Yeah...I though really weird to see Anja out...specially cause I thought they have already solved their problems...

and also cause Krsmanovic is back!!!I mean...if he had problems with them both...why he just called one of them??

I'm not sure, but if you read between the lines of some Terzic's statements, to put it like that, it seems to me that Natasa apologized for not going to World Cup, but Anja never did. That may also be a problem.

Anyway, it's likely that Djerisilo will play as OH now. I'm really curious to see how it will work out. :)

Anja Spasojevic will not play in Tokyo at the Olympic Qualifications. According to Terzic, the two of them can't communicate very well and it's "too soon for Anja to come back". Anja says she hasn't spoken to Terzic for a long time and doesn't know what the problem is.

All I can say is  It's SO annoying they don't want to openly say what's going on. That just opens up space for rumours about the situation. For example, people now say that Nikolic doesn't like Anja and doesn't want her to be on the team. Others say that the whole team is against Anja because she was acting like a drama queen before and during the EC. I don't believe those things are true, but I really wish they just solve whatever problem they have.

Well, I'm kind of hoping it's a mistake of some kind, but really that's just wishful thinking. And it's obvious there are some big problems between Terzic and Spasojevic, I just don't understand how she went from being a permanent fixture and basically a symbol of Serbian NT to not being selected at all.

Jeez, that's weird. There hasn't been anything in the Serbian media so far so I sure hope it's not official yet. I heard that Marija Pavlovic is going to play for Serbia so maybe it's not too surprising she's there, but... Sanja Tomasevic??? What has she done to warrant a selection? I'm not going to comment on Spasojevic not being there... Again, I hope this isn't official.

Is Brazil going to count on Venturini until she's 65? :what: It's hard to believe that the whole country can't produce a quality setter to replace her and Fofao, but on the other hand maybe it's understandable that the other girls can't quite show all their worth if they're constantly haunted by the spirit of the never-ending Venturini.

Zoppas Industries Conegliano finishes the season on top of A2 and wins the promotion into the elite. I'm very happy for Jovana Brakocevic, who is the best scorer of the league. :) Still, I hope she goes to a bigger club next season.

Is she staying in Tenerife the next year also, or only until the end of this season? Anja needs some stability now, I don't think the season in Volero was really all that good for her.

It would take a miracle for Scavolini not to win this. Unfortunately the arena this tournament is played at is not that close to my place so I couldn't go and watch the matches live, but I saw Crvena Zvezda vs Rocheville on TV. It was an OK game, had some nice points but both of these teams are far away from Scavolini's level. Zvezda had enormous problems with reception (I'm starting to think it's some kind of Serbian curse, or the coaches just don't do their job  ) and made many service errors, it cost them in the end but they've done great to even make it this far considering basically all of them are teenagers.

I'm SURE there will be a massive change of nationality, from the part of the players.

I believe so too. Many will opt for dual citizenship, and if that's not allowed under the laws of the country they're playing in, they'll just drop the original nationality altogether. And who can blame them?

I also tend to believe that clubs like Volero or Cannes will rather dissolve than invest in development of domestic players, because it just doesn't bring money, at least not in the short run.

I understand why it might be upsetting to you, but I think this issue lies in the "grey area", somewhere between the freedom of speech and illegal political agitation, so I'd understand whatever decision the moderators make. There were also posters with avatars that represent "Greater Bulgaria" with the addition of Macedonia and some Greek and Serbian territories, but it didn't bother me. After all, what somebody posts on a board like this really cannot threaten anyone.

BTW, I love Ukraine, especially the language. ;)

I agree with pol. I'd really like to see a line-up with Brakocevic as OP and Spasojevic and Djerisilo as OHs.

According to Terzic, this list isn't final, and another players might be called in, including those who haven't played for Serbia so far. It could be interesting...

I prefer a weaker league if their consequence is a stronger NT.

The problem is that those two are not necessarily related.
Let's put it this way: the Spanish players are not good enough, thus don't play. But if they don't play, they will never become good. It's a vicious circle.
The solution is to start from the basics: get the girls to start playing volleyball, bring good coaches to work with juniors, organize youth level competitions and so on.

What a horrible season for Asystel. I can't see any of their matches, so I have to wonder what's wrong with them. Is Valeskinha really as useless as the stats seem to indicate?

Perhaps it'd be good to have a thread about this team, too, since they have a few fans here. ;)

Today Terzic announced the roster for the Olympic Qualifying tournament in May. There are 24 players there, and I don't feel like typing it up :P so you can find it here.
A few surprises, like always: Anja Spasojevic is back! Hopefully this means she'll actually make it to Japan and not be left out in the last moment.
However, Natasa Krsmanovic is not on the list. The only explanation I can think of is that there are some problems between her and Terzic.
Except for Vesna Citakovic, all the other blockers are from Serbian league and they are about 19-20 years old and very inexperienced.
A bit weird to see Brizitka Molnar's name on the list, she had (or at least was supposed to have) a surgery on her shoulder that would take her out for a few months.

Pretty much expected, but a bit disappointing nevertheless. I believe Serbia will qualify for the OG, but it's clear now that even in that case we're not going to send the best possible team.
