I'm also not too fond of Karch's time-out speeches. Sure, there are times when a coach needs to calm down and encourage the team, but not in EVERY time-out. It's the time to tell the players what they can do better, give information about certain tactics of the opponent etc. Coaches can have only limited influence during the match because it is hard to reach the players, but only telling them to take a breath all the time won't help either...

Exactly. He reminded me of Terzic in the beginning of Serbian team back in the day, when he'd repeat "Relax, calm down, let's play our game, we'll come back" over and over again like a parrot while the entire team is collapsing. Yeah, really useful.

Brazil won this on sheer experience, but they're hardly spectacular. It will be fun to watch how this American team develops in future, they certainly have a lot of potential.

Yes, Maja sets unusually few balls to the MBs at the moment, it's all to Mihajlovic and Brakocevic. I'm sure this will change as soon as they play against opponents that don't allow those two to score however they want.

I guess it's a part of tactics. Terzic probably trusts Maja's connection with Rasic and Krsmanovic enough and wants to integrate Mihajlovic since this is basically her first full year on the team, so she's getting as many sets as possible.
As you say, they'll probably play a more varied game when they meet stronger opponents.

Dammit, I missed Serbia's match again  I rate the Czech team really highly and I was worried about today's match, so it's good to see it was a clear win.
Brakocevic and Mihajlovic seem to be in superb form, but I'm not sure what to think about this new "low scoring trend" for the MBs... Are they not getting enough balls or what? At least Rasic seems to be in good blocking form :box:

Wow, Rabita's management are not holding back, are they?! Honestly, it's quite unprofessional to publicly thrash a player like that, even if their statements are substantiated, and it does not make them look any better. Rather the opposite.

Must be Rote Raben Vilsbiburg, all other teams have their 1st setters (assuming that Radenkovic to Schwerin is happening).

It is. But from what I understand, she's on a loan there and hopes to return to Piacenza as a starter after this season.

I understand. Brakocevic, Bjelica and Mihajlovic did excellent in the friendlies against Bulgaria so they definitely can contribute more than Sanja at the moment, and we need a receiving OH on the team as well, so it makes sense that she would be out for now... But she's barely played for almost two years now and she really needs to get back into game, the longer it takes, the more difficult it will be for her.

Sanja Malagurski is the player who won't travel to Santo Domingo.
I think it's a bad sign, I'm starting to get worried about her future. :(

    :what:

Interesting...Nikolic is one of the players who has worked the longest with Terzic without having conflicts with him (at least as far as I can remember), so I wonder what "duties" she didn't fulfill...

Exactly. She's always been known as his "pet", so this is very surprising.

In other news, Terzic is very satisfied with how the preparations went and players' form. Much to surprise of Ognjenovic, who commented than she's not used to hearing words of praise from the coach. :D

One OH will be cut from the team for the first weekend of Grand Prix.
I don't know if it's related to that, but Jelena Nikolic is no longer the captain of the Serbian NT, as according to Terzic, she didn't fulfill some of the duties of the captain. So, perhaps it will be her.
Be it as it may, Maja Ognjenovic is the captain now.

There are rumours about Vesna Citakovic-Djurisic returning to Serbia to play in Vizura. The cluvb has now fused with Partizan, one of the two biggest sport societies in the country alongside Crvena Zvezda.

It's been a horrible year for Russian women's sport with the handball team not even qualifying for WCh, basketball team failing to get out of preliminary round at ECh, no Russian players in R4 at Wimbledon, bad results in biathlon... I wonder if the volleyball team can save their honour.

Two players are dropped from the team.
Ivana Djerisilo didn't manage to recover in time, while Danica Radenkovic has a back injury.

So, now we're down to Ognjenovic and Zivkovic as setters, hopefully both will be healthy this summer, otherwise it could get messy.

To be "much better" than Brakocevic a player would have to be on the same level as Gamova or even surpass her. I think it's clear than Polen is not that kind of player.

It's a bit weird how underappreciated Brakocevic is considering the excellent season she's had.
