Yes, I knew that, he mentioned sometimes that he played against Conte and Quiroga's dads. And I don't dispute his volleyball knowledge and understanding. I'm only telling that I don't like his accent(he can do nothing about it, so do I) and his pronunciation of some players' names. I mean, we can spell all the English and American names, so why can't they spell the Eastern-european players' names correctly? The Britts for 4 or 5 years never learnt that DImitar BErbatov is spelled actually DimItar BerbAtov. Sorry for

It doesn't make you a bad person if you're with such accent. Nothing personal, but when i hear someone speaking as if he has a boiling potato in his throat saying "nat" instead of "not" or "tap" instead of "top" it really pisses me off .You know that I'll smack your face if I ever hear you speak with this accent It's too arrogant and gooey at the same time.
It's like: "Mikaylowv's serve gat intou Kirowgah, then Facundow Contey spikes but Volkav or Mazurskiy blocked him " -
Here I agree only to some extent. His constant WOOOOOW-s were kinda irritating to me, they sound just too American Apart from that he made some mistakes with players' names and zones - something a good commentator and a knowledgeable volleyball fan should know. Otherwise, he was commenting well enough, I agree, I definitely preferred him to our national TV commentator even though the American guy should still improve
You're absolutely right! He was too much of an American, that's why I prefered links with Russian or Polish commentators. He made mistakes that were not annoying at all for ex. old info(he said that Volkov plays in Cuneo). But the most annoying was his American voice(I hate,resent,disgust American accent) and how he pronounced the players' names. And also when s.o. makes a really good game, he doesn't stop praising him. And I do prefer Sasho Yovkov with all his faults and cliches because of his calm, and good-tempered voice. But that's just me
I don't know what are your commentators in the Netherlands but this yankee isn't at highest level.
btw. My favourite commentator is Todor Popov from Ring - he has the same friendly(not arrogant, not formal) kind of intonation like Sasho Yovkov and he makes the games really interesting to watch. I remember once Zenit was trailing a lot and the opponent was having a set ball and Popov said: "Сетът е загубен от Казан, няма значение кой е на сервис" and then the cameras showed Maxim Mikhaylov preparing to serve and Popov immediately said "Оо, тука има значение!" -
Stters: I am not so impressed from Mitev, he is an avarage-below-Zhekov level. Bratoev as a remember has a good game with MBs and like to play in the middle a lot however his passes towards the wing spikers are inacurate. The 'macedonian' Gjorge Gjorgiev ....well...i've sen him playing this season and he is honestly really akward, IMO and has a bit of a character too huge serve but his game varied from interesting to utter crap too young to tell, I think he is only 18???
Juantorena?
seeing is believingWe need players with character (that's why i don't want Ananiev and Alexiev in the team). If he's 18 like you say and with the fact that he said that his desire is to play for our NT, I think he deserves a place at least for the B team. That's the Macedonian.
Juantorena is now Italian so dreams broken -
I don't see why Stoychev should turn Niki Penchev into a libero? He can play as a libero if needed but still??? Rado said he is glad that Niki is willing to learn and is giving a lot of effort, so I think he will try to educate him or at least give him more time. Penchev is not that bad in attack eighter. His biggest problem is the jump. May not become a second Kaziyski, but could be a very technical skilled player, playing smartly with block outs and also Niki has a huge serve! kid is only 19 year old, give him some time!
Zhekov's substitute is a big problem. Niki Ivanov will never come back to play NT. Even if he does so - he is 38? He can't play so many years. It could be very good if Ivanov comes back to just teach the youngsters and help them grow but honestly I don't see this happening. You know the scandal wich took him out of the team some...how long...5-6 years or so???Niki Ivanov is not comming back, forget about that...Georgi Bratoev and Mitev - that's what we have. Hopefully there are some youngsters with good potential at this position too.
I was thinking a little bit about how many opposites we have and not so many OH and come with the idea to turn Boyan Yordanov into a receiver What do you think? I can't remmeber if he ever played as receiver and is he capable of reception, but it could be really cool, won't be?
There is really no point of having so many good opposites which are totaly useless and lacking an OH... I also hope Valentin Bratoev will recover from that injury cause he was playing just amazing before that!
Alexiev and Ananiev probably out, but the libero will stay IMO
Todor Valchev? Alex Simeonov?It's a pitty that Niki Nikolov's injured and I like him very much but he is and will be our least concern. We have enough MBs.
I'm not saying to turn Niki Penchev into a libero, just to use him as a libero in the ECH. After all, it will help his recieving too,I think.
About a setter, I know there's no chance for Niki, I was rather dreaming(and at the age of 38 he's still better than all of our setter, except Zhekov). I like Mitev, but he's nothing special. Bratoev sucks IMO. Maybe we could try Borislav Georgiev or the "macedonian" from Marek, forgot his name.
About the opposites, well Sokolov was an OH early in his career, but he's too big for that now. Boyan has the best figure for a receiver. We should try to trade some opposites to other countries for receivers. Todor Valchev impressed me but he plays in Bulgarian championship and it's not comparable to the level of european volleyball. He is in B team, right? I always mistake Simeon Alexandrov and Alexander Simeonov. The one in Lukoil isn't good enough, IMO. Skrimov(haven't seen him play), Katrandzhiev (too old ?) ? Do you read that Juantorena said that if Rado takes up the team he could become a bulgarian citizen? I'm not aware if he could legally play for the team then, but theres an OH for you -
Little Penchev as a libero? I don't know. I just like him as a receiver. I hope that he will play as a libero only on these friendly matches not always. Not on European Championships. I mean he is soooo young. He can still develop and become a very valuable receiver, even more than he is now.
What about amazing Salparov? Not return to the game?Sorry, I'm not Bulgarian but I felt the need to intrude
Salparov will not play in the Euro Champs. And there is no problem for Penchev to be a libero and then to return to OH position.

