about BRA: in the past, they tried out some other OH/OP, whatever happened to pri daroit, joycinha, suelle, ivna?

i guess ze doesn't like joycinha... maybe the others are not playing well. i remember them from 2015, when the team got split for the GP and the pan am games...

Joycinha is 34 already and in the past two seasons she was not as good as she used to be. Her game style is also very different from Brazilian style (she can only attack high balls in position 2). Suelle was terrible this season playing under Ze's supervision in Barueri. Ivna benched all season in Pinheiros. Pri Daroit had a regular Superliga, she was invited to Pan Am Cup but she rejected the invitation. She's almost 30 and maybe NT is not in her plans anymore.

After evaluating players' performance in Pan Am Cup, Ze Roberto has just announced four more players that will join the NT. He has invited Dani Lins (S), Thaisa (MB), Suelen (L) and Fernanda Tomé (OH/OPP). So, there are 15 invited players right now:

    OPP: Tandara

    S: Dani Lins and Roberta

OH: Amanda, Drussyla, Rosamaria, Natália, Gabi and Fe Tomé

MB: Adenízia, Bia, Carol and Thaisa

    L: Gabiru and Suelen

It seems that we won't see Mara and Monique this year anymore (finally), only in case of injuries. I guess Rosamaria and Fernanda Tomé will be fighting for the last spot. Ze is probably going to use them as OPP.

Heh. It will be good to see her back, but on the other hand, the only reason she's coming back is that the other setters sucked. And we can't keep counting on her to bail us out forever and instead need to find a long term solution ASAP.

This is a very good point. If Serbia don't invest on setters they have, they will have very good short-term results, while for the next olympic cycle, they'll have only an unprepared and unexperienced setter whom is Mirkovic (and maybe other prospects). My point is, how able will she be to asume the position when Ognjenovic decides to retire?

According to this website Maja is back.....

    http://odbojka-volleyball.com/…ovratak-u-reprezentaciju/

I wish Ognjenovic would be more honest with fans of Serbia's volleyball. She's been contantly retiring since 2012. I'd think I would enjoy more if she declares that she's not interested in small tournaments like VNL, which is completely understandable because of the length of time she's spent on the national team after all those years. Anyway, great to see her back!

Ouach! That's harsh. I agree her reception is sometime shaky and her back row defense is weak. But I wouldn't say she's not a NT material.

You've just assumed her reception is shaky and her defense is bad also. Her attack is not good either. What is she good at then? :gone:

I do like Amanda, I am happy for her growth in the past two seasons playing is our Superliga, but she should not be starter in Brazil NT. It's quite different level that I am pretty sure she does not belong (at least yet).

tbh, the 4th match (bronze medal) was ok. Probably they could do little bit more in this match. But they are human after all and China is also a very strong team.

I think people are overestimating Brazil to be honest... Turkey did play a great match because they've done their homework by understanding how our NT plays. Our tatics is based on a good serve, block and defense. Turkey, thus, were really solid when receiving Brazil's serve. Akoz and Meliha covered Hande in many occasions. Ozbay played with really good reception and had set her middles a lot (which was a smart move given the fact that both Eda and Zehra were consistent during the competition). Brazil was unable to block because Turkey played a game full of quick sets.

Turkey also did their homework by serving on both Suelen and Amanda. Suelen is a great at defense but her reception is really shaky sometimes, she needs more consistancy for sure. In Amanda's case I really don't want to comment about it because she has proven that she's not NT material.

Besides that, Turkey did a really good block-defense job to put some pressure on Tandara. In many VNL games, Tandara was attacking from position 6 with single blocks in front of her (the same happened against China), so she was able to score like 30+ points. Turkey did a centered block strategy when Tandara was in the backrow, which is pretty reasonable because, most of times, it was Amanda attacking in position 4. We can also add that Akoz was really well positioned at defense in position 5.

