This format consists of 4 groups with 8 teams each, placed in an elimination bubble. These bubbles are determined by a ranking and draw(!) and if happens that 2 best teams of the competition end up in the same group, they should still have a chance to reach the final and prove their strength. You are not able to say that worlds number 1 will always play the best and especially that here we have Thailand seeded as no. 1 which should not be happening.
Here is a real-life example - Men’s ECH 2009: Poland and France were in the same group but still met in the final having proven themselves in the knockout stages and semifinals.
Right now France and Brazil will have to face each other early, even though both teams could easily fight for the semis.
Please check how these stages looks in other team sports. Only volleyball has this kind of flaws.
