Gonna pass on the match against Korea and catch some sleep before the holiday. If the bench or even a mix group was playing I'd watch, but knowing Cai Bin it'll be the same starters as usual.

Tapp!
Credit to Turkey, they made USA sweat and work for it!
-
Washington gurl...

Large Turkish community in Canada?

I really wanna know if Bajema hits those angles intentionally or she just hits the ball and hopes for the best
That one looked like a whiff.

Ebrar's defense today is not it.

great pick up by JWO!

Probably will be an underrated opinion but consistency is not Washington’s biggest strength but it is overlooked because she is cute and well liked. I love her and her energy too but she has to improve that.
I see that problem as well.
I feel like another reason it's overlooked is because she's a USA player. It almost seems taboo to criticize them.

That call was wrong. It's should've been USA's point.
Yeah what was that, reaching over???

why would anyone avoid china though... this team just dies when LYY and GXY are both in backrow.
and when Yuan is in the front.
I haven't seen stats, but from eye test it seems Wang has been getting more blocks/touches.

You have to appreciate a very good game by Maglio ~ 16 points, including the 6th block
Her coach in college, Dave Shoji (father of Erik and Kawika Shoji of USA Men's) would be proud. He was really patient with her progress over at Hawaii.

I just hope we pass quarters, then they get 2 extra matches and some players could be in the mix for individual awards.
The extra matches would be nice.
Since there are no Asian Games I wonder if China will have friendlies or something leading up to WCH for extra practice.

Diao has been improving bit by bit, but lets not get ahead of ourselves although her stats look good this was against Dominican Republic. Would've been better to see her play against USA/Japan, but we'll see how she does in the final rounds.

best spikers by efficiency (more than 100 pts scored):
Gong X.Y. 37.24% Koga 35.25% Li Y.Y. 33.68% these two are carrying the team so hard...
It's going to be a long WCH for them without Zhu. If Zhang joins then she will be able to contribute some help, but there's still other problems that need to be solved.

Hiw is the U20 irrelevant? Thet's where they all start.
I think what Ollie was referring to is that some of the younger U20 players could very well be playing here at VNL where the level is much more higher instead of there.
Playing at a youth tournament is a good start, but if a player that has potential can play beyond there then why not give them a shot. Some U18/U20 players aren't able to perform to their best level because other positions are be lacking. Example Wang Yindi at the recent U18 competion was rarely used because the setter can't set her. If she were to play with an older setter in another competition she can very well be more effective while gathering experience at the same time. Not to many U18/U20 OHs and liberos can receive well limiting middles with their attack, but if you were to have them play with more reliable passing then they are given a better chance.

the lineup never changes.
I always wonder why he doesn't especially when things aren't going well then I look back at Jiangsu and he always used the same lineup there too.
-
A young Alex Kingston, maybe?
Not who I was originally thinking of, but the similarities are there!
-
yes lol they have the same face
I kinda see it, but not really...