In sum, Turkey played well, although I think that they've just done smt that other teams should've done against Brazil during the whole competition.

I want to believe that you're just guessing, because otherwise you would be sharing fake news. There is no confirmation that Mara, Macris, Rosamaria and Monique will be cut from the final list of a competition that's only happening in 3 months.

What Ze said is that players competing in PanAm Cup are under observation and they can make it to the main NT. Although I do think that only Dani Lins and Thaisa has real chances to make it (and now I am the one who's guessing). :win:

ze will really look into the pan american cup players to test with players

    Edinara
    Bruna
    Dani
    Thaisa

Its confirmed that mara, macris, rosamaria and monique will be cut in the world championship

I can understand this questioning, honestly I dont really like coaches training club and Nt in same gender...I do think it makes an impact on how players approach the club. Even if its not intended, and even if the coach in question does not use that "advantage" in any form, it kind of makes a pressure on players. Its hard to refuse a proposal from NT coach, cause if its not Felix, Im pretty sure managers will raise that doubt so it makes harder to refuse it. The same happen in Brazil and in Turkey....I think its something it can be avoided

Totally agree. I would not complain if they were coaches in other countries, because the foreign rules could avoid an accumulation of high level players from the same nationality in the same club.

Rosamaria should be the 4th OH or 2nd Opp. Monique's performance against the best teams was disappointing. She's just a good server and Brazil already have Amanda for it when you need a serving substitution. Ze should frankly cultivate Rosamaria'a confidence back. He's not giving her the playing the playing time and it's just keeping her out of sync with her teammates.

Macris is also disappointing. Her performance is giving Dani Lins a path to the WCH without even stepping in the court yet.

I wish Ze gave Naiane the opportunity. He just gave up on her after she went to another team. That sounds like politics to me.

Monique is useless and I've been saying this since 2013. She's good for Superliga, mainly because in teams she plays she's never the main attack reference (for example, in Rio it's always been Gabi's, Natalia's, Drussyla's, Buijs' responsabilities to attack). I also think that Rosamaria as OPP could be a greater option, although she has not done anything good in NT this year. She's not able to kill a single ball, and she's struggling on that since Superliga's playoffs.

About Macris, I agree as well. But I disagree about the lack of opportunities she's having in NT. Even against very weak teams, she had no chances to play as starter, and for a setter it is reaaaallly important to have some opportunities to play in order to get a better conections with attackers. It is clear for me that Ze wants to invest on Roberta and Dani Lins will have her spot for sure (actually, I never thought that Ze would cut her from WCH).

i hope she will be in the 5n1 inversions.

Fernanda tome is also good at reception..
She can block as well. I hope. Ze develops a position that is only capable of blocking!!!!! We already have a serving specialist!!! A setter, a dominant opposite.. mbs on top of their opponent's level

I don't know but I think you might be mentioning another Fernanda or another player, because Fernanda Tomé is very weak both in reception and defense. And to be honest, she's just an OK blocker...

Rosamaria Montibeller (BRA, OH) was confirmed as a Praia Clube player today for 18/19 season.

They have already announced their roster 18/19 season:

OPP: Nicole Fawcett (USA) and Paula Borgo
S: Carli Lloyd (USA), Ananda Marinho and Bruna Caixeta
MB: Fabiana Claudino, Carol Silva, Fran Jacintho and Gabriella Rocha
OH: Fernanda Garay, Rosamaria Montibeller, Michelle Pavão and Ellen Braga.
L: Suelen Pinto and Lais Vasques

    Source

It says that she joined a political party MDB, and she wants to start in some kind of election and that's why she might have to take a break in her sport career.

Some websites released this information around here as well, but then Bauru fans started to ask Tifanny about it on her instagram and she denied the info by saying that she will keep playing for Bauru.

I don't think she is NT material. And she is not young anymore.
And before someone says that Lara is also not NT material, I agree with that, but one thing does not exclude the other.

