    3. Marina Akulova

    4. Marina Marchenko

    1. Dora Horvath
    2. Ana Ferreira
    3. Ekaterina Zakrevskaya
    4. Destiny Hooker
    5. Daria Isaeva

OK, some further news: we probably won't know the roster before May 20, but according to Terzic, there won't be many changes compared to the previous seasons. Trainings begin on June 12.
Nikolic and Djerisilo are both still in consideration. Jelena is training again while Ivana is still recovering from injury. If they get fit, they will be on the team.

I definitely expect to see Helic, Kecman, Savic, Stevanovic. Maybe Olga Raonic or Cveticanin from Spartak. Or even Dajana Boskovic from Vizura.
As for the rest, I have no idea. It could literally be almost anyone.

I don't think Mammadova is counted as a "foreigner" since she played together with Inessa Korkmaz, and she definitely represented Russia before.
It must mean Mammadova never played on Ukrainian senior NT.

I remember reading how Ukrainian team registered "Natalia Skazka" to play in some competition, and she didn't show up. Then some time later, they played against Azerbaijan, and they read there was a "Natalia Mammadova" on the team, but they didn't know who she was. And when they saw her, they realized it was actually Natalia Skazka!

After losing Montenegro, can Serbia still be considered a Mediterranean country? :)

No, but we also played in the last edition, and that was after Montenegro had become independent. I guess Serbia still has a place there because it's legal successor of Yugoslavia/Serbia and Montenegro.

Yeah, but it is a quastion whether that players want to play in this kind of competition

That's true. Although, perhaps some would, there's no harm checking out with them if they're interested
I do think it would be a good idea to include players who didn't play a lot in their teams this year, like Klisura and Malagurski. It would be awful for Sanja to spend the entire summer sitting on the bench with the NT, if she's still not completely ready to compete with the big girls. She never will be unless she has a chance to play herself into form.
Maybe Radenkovic even, if both Ognjenovic and Antonijevic decide to play on NT this year.

What about Mediterranean Games squad ? :sos:

I'm not sure Serbia is going to participate. :S I haven't heard anything. I know the handball team will compete.

Yeah, Savic and Stevanovic crossed my mind too and I'm pretty sure they will be on that team.

I'm not too thrilled with the concept of having mostly players from the Serbian league be on B team, so far it hasn't proved to be that useful. I'd rather give a chance to players from abroad who haven't been given much (if any) time on NT. Like Klisura, Petrovic, Nesovic, Bursac. Even Malagurski, if she's still not ready for the highest level, because she desperately needs some play time.

But I guess it's not going to happen.

I don't think we'll have much use of this competition, to be honest. It would make sense to have youngsters like Busa and the gang play it, but they will play the Junior WCh instead. I don't see anyone else from the Serbian league who could make an impact and challenge for a spot on A team. But at least some players will be able to say that they've played on the NT. :D

Finally some news, albeit not much. This year Serbia will play European league with a B team consisting mostly of players from the domestic league. That team will not be led by Terzic, and unlike most previous years, players from A team will not be added at any point.

Thanks. but...unless I'm missing something, it only says that only one naturalized player that played for another NT of the same age group is allowed in NT, but I don't see anything about a limit for naturalized players who did not play for another Senior NT. So as Perepelkina and Valeria Goncharova both didn't play for the Senior NT of their native country, there is no reason why they couldn't be in Russian Senior NT at the same time ?(

Exactly. I've never heard of this rule either. The "only one foreign player" rule has been long established, that's why Aguero and Costagrande couldn't both play for Italy, for example.
I think this is some sort of misunderstanding. It's clearly stated in the article that Perepelkina decided to pull out of NT in order to spend more time with her family, so perhaps the journalist drew some wrong conclusions when he saw Gonchareva's name on the list.

Much harder than expected, at one point Zvezda was losing 1-2 in the final series and had to play away, but they managed to pull through.

Not a brilliant season by any means. They are the champions mostly because the competition was quite weak, but if the young team of Vizura stays together they can overtake them in the future.
It's time for Bjelica to move on. Nikolina Lukic had a very disappointing season, I expected much better things for her. Ljubica Kecman had some decent perforrmances.

As for Spartak, the 18 year old MB Jelena Trnic looks like a good potential.

But, is she playing like 2 years ago? Why she wasn't in the first line in Villa Cortese?

She missed the entire last season due to injuries, wasn't still physically ready in the beginning of this season, her place in the line-up was already taken, so she gets little play time and thus can't become match-fit.
It's all a vicious circle and that's why it's so hard to come back after serious injuries.

Wasn't that tournament held in Ankara/Turkey? Had Serbia lost to Brasil in the final. true?
that serbian team had beat Turkey which had had Seda,Neriman,Güldeniz etc...Nesoviç and Vesoviç had played very well against Turkey.i had hated them bcz of that :D

I'm not sure what tournament you mean. :D Vesovic played on senior WCh in 2006. But yes, she played also on junior WCh in 2005 in Turkey when Serbia won silver. Vesovic was voted MVP of that tournament.
I remember that MB Marija Mratinkovic was a part of that team, and she was hugely hyped as a future superstar, but her career flopped big time.

Brakocevic has always played as OPP, that I know of at least.

Is there any Serbian player, in contrast, did not shine in youth/junior level and then turn into a star? I don't remember anything special about Brakoçeviç for example ?(

Milena Rasic. She caught everyone by surprise when she became one of the best players of the Serbian league in the season 2008/2009. Soon she made it on NT and hasn't looked back.
Jovana Brakocevic didn't play much in juniors because she got selected for senior NT very early on. She too was on the team that won the WCh bronze, at the age of 18. And the following year in Djerisilo's absence she was in the starting line-up at the ECh, where she got the award as the best server of the tournament.

That was also the case with the previous generation of Ognjenovic, Spasojevic, Nikolic, Djerisilo etc. None of them did much on juniors because they were basically a part of the senior NT right from the start.

Vesovic was even on the team that won the WCH '06 bronze! Of course, she didn't get to play that much back then, but still.

She was considered a big potential and did great in junior competitions, but never managed to really break through.

Blagojevic is not impressive from a physical standpoint but perhaps can play the same role that Molnar has in the past.

That's what I hope for. She can hopefully be the all-around player that takes care of reception and defensive duties while performing at least solidly in attacking. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing I'd wish more then to see Molnar return to her old form, but I'm afraid her career is in downward spiral and has passed the point of no return.
Vesovic has played on NT for a long time and by now it's clear that her contribution can only be limited and I don't think she'll be getting any better. In any case, I don't think there's enough room for BOTH of them on NT.

As for Antonijevic, she says she hasn't played full time in French league this season (perhaps someone who's followed the league more closely this season can shed some light on it), is in constant pain and is unhappy with her form and game. Whether is just a prepared excuse to skip the NT duties this summer remains to be seen.
