Fener's middles poor performances cost them the match. I think they have been playing bad for a while, but Arina, Ana and Vargas has been enough to win matches with a quite comfortable difference, but not today.
Congrats, Vakif. Great performance from the whole team. I think they are gonna regret deeply of letting Egonu go, she's just getting back to her old form and adjusting to the team. Sadly they didn't have patience with her and now will have to have with Thompson.
I know the game isn't over and they can turn this around either today or next match on Istanbul, but betting on Eczacibasi on a decisive game must be one of the most stupid decisions someone can make (the result of this match up won't change my opinion).

Yes, she was definitely one of the best, maybe even the best at some point of her career.
I think in 2013 no other opposite played better than her. Maybe Goncharova was on the same level, but Brakocevic and that VakifBank team back them were just scary.
With Arina and Voronkova playing on this level and Goncharova also with great perfomances in Russian League, it's such a shame they can't represent Russia on NT tournaments

. Brazil, you did great, but this team really needs to learn how to play a final match. 0-3 in the Olympic final, 0-3 in the VNL final and now another sweep. You can lose, of course, but playing far from your best everytime is weird.
I hope Zé keeps Roberta for the 3rd set. I still think there's more room for improvement on Brazil's side. Serbia is making many mistakes because they play this way, forcing their serves, and this contributes a lot to their blocking party so far.

Gabi and Carol, you are phenomenal! Zé Roberto, I don't have words for you. But someone I feel I really should praise right now is Carol Gattaz. Going for her 3rd WCH final, for the 1st time as a starter at 41 years old and playing GREAT and always clutch. On the VNL final against Italy, I think it was pretty clear the importance Gattaz has to this team, since the rotations with Julia K. on the net were the ones Brazil suffered a bit. Gattaz might not be a great blocker (even though her block on Lubian today when it was 24x24 was something out of this world), but her greatness in the slide attack can't be underestimated, especially in a team that doesn't have a well defined opposite starter and played many games with Tainara, who was clearly didn't have the best connection with Macris to do some balls from the back row. Proud of you, Gattaz. Proud of the whole team of Brazil!

I think if the quarterfinals were just like in the Olympics, with the 2 groups crossing, Japan would've had advanced to the SFs and we would be watching a better match than this one.
