Bah, I don't care for myself if we win or not, but we're playing for raylight's and any other Bulgarian's honour so we have play our hearts out' ?

If you can represent your country better, call the coach and start playing. Fans only ought to comment, not complain or blame anyone from the team.

Apologies if you wrote it just commenting what might happen but not thinking it yourself.

To be clear, I'm talking about Philippe Blain who is sitting on Poland bench. (Had Antiga been Poland coach, I think, Iran, Serbia and Italy would have had some more points :).) The clash between ex and current coaches may bring some intrigue. Obviously, unless they synchronize their plans for a glorious tie-break win in advance.

Either that might happen or just France won't play their 100% because it's different when you've already done your job. Yes, they can play for 1st place but even if they lose, it won't be the end of the world. With Poland, on the other hand, it's 'do or die'. All I'm saying is that motivation is a funny thing and often can't be controlled cognitively.

This is volleyball and everything can happen. First spot gives some advantages plus should I point out that the coaches of both teams are hmm not complete strangers to each other?

Exactly because of Antiga the French might have some sentiments towards Poland. And because for them 2 sets is enough to clinch the first place, they can then stop playing.

If Iran had won this, they were in the F6. Because they will play against Serbia who have nothing to play for and who will be more anxious about watching the USA-Serbia basketball final than playing their last group game. On the other hand, Poland will play France who wouldn't have qualified and would've been playing for sth. And 1 lost point for Poland meant that they are out. So this win for Poland was extremely, extremely important.

It is really unfair that a top team like Iran should quit on this stage. 8 teams, not 6 should be in the third round, groups or eliminations, also the draw could be fair.

a group of France, USA, Poland, Brazil, Russia, Iran is the real top 6 in this tournament. Just the draw didn't allow it. And I don't want to understate the achievements of Canada/Germany.

Now I will go around every church, mosque and synagogue tomorrow to pray for USA to lose. Nothing against USA, it's just that there is no other way for Iran to qualify.

IRAN :obey: :obey: :obey: You simply cannot hate this team!

Edit: And I almost forgot - congrats to Poland for qualifying. The WCH F6 wouldn't have been the same without the host nation in it.
