But both 2022 and now, both side had Ita/bra and srb/tur and in 2022 Ita/bra and srb/usa and they would suppose to only meet in semis. Of course in 1/4 you need to play other top teams like Poland, China, Usa, Japan. Top4 teams never been in the same group.
2022 was a total flaw as there were 2-long distance hosts. FIVB went with a path of least reactance and they repeated similar format at this WCH.

This format consists of 4 groups with 8 teams each, placed in an elimination bubble. These bubbles are determined by a ranking and draw(!) and if happens that 2 best teams of the competition end up in the same group, they should still have a chance to reach the final and prove their strength. You are not able to say that worlds number 1 will always play the best and especially that here we have Thailand seeded as no. 1 which should not be happening.
Here is a real-life example - Men’s ECH 2009: Poland and France were in the same group but still met in the final having proven themselves in the knockout stages and semifinals.
Right now France and Brazil will have to face each other early, even though both teams could easily fight for the semis.
Please check how these stages looks in other team sports. Only volleyball has this kind of flaws.

Let’s assume that France and Brazil are the best teams of the championships - after their group stage match, they should seeded in a way that would allow them to meet in the final, not in quarterfinal. This system helps to eliminate good teams in an early stage.

I remember it was a revenge of the 2023 World Champ. final loss to Germany, and Serbia won bronze in Paris. In the 2021-2023 period, Serbia had a bit of an complex of Italy in basketball and that's when they lost to them at the 2022 Eurobasket. The same thing happened with water polo: Serbia played poorly for 3 years, and yet won another gold medal at the Olympics. And yet, you have better team sports than Italy, despite a smaller population. We only have women's volleyball left and that's it. In the men's competition we recently constantly lose to France and Poland. In water polo we are soo weak and in basketball, the last medal was in 2004. A disaster.
Actually all ex Yougolsavia nations are good in many team sports. That’s kind of phenomen for me.
