Perfect illustration of a core problem in such forums these days. It's not only the so-called "trolls", there are also the ever-growing ranks of users who think they have to talk "tough" to be considered "entertaining" or "badass". Some posts towards Matthias in these thread are really cringeworthy. Good that there are also the voices that show more appreciation for his many years of service.

I don't understand why people think one single star player can elevate an inexperienced team that much to beat even really good, well-organized "top-20" teams. I also don't believe that there aren't any capable coaches in Sweden. Haak had instant success when she moved from Sweden to France. So i guess her prior coaches at home also deserve some credit in her early development.

IMO, the weakness of the french NT is setter (in comparison with other positions). No problem at OPP, Gicquel looks impressive to me (might be among the best upcoming young europeans at that position.)

VC Kanti Schaffhausen (SUI) extended the contract with their MB (and team captain) Katerina Holaskova (CZE) for two more seasons.
Dutch setter Anna Mebus stays with swiss club TS Volley Düdingen for another season according to dutch site "volleybalkrant". She had mostly the role of the 2nd setter this season behind swiss NT setter Méline Pierret (who also stays with the club for next season). Another foreign player who seems to stay in Düdingen is American MB Samantha Cash (announced per her instagram) who played very good and scored a lot of points for them.

Usually you can find earlier seasons with trying out lower numbers at the end of the URL, in this case "25" instead of "31".

Well, their swiss setter is 20 years old, and their dutch setter only 19. They also haven't participated in the European cups for a few years (due to weaker results in the swiss league) but now experience kind of a "revival" with coach Neubauer (who also works in the German NT staff). Maybe more experienced "off the court" as a club in terms of managing/organizing an european cup event, yes.
I've read that the Montreux Volley Masters is scheduled in mid-May this year. It was an article on the swiss federation site which mentioned that the Swiss NT will play two tournaments before the ECH: Montreux and the Universiade.
