Poland had clear 3-0 victory over Cubans who played very bad.

A look into future, perhaps? :P

Not an encouraging result for Serbia today, Thailand got demolished against Italy and now they took a set. :? If there's anything positive about it it's that our 17 year-old MB Stefana Veljkovic played and scored 9 points. That's nice for her.
But really, WC is not a place for young talents to get experience, our best team should be here, but there's nothing that can be done about it now.

For example Serbians, Croatians and Bulgarians play abroad, because in their own country they are not payed enough. Guidetti explained that it is the same in Germany, that a lot of players aren't payed enough.

This will have two very bad consequences = a lot of young players will leave volleyball and some of them will switch nationality for money.

Agreed. I know for sure that's the case in Serbia: most players only play volleyball because they hope to go abroad one day and play in leagues that have more money. If they're denied this possibility, for many of them the incentive to play professional volleyball will be gone.
It will also affect the development of young and talented players. For example, Djerisilo and Spasojevic became such good players because they went to Italy when they were 21. A few more years in the weak Serbian league and they would have stagnated. Signing experienced foreign players will be a priority for many clubs now, and the younger ones will be left behind, which is exactly the opposite of what this new rule is trying to promote.

Ivana Djerisilo won't play :( , but that was expected. However, the surprise is that Anja Spasojevic and Natasa Krsmanovic will miss the WC as well. They say that they are not in good enough shape and don't feel they can help the team.

    Serbian roster:

    S:
    Maja Ognjenovic
    Maja Simanic

    Out. H:
    Jelena Nikolic
    Brizitka Molnar
    Jovana Vesovic
    Jasna Majstorovic

    Opp. H:
    Jovana Brakocevic
    Ivana Nesovic

    MB:
    Vesna Citakovic
    Ivana Isailovic
    Stefana Veljkovic

    L:
    Suzana Cebic

Again no Sladjana Eric. Many young and inexperienced players. Let's see how they'll do, but I'm not too optimistic.

Ivana Djerisilo is back. :) She is training with the rest of the team but it's not certain that she'll go to Japan as she's not at 100% yet.

on serbias side im impressed by citakovic, great player and leader for the team right now

When I saw her facial expression in the first set, I knew Serbia is not going to lose this one. One word about her: captain. 8)

I am really sorry for Poland, they have a great team and honestly I thought before the match that they would take the title. I wish Poland and Serbia had met in the finals.

Joana, maybe you will be more happy, if Poland vs Italy is the match for the bronze! :wink2: hehe

oprosti moju glupost, samo da neznam sto pisati, previse sam nervozan!!! :wink2:

Hehe, it's OK. Everybody can support whoever they want as far as I'm concerned!

I'd be more than happy with a bronze medal, to be honest. But it's not really that important, they should focus on the Olympic qualifying tournament now.

how is gonna be in the semis?

    1Ex2F and 2Ex1F?

There's going to be a draw with the first ranked teams against the second ranked ones, so it can be either POL vs RUS and ITA vs SRB, or POL vs SRB and ITA vs RUS. I think it's stupid, it should have been 1E vs 2F and vice versa, like always.

Harsh words from the Bulgarian coach about his setter Lybka Debarlieva after the match: "Today she showed how volleyball is not supposed to be played."

She wasn't present at the press conference either, as she should have been as the team captain.
It's true that she wasn't at her best in this match but I don't think it really was necessary to embarrass her in public like that.
    :?

So, at the end Rai won't broadcast the SerieA! The pay tv Sky will transmit it! But the Champions League will be broadcasted by SportItalia, a channel that you probably find on the satellite.

That's horrible. :cry2: Now my only connection with the world class volleyball (apart from major NT championships) is gone...

    Serbia def. Bulgaria 3-1 (20-25 25-16 25-19 30-28 )

Bulgaria had a couple of set points in the 4th set, luckily they didn't take them, because another 5-setter would have been just too much for me.
Serbian players were very unhappy with some of the decisions by the referee in that 4th set, they even lost a point because of a yellow card (for the second time at these Championships  ), they were leading 19-16 but let it slip and eventually had to save set points, but it all ended well.

Ivana Isailovic got a chance to play instead of Natasa Krsmanovic and she used it pretty well.

And Glinka... Somebody told that she is not in good shape. I'd like every volleyball player be in such a "bad" shape.

That was me. Yeah, so much for her bad shape, unfortunately she had to prove it in this match.

Serbia has to forget this disaster as soon as possible, it's still all to play for, they can still reach the semis. But, they have a lot of catching up to do, Bulgaria is no slouch.

Hehe, Serbian and Russian share a lot of "false friends".
Some of these words are not exactly pronounced the same way, but have the same spelling (in Cyrillic alphabet, of course).

    My "favourite" examples are:

    ponos
    Serbian: pride
    Russian: diarrhea
    proliv
    Serbian: diarrhea
    Russian: strait, channel
    ponosni
    Serbian: proud
    Russian: rude
    jagodica
    Serbian: small (wild) strawberry
    Russian: ass

And there have some other ones, like:

    vrag
    Serbian: devil
    Russian: enemy
    život
    Serbian: life
    Russian: stomach
    cvet
    Serbian: flower
Russian: colour (but can also mean flower)
    jad
    Serbian: misery
    Russian: poison
    vredeti(Serbian)/vredit'(Russian)
    Serbian: to be worth something
    Russian: to harm
    vredni
    Serbian: hard-working
    Russian: harmful, dangerous

    And there's many more!

And what a heartbreaking loss for Bulgaria in the end! They were leading 13-9 in the 5th set and never won another point. They just couldn't put away a ball in attack at the end.

Poland is really lucky to get through, they didn't play too well. Glinka doesn't appear to be in good shape...
