is it a big deal to have the local, Chinese talent? Wouldn’t it be better to let in more foreigners, to allow players like LYY to go overseas
Tianjin won't let LYY go.
They have younger players (Wang Yizhu, Chen Boya) that have potential and are worth investing in to allow LYY to go abroad, but season after season these youngsters remained on the bench when Zhu joined them then when Vargas and Liu Yanhan were added this past year so their development has been on and off.
LYY is practically the face of the Chinese League, but you can tell it's getting too easy for her and not challenging anymore. If she wants to take her potential to another level abroad is the only choice.

I will say based on the score board I was surprised to see China take a set, let alone the first one.

At least she's part of the 14 player roster. For Gao Yi and Cai Yaqian (and now Miao Yiwen). They just follow the team, sit behind the service area and aren't even available to play. Lol.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if they used the same lineup they've been using for the remainder of the tournament, even against the likes of Korea in week 3...
I agree with everyone that NFF should be given more chances. Yes she'll likely struggle, but we haven't seen enough of her to make a clear judgement though we've already seen a lot of Wang Weiyi to know what she can't do.

Wang is definitely playing better offensively than Yuan. Yuan seems to degress offensively with no improvement in blocking. I think Yuan's peak was the best offensive MB in the world. If only she has Yan Ni's blocking skills.
Unfortunately I don't think any of China's current middles will reach anything close to Yan Ni's blocking.

People hyping Yang Hanyu's performance. lol. By the time she came in Canada's morale was already low and they were using their bench players. I would hope she would do well against their bench because if not...
We need to see more of her and Zheng. Is it wrong to say that it seems Wang Yuanyuan is outplaying Yuan right now?
