Dear Mr. Wei, FIVB
President,
Dear Mr. Meyer, CEV
President,
Dear Mr. Matesa, COC
President,
Dear Mr. Rogge, IOC
President,
Dear Mr. Hickey, EOC
President,
It's been time that you get informed
about the very critical situation in Croatian
Volleyball. Just two days ago i and all
my staff members (all italian and all
professionals: assistant coach,
phisical trainer, physioterapist and scoutman) of the
Women's National Team had to resign
because the Croatian Federation and its president Mr.
Zdeslav Barac did not fullfil ANY of
the obbligations they took with the National Team
Staff and Players.
It's time for the whole Volleyball
World to know in which conditions these people (Staff
and Players) are working since long
time (years!!!). It was the "so-called-president" Mr.
Barac who contacted me and we reached a
"personal-gentleman-agreement" for me and my
staff to become the Head Coach of the
Croatian Women's National Team.
I and my Staff as well as different
young players started to work in the beginning of may
and we took part to the European League
with a list of 25 players and we were training
all days with 16 of them. Well, we were
all working for free (because we never get paid
as promised by Mr. Barac) and all
these persons are professionals (not amateur) who
refused other opportunities
because of the good proposal of Mr. Zdeslav Barac.
We all were working hard, especially
players, even in very bad conditions (traveling very
late at night, very small buses, almost
1 and half month without any uniform and when it
arrived it was only the half of what
federation promised us and our scoutman had to ask
to the men's team to get some t-shirts
because there was no uniform for him, no shoes, etc.
etc.).
Federation promised us 2 computers and
2 radio (we needed it to work) but we had to buy
them with our money (actually it was
the scoutman buying these stuff with his money...and
he didn't even get his money
back from the federation!!!! - this is just
unbelivable!!!).
Players should get paid with a very
small amount of money for each day they work for the
national team but...even if this amount
is a true shame (something around 7 euro per
day!!!) they did not get any of this
money, never.
Now Mr. Barac is complaining with the
Croatian Olympic Commitee saying that he didn't pay
us because the COC didn't pay him, but
this is absolutely not true (and even if it was,
but i dubt it, it doesn't really
matter) because HE TOOK A PERSONAL OBBLIGATION WITH US
SAYING HE WAS PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR SALARY!!!
This is a true scandal and i can't
believe that people like this one can own a Federation,
it's a true shame for the Croatian
Sport and even for the FIVB and CEV. People like him have
to get fired because are personally
responsible for what is happening.
I and my staff gave him time until the
last thursday to fulfil the obbligations he took
and we have been extremely clear: we
did not want him to fulfil the total amount but we
wanted a sign of his honesty: at least
to sign the contracts and a small part of the
amount we had to receive, in the
meantime we kept working with the team like everything
was fine because we are professionals
and the players did not have any fault for this
situation, they are just victims like
us. If nohting would have happened we had to resign
and leave because it was impossible to
work in these conditions.
After all that, WE DID NOT EVEN HEAR
SOMETHING from Mr. Barac, he did not even had the
courage to tell us the truth and he did
not even call. NOTHING HAPPENED!!!
This is the actual
"so-called-president" of the Croatian Volleyball
Federation...
Someone has to do something to fix this
situation...this is a true scandal...