I agree that neither Mayhara and Lara are NT material, especially because we do have many high level MB, although we should stop mentioning this age thing in this forum... I usually get little unconfortable when reading such coments related to age... Mayhara is 29, same age as Lara, who's also 29. Pri Daroit and Tássia are almost 30, Claudinha turn 31 this year, and this are only a few examples. So,if you guys think that age is a relevant criteria, you should mention it for the whole roster and I will respect it.

If age is a criteria for Ze to select players for Brazil NT, then Juciely, Dani Lins, Sheilla, Jaqueline (and the list is countless) would've been kicked out from NT many moons ago. IDK, but for me the criteria should always be the level of players' performance and if they have shown enough physical condition to handle with tiring competitions such as VNL. An example is Walewska: she's 39 and still plays way better than the MB that are in VNL for example. If she wanted she could keep playing for Brazil because even being 39 she does have an enviable physical form.

We do have in Superliga many players with good level (of course not for the NT), hence this excludes the participation of youngsters, that are usually benched or do not even play the league. So, unfortunately, our best players are not the youngest ones. For me there is such a lack of criteria for Ze to call Ellen, Maira and other players that are younger but worse than other locals, which is the case of Mayhara and Mari Paraiba for me. NT should be the representation of our country's best players.

PS: This coment is more a discussion that I wanted to bring into this forum than a direct answer of your coments! Just clarifying :)

    almost

You can laugh or not. Nevermind
Brasil league not good league also almost all foreign players 2nd quality

They seem too rich club 8o it is really more money. But why people discuss about Boskovic's staying in Eczacibashi. If I was a player and got such more money every part of Turkey can be paradise for me. She came to volleyball for earning money and she did it, why does she have to leave Eczacibashi then  got such more money it is really amazing. I don't think Italian clubs can pay such more money for players. Turkish clubs are really rich. That's why players want to play there. They really satisfy their players with money. I wish I was a player and played there

I guess people forgets that volleyball is not only a hobby for professional players... It can be their hobby but they have to make money as well. Unfortunately it is a very short career.

I think Brazilian clubs are better in defence than Turkish clubs. Hooker can be in trouble when her team will play with Vakif, Eczaci and but when Hooker's team will play with other clubs she can feel herself comfort. There are 2 or 3 clubs can block or defence against her. I think Galatasaray can be a good option for her. I think she may play better in Galatasaray if they are gonna keep Tanya too, they can be a good team for next season.

I am sure she still have level to play for competitive teams, even in Turkish league which is one of the strongest we have today. However she has many problems in terms of discipline. For example... She renewed with Minas in May 2017 and she allegedly said that her visa was not ready until October/November (even though she knew she had to arrange everything to be in Belo Horizonte in September). She came back, took a long time to recover her physical shape and her first game as starter was in round 9. Even playing as starter, she underperformed in many matches possibly due to the fact that she was not in the same rhytm as her teammates and her opponents.

Ze Roberto sucks but his plans have worked for most part of the last 15 years by winning medals in almost every single tournament.

I think Ze is a good coach. That being said, I do think that the success we've achieved in the past 15 years are not only due to his strategy given the fact that our NT used to be really strong both individually and collectively. My point is that he should not apply the same strategy for a waaaay different group of players. We do have good players, but most of them are around their 30's and I do not think they can develop a lot more (which is Monique's case IMO), so that's why I think that other players should be given opportunity to show their potential, otherwise Ze will never know how Bruna or Milka or Mari Paraiba or Mayhara (and the list continous...) would behave in international level competitions.

She is lol She also burned the bridge by reporting her anger to the media.
I would've liked to at least see her in one of the games, but oh well.

I actually don't think that angry is the best word in this case... I would rather say that she is disappointed. Bruna did a really good Superliga, she was the 3rd best scorer (and she hasn't played the semifinals). I really would like to see her in the NT, especially because I don't think that Monique has any chance to guide Brazil against top international teams.
