    Sorry, I meant to get back to you sooner but forgot.


    Look, the honest truth is I think there is homophobia behind the comment as well but equally this comment could have been made about anyone who curses, drinks alcohol and eats pork, even if they were heterosexual - there is room for different interpretations here. As users, we can all have our opinions on what another user means when he says something but as a mod, I need stronger proof than that to take strict action, regardless of my personal opinion.


    However, whether homophobic or not, I don’t like it when religion is used to shame other people and would request that Mapuan stop doing that immediately or there could be stricter action taken.


    That is my final decision on this matter. I’m sure you won’t agree and that’s fine but I hope that by explaining my reasoning you will at least understand where I’m coming from.

    Well deserved win for Türkiye, they were the best team today and in the tournament.


    I guess Guidetti was excited about getting that record breaking 5th silver medal. Maja is my favourite player ever but anybody could see that Drca should have started the 4th set. If she struggles then you can always bring Maja back in but you’ve got to go with what’s working and it was very obviously Drca in that moment.

    All respect to Jovana who was one of the world’s best at the time but there’s a big difference between dropping her and dropping Egonu who is arguably the best OPP in history. Antropova doesn’t deserve any hate, she is a talented player who did her best and she will have a great future. But Egonu is Egonu.

    Great result for the Dutch girls. Koslowski has been a good coach for a long time now and I think he definitely deserves credit here but in the end it’s the players that have to go on the court and win the points. Baijens and Jasper played better than I ever expected and once Van Aalen gets a little more experience (so important for a setter especially) she will be very special indeed.

    No, I suggest you reread my post. I never said that you or anyone else didn’t understand what he meant. I actually said that I couldn’t be sure and I can’t take action against a user until I am sure. I have not lived in a Muslim-majority country and I accept that you have a better understanding of it than me. My understanding of the term is that it can be used to refer to a number of behaviours that are considered to be unacceptable by some, not specifically homosexuality. Is this incorrect?

    My understanding of “haram” is that it’s a sinful act of some kind, clearly it doesn’t refer specifically to homosexuality. He could be referring to other aspects of her behaviour that have been criticised by many people on here. Your interpretation that the comment was homophobic could be right too but I am a mod, not a mind-reader and it would be inappropriate for me to ban users based on the most damning interpretation of their comments.

    Perhaps we mods should indeed have taken action earlier. Sometimes we probably make the wrong call. Generally, we like people to be able to express their views and hope people can move on from any disagreements, but in this case we may have been wrong. We’re not perfect.


    As far as racist mods go who want to ban Turks I have no clue what you’re talking about. Which Turkish users do you feel were unfairly banned?

    Guys, wtf are you even doing? Do people here actually like the constant aggression and insults? Because every time you open the forum and continue this feud you are continuing this boring cycle. Nobody is going to win this argument - you are not going to convince anybody that you’re right. The only things that come out of this are hurt feelings on each side and complete boredom for everyone else that posts here.