What do you think, is it good for the team if Rado tries to put Penchev as a libero in the friendly matches and trainings to see how it goes and probably to become a libero for the Euro champs. We lose a good receiver this way but right now our libero totally sucks! Also I've read somewhere that Rado just hinted in an interview that for the Euro 2011 he would try to put some new guys, because now he's aware of the players' abilities and he would replace almost half of the team(not starting lineup ofc). I think he will throw out Ananiev, relegate Alexiev, Niki Nikolov will replace a center(most probably Gadzhanov) and he will try to put another setter. That's my opinion,though,not his words.
If only Niki Ivanov could return to the NT to be a substitution when Zhekov gets exhausted, because Zhekov makes many mistakes then. -
Now I remember someone mentioning that the Russian victory wasn't reflected on their sports' sites or newspapers.
Now I've read something really shocking for me about the team and its return in Russia. It was on a bulgarian site here's the link for all who know bulgarian language - http://volleyball.sportal.bg/news.php?news=315354What's all about? When the Russians(without Alekno and Khtey, who bought their own tickets day earlier) return home to Moscow and not only that there weren't any fans around but almost nobody recognised them?! And... they didn't seem confused about that. They travelled 24 hours in a economy class(don't know if that's the term in English) flight, because after the World Championship in Japan 2006 they were punished not to travel with charter flights. I always admire such attitude by a sportsman(there are too many superstars in every field of life these days), but such an attitude by the country is really strange. They are treated like soldiers, not like sports champions.

You can notice as well the difference between the unstable young Biryukov from last year, who served the last ball out to give Brazil the title then, and this year's determined starting OH, who totally made us forget that Berezhko exists.
I can't agree with you here, I think Biryukov is the weakest player in Russian team. He's not mentally unstable-quite the opposite, he has too much confidence(can't explain it in English, you'll get my point, he's a "perde"), but he's totally unreliable. When he's trying to spike a ball against three blockers, he's spiking it like he spikes it against one blocker. In the end of the second or third set,don't remember, he won the last point and the set with such a spike from zone 6 against triple block. But that was absolute luck, if you remember the second match vs Bulgaria, in the 4th set, in 23-23 or sth, he spiked in the same way but from zone 4 against a triple and afterwards in the set ball he was blocked.
I mean, I give you all these examples to show you that this guy just spikes the ball everytime with power and hope to pass the block. And Russia do have a problem with the second OH, from several years(i don't like Berezhko, too;Khtey is class,though) and, just like Bulgaria, can't find a RELIABLE receiver.
-
Oh...I was too focused on Bijelo Dugme and Bregović...
Prani Valjak is amazing! Thank you for showing some of their songs, I'm totally in love now I love especially 'Sve jos mirise na nju' It's so beautiful. I can't get enough of this song!Oh, I'm very happy for you that you liked it. If you're in need of more yugo songs (or any songs), just tell me.

You know who's gonna be MVP, right ?
-
Marlon with a deadly serve. Giba is like a gypsy king with this mustache
edit: Damn, Marlon isn't supposed to be a substitute! And Brazil's weakest link is the opposite position. If only we could lend them on of our opposites for Marlon. It's a win-win deal.
-
Biryukov hasn't got a spiking technique at all. He is more of a "prayer" style player - slapping the ball into the block with his eyes closed and hoping not to get stuffed. Just like Todor Alexiev.
-
Russia is not receiving well. Their serves can't make up for their bad reception.
-
They are the best! But I don't like their early years, with Bebek. Too rocky for me. But I like almost every song with Tifa and especially with Alen Islamovic as a lead vocal. Alen's voice is absolutely fantastic. Apart from the three songs above my favourites are Ako ima Boga; Evo,zaklecu se; Lazes zlato, lazes duso(here they mention several times your favourite word); Hajdemu u planine; A i ti me iznevjeri; Lijepa nasa domovino and some others i can't remember right now.
Have you listened to Parni Valjak ? They put their chorus or refrain later in their songs, so the first half of the song is a bit different than the second.
Here you go some songs which are a bit slow and sad but anyway:

Jesus, are all of you women like this when watching sports?
It's as if you watch porn or something. Focus on the play!
Ok, about some look-alikes:
Saatkamp looks like basketball player Pau Gasol;
Andrey Zhekov looks like actor Guy Pearce;
Mikhaylov should be in the Terminator 5 sequel, I think I saw one of his eyes lighting in red when he was preparing to serve.
Muserskiy looks like bigger version of tennis player Marat Safin;
Vlado Nikolov is dr Wilson from House MD; (you may find it weird, but I find similarities)
Christian Savani looks like Dragan Travica
Roberlandy Simon looks like a wardrobe;
Rodrigao must take part in a film playing "only brute force with no brain" monster;
If I think about sth else, I'll mention it. -
What Do You think about that?
Oh yess!! That's too good for one , so I will give it three
But it's not the real gypsy music, you know. Gypsy music is more like this:
or something like this:
There are not many Yugoslavians on the forum, but there is (are) ex-yu rock lover...me! lol I absolutely love Bijelo Dugme and Bregović Also Azra is pretty cool! Balkan music is just amazing!
