Great! What do you mean by "old"? '90s? '80s? (anyway, Looking forward to see some of that!)

I think it will be 1980's Olympics vintage although I did see a 1996 NCAA (University level) Men's final match. I will start viewing some of it this weekend. I may go out an buy a device that makes the import onto my PC a little easier. I currently use a two step process and it takes twice as long...

I have Australia vs USA only.
    set 1
    set 2
    set 3

This match has Paul Carroll a current player on the Pepperdine university team and a member of the Austrailian National Team playing against the USA National Team. Sean Rooney, who was a 4 year All American first team player for Pepperdine is on the USA roster, mostly in a serving specialist role. Marv Dunphy, who was traveling with the USA national team during the World Cup is the head coach for Pepperdine.

Great job Nastja. I am sure it was a lot of work. I hope you had some help... I am sure we will discover many things we can do with the new format as we learn how to use it...

Thanks for the quick editing and posting of Set 5! I will check back for the other sets as your time permits.. I was up at 4 AM my time watching the FIVB live scoreboard but unable to watch any video until now.

The best three teams grabed three first places. USA played well, but the their defeat against Peurto Rico had to cost. It was very important for them, much more important than victory over Brasil, as we can see.
By the way, I don't understand how Puerto Rico could have lost to South Korea today... The only explanation is that they played for nothing.

The only scary thing for USA is that we must play Puerto Rico in the continental (NORCECA) qualifier. USA defeated PUR twice this past fall but did not focus during the WC. This cost them qualifying for OG during WC...

Wow, I am away a day and we have a little word battle going on. I enjoy all three of you for your posting and information so I hope you will each change the subject and focus on the next match, not each other.

Perhaps we need the next match results to move on!?

    :D

I hope Russian players aren't too tired tomorrow...

I hope the Russians are really tired for their last match. Maybe the USA will have a chance! :)

    Quote from "Konrad"

I think Bulgaria. Americans don't know how to play against Russians.

I agree especially based on their match results against Russia during the World League Final Six... Maybe USA will figure out a new strategy or Russia will take them lightly... Lucky is Ok too :D

After the bulgarian victorty over russia at friday I will ask you to upload the match. :P ;)

Now that would be a result I would love to see... :wink2:

raymond80, if i wrote "set 2, set 3, set 4" it means that i will upload them soon...

Maybe we should create a Introduction to Inside Volleyball FAQ (maybe there already is one?) to help "newbies" to understand protocol and terminology! It might help members to learn patience... Of course, they have to actually take the time to go through the FAQ. ;)

I'm sorry, the match provided by a friend is not complete
the recording of the set 5 in asf finishes on 11:5

    set 5 asf

Thank you for posting and now I understand why the 5th set was a different format because you wanted to provide the entire 5th set. Good thinking!

    Thanks for sharing, firebrand.
Actually, these files are clear enough to watch the match. However, set 5 is in a different format (rmvb) than sets 1-4 (asf). If possible, could you also post set 5 in asf?

Yes, thank you for this match. I watched almost all of it this weekend but could not view the 5th set. I was in slow motion and out-of-sync. The first four sets were GREAT and I will take what I can get. If you recode the 5th set I will dowload it also to make the match complete.

It seems the only way for the US to have a chance to qualify for OG during the WC is to win out, including an upset against Russia. This would be very difficult. I do not know when the last time the US has defeated Russia in an important match. I saw two exhibition matches several years ago in Texas where the US and Russia split but i do not believe all of the best players where playing for either team.

Oohh. Does this mean that these videos are originally shown in HD? Does anybody have the capability to record and share the HD files? I'd even pay somebody to send me DVDs or something!

(In other news, I can record HD, but there's no volleyball shown here until the olympics next year!)

NEW YORK (Nov. 1, 2007) - NBC Sports will present taped coverage of the U.S. Men's and Women's National Volleyball teams in the 2007 FIVB World Cup for the first time ever on Universal HD.

The FIVB World Cup is a 12-team event with a round-robin playing format of 11 matches in 15 days. Over the next month, UniHD will provide coverage of both round-robin tournaments from eight different cities across Japan. The women’s competition begins Nov. 2 with the U.S. opening against Peru and the match will air on Nov. 12. The men’s competition starts Nov. 18 as the Americans face top-ranked Brazil, which will air on Nov. 28. “Best of” matches are slated on both the men’s and women’s broadcast schedules to show the best U.S. matches of the tournament. A complete schedule can be found at the end of this release.

“NBC’s broadcasts on Universal HD will provide exciting exposures for our national teams,” USA Volleyball Chief Executive Officer Doug Beal said. “We are delighted with NBC for selecting the World Cup to showcase volleyball. Hopefully, it will lead to additional television exposure of our sport.”

The FIVB World Cup is held every four years in the year preceding the Summer Olympics and is the first of three qualifying steps in indoor volleyball for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Universal HD, an NBC Universal Cable network, launched in fourth quarter 2004, is currently available in systems reaching more than 55 million homes in 100% 1080i HD, 24/7. Universal HD is carried on DirecTV (Channel 74), Dish TV (Channel 9427), Echostar, Comcast, TimeWarner, NCTC, Cox, Charter, Cablevision, Mediacom, cable one, Insight, Verizon, ATT/SBC and some independent outlets.

Paul Sunderland will handle the play-by-play for the matches, while Kevin Barnett will carry out the color commentary for the tournament. Sunderland earned a gold medal while playing on the 1984 U.S. Olympic Team, while Barnett is a two-time Olympian who played for Team USA at Sydney in 2000 and Athens in 2004.

During this tournament, the U.S. Women's National Team looks to improve upon its 2003 World Cup bronze-medal finish. Team USA has eight Olympians on the 2007 FIVB World Cup roster including veteran players Tayyiba Haneef-Park (Laguna Hills, Calif.) and Danielle Scott-Arruda (Baton Rouge, La.). The roster was bolstered by the return of Logan Tom (Salt Lake City, Utah) and Stacy Sykora (Burleson, Texas), both two-time Olympians, after nearly three year's absence from the squad. The U.S. Women’s National Team Press Kit offers additional information on the squad.

The U.S. Men's National Team is ranked fifth in the world and has medaled in every tournament it has competed in this year. It is coming off of gold-medal performances at both the NORCECA Men's Continental Championship and the Americas’ Cup. The U.S. Men’s Team has medal in every tournament it has entered this season, including a third-place showing at the FIVB World League. Lloy Ball (Woodburn, Ind.), named most valuable player at the NORCECA Men's Continental Championship, returned to the team after a two-year absence and will look to compete in his fourth Olympics, while the team’s emotional leader Ryan Millar (Palmdale, Calif.) hopes to qualify for his third Olympics.

“Both teams have enjoyed great years and we look forward to their drives for Olympic berths with this important qualifying event,” Beal said.

Thank you Justyna. This is a match I was really hoping would be posted. Although the matches will shown in the US in a two week delay, I do not have HD TV, the HD Channel (extra fee) or an HD DVR. It was going to cost me $600 US at a MINIMUM to upgrade. I really want to wait to purchase a better and larger HD TV than the mimimum I was considering. At least now, I will get to view this match and perhaps a few more.

Keep up the good work! :trophy:
