After watching some of the matches, I find the defense at position 1 and 2 is not good. The only good floor defender Carlini is not the Olympic roaster. I think Kiraly chose Hancock was because of her serve. However, I doubt that her serve would make a big difference. For instance, it didn't work at all when against China. Moreover, Poulter's performance at VNL was very inconsistence as well. Thinking about their style, Hancock is not a good sub for her. I still think Carlini would be a better option.
Even before the China match, I already thought Hancock's serving wouldn't work against strong teams, because her serving didn't work with Conegliano either.
In 2018, Karch basically used a fixed 14-player roster throughout the whole VNL. He didn't give any opportunity to younger players like Carlini, Ogbogu, Washington. He won VNL, and we all know what happened later that year.
Murphy+Lloyd.
Plus that's when the Krob at libero started (i think) and then was abandoned. So 0 experience for Courtney or JWO.
Terrible all around.
More than just that. Bringing Gibby and no Ogbogu, despite her spectacular performance at the Brazil trip, Pan Am Cup.
Bringing Lowe and no Drews. I think the 2018 Drews is already better than Lowe.
What's going on with Lilley? At beginning I thought Postdam is a great fit for her, but it seems that her pro club is still undecided. I hope she can find a top level German/French club or a mid-lower level Italian club.
Top half:
S: Hancock
OH: MKR, SWP
MB: Tapp
L: Courtney
Bottom half:
S: Carlini
OH: Larson, Plummer
MB: Adams
L: JWO
Don't like this
I don't like this either. She could go to a top German team or mid-Italian team.
Madison Lilley unfollowed Dresden and followed Nantes
Is she still following Potsdam?
should I make a new thread some time for the fall season or just repurpose this one
Following the practices of this forum, I'd say, new season new thread!
Stumler looks taller than 6'1 to me. Lilley has really improved a lot. Some of her skills don't like from a college setter.
How tall is Stumbler? She's been so good.
Poulter should be the second best setter after Wolosz. For Hancock, I am not very impressed. I mean - she's good and she gets her job done (most of the time), but she's not like Poulter who really elevated her team.
so next year we have savino x vitra in cev cup 😑
No, it's Busto, which is 4th place in regular season. Savino will be in challenge cup
I agree with an earlier argument - US outsides are generally good passers, so as long as JWO doesn't crush, there's value in bringing her as she's better at floor defense than Courtney. I can't stand Courtney not able to save so many tips.
good. Wilhite to Imoco would be messy and a poor move.
I like this rumor. Wilhite will spend most of her time on the bench if she goes to Conegliano because they already have Sylla. And she and Sylla cannot start together due to the liability on reception. She's more likely to secure a starting spot in Fenerbahce.
Is that Dana Rettke music I hear?
OMG I would LOVE this!
Who won the match?
With Egnou 42 points in four sets, it's really impossible for any opponent team of Imoco to play spectacularly lol. Busto wasn't even bad today but still can't give Imoco more than 1 set of challenge. Vakif may pull up a good fight against Imoco, but for any other Italian teams, they need to be more than 100% just like Scandicci the other day.
Is it? Because savino and busto have tied win-losses and points but savino has more winning sets that busto.
No, it's the other way around, Busto has a higher set ratio than Scandicci.
THe fact that a setter is doing well in Serie A doesn't mean she will do well in Eczacıbasi (Lloyd was amazing in Italy and look how she played in Turkey)
The last time Lloyd was playing well in Serie A1 was 2016; The year she went to Vitra was 2019, she was already past her prime. Poulter is still getting better, she's not even 24 yet. I don't think Lloyd's failure in Eczacibasi is applicable to Poulter's situation.
But, I want to see Poulter staying with Busto. Going to a top Turkish league means she won't be able to play full-time, which is very important for a young player's development.
