yes, without a doubt WMJ is their top libero at the moment. Linli was inconsistent in the super league, and besides her selection was affected by the overall poor performance of the Fujian team, but at least she was included in the centralised training. Zheng Yixin was not even invited.

What do you make of the players in the Chinese New Year greeting along with coach LP? There were 20 of them not including ZT and Yaodi. They included Duan Fang, Du QQ and setter Mei XH....Maybe a larger group of players are undergoing training...an Olympic squad and a backup team to participate in the VNL, if it’s going ahead or other tournaments.

I wouldn't read too much into the exclusion of ZT and YD. If they don't take ZT for any reason they're not winning vs. Italy, Serbia, USA ;) . Also I heard that she may have contracts do not allow her to advertise for other companies such as the one that sponsors the NT. And she appeared on other CNY greetings.

Depending on schedule there's no way that the A-team will miss ALL of VNL. They haven't played a serious international competition since 2019 world cup. But I hope to see new blood in the NT for VNL. idk about Duan Fang but Du QQ and Mei XH should certainly be included in the VNL squad.

I was a huge fan of AOA and saw how Choa was ostracised in the videos and how Jimin faked it all the way....

Which is why I hope that the friendship in GS Caltex is really genuine and they keep all their FA players - LSY, KSH, HSJ... and give them their big pay day esp if they win the championship this year...

Honestly some psychiatrist needs to study whether this is an issue in South Korea society or in general society is changing for the worst.

I don't know much about Choa, only the recent Mina situation which is what I was referring to.

To quote KYK's instagram(the photo of an old lady - but it seems she took it down):- the best revenge is no revenge, move on, be happy.

(Un)fortunately because of all this... Looks like the championship is open to GS Caltex if they don't screw up.

Honestly I think they are suffering becoz of Han Su Ji's injury (she was such a stabiliser in the middle) and their setters, AHJ is too unstable (LWJ should have more chances). But if they continue to exhibit their fantastic teamwork(hopefully its not a media facade), I'm really hopeful they win the championship.

I thought the MB was Kim Su-Ji? Or is that a different MB?

more like don't throw stones in glass houses if you ask me... or better yet don't put yourself in a glass house in the first place.

sounds like a tiger mom, wonder how the twins childhood was like in their own home, even forcing dayeong to train being lefty since it's rare.

you'd think she'd make the other twin (LJY) be a lefty since LDY is a setter who doesn't hit the ball... only thing good for being a lefty setter is to play the dump more easily (which happens like 5 times in a game?? and that's a lot) whereas hitters hit the ball like 50 times and you have the supposed advantage of being a lefty each time.

I wonder if all these ideas was something they thought of on their own or was it something the mom told them to do and if they didn't the mom would've abused them.

I don't believe their mother is innocent. No way. Maybe encouraged, maybe forced, but definitely involved.

However, the allegations against the twins are way above the level of the mean girls in the schoolyard or the dumb stuff you say as an immature child growing up. Those are criminal behaviors that should be severely punished and completely eradicated from this world. That's why it is my opinion that the Korean Volleyball Association should take a firm stance by banning both sisters from participating in any National Team activity for at least one year (a ban that should be prolonged if they don't show any sign of repentance). That includes the Tokyo Olympics too.

Maybe it's a cultural or translation issue, but I find the characterization of the Lee twins' actions as "bullying" to be misleading at best. Threatening someone with a knife is criminal behavior if you do it out on the streets, just because you're in a school doesn't change that to "bullying". And like you hinted/said (I've expressed this opinion before in this thread), I don't think their mother (KKH) should get a pass -- she actively encouraged this behavior and unlike the Lee sisters, she was a grown adult and can't hide behind age.

I'm not saying I'm an angel of any kind. Some 20 years ago, when I was 13-14 like the twins, I did make remarks on a regular basis that were at times racist, homophobic, sexist, fatphobic, etc... That was before social media and the new PC culture, when you could mock others in school for the color of their skin without any consequence.

This is the kind of behavior that comes to mind when I hear "bullying" (edit: not that it is right but it's significantly worse than criminal behavior). Not threatening someone with a knife.

This is 100% speculation but I think the twins simply couldn't deal with KYK's forthright and honest way of dealing with things. I believe the twins expected the Pink Spiders to be their team and be the centre of attention. When reality sunk in that KYK was really the leader of the team and was the one that called the shots, it was difficult for the twins to deal with it. LDY, being the sensitive and passive-aggresive person she is, took to social media to voice her concerns rather than keeping it internal. This ultimately led to the feud becoming public (and the victims being triggered and going public with the twins' past acts).

I think this ordeal is a gold mine for psychologists and sociologists alike. The twins were clearly entitled from a young age due to their mother being a professional volleyball player, and used this power imbalance to bully others. I believe this entitlement has carried on throughout their adult lives, each believing themselves to be the "ones" and needing to be the centre of attention (from a volleyball perspective). Prior to this year, LJY was the face of the Pink Spiders. This was her team and she was expected to carry them. While Hyundai Hillstate had Yang Hyojin, LDY was the "face" of the team who everyone dote on and Yang Hyojin, who has a mild and laid back personality, was happy to let that happen. Once KYK stepped in this year, it was a case where KYK and the twins just simply couldn't co-exist. In professional sports, this problems are common and it's up to the athletes to be able to be mature about it and sacrifice for the team. Sometimes they don't (Kobe and Shaq) and sometimes they do (Lebron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh). In this case, I believe KYK tried but the twins didn't.

I agree with this and your analysis. If you look at the shows Kim & teammates have been on she just roasts everybody (including the guests sometimes)

I wouldnt say banning for life. Someone posted in this thread, a baseball player was banned 50 games, 3 years from NT. It could be similar for the twins...(wouldnt wanna speculate atm)

I think from the accounts of the victims - what the twins did back then, were 2 worlds apart from their current wholesome image. In Asian societies, it's really no no (whatever they did in school, was pretty horrifying).

It's definite they would receive some sort of punishment, it would also take a while for the Koreans to forget (and hopefully forgive) this issue. Such a waste of talent, really.

So I looked at the Korean baseball league, they play 144 games in the regular season. OK, 50 games may not be as big of a deal in baseball compared to volleyball (50 games is like almost 2 seasons in V-league) but it's still ridiculous imo.

Also, it was ten years ago and they were 13/14. I doubt if they pursued normal careers (e.g. white collar job) they'd get cancelled this hard. Or that the victim would speak up, for that matter.

If KOVO is gonna ban the lee sisters, the championship would most likely be a fight between GS and Hipass. Considering how Pink Spiders is playing w/o the sisters, dont think they'll stand a chance for championship.

I'm still hoping KOVO would put the Olympics Games into consideration, cause it'll be the last chance Korea would have a chance for a medal under Lavarini + KYK is gonna retire after the OG. (well.. they did improve a lot during the world cup). Cause honestly, besides the lee sisters, there arent young players good enough for the international stage (yet).

Knetz have petitioned for the removal of lee sisters over on the blue house site, it has reached 50K+ signs in 2 days. But till now, there isnt official news on how they'll deal with the sisters.

Do we know any more information? I find it ridiculous to suggest banning players over something that surfaced 10 years ago for what seems like school bullying. If that was the standard for being out of a job then I'd estimate 70% of my highschool would be unemployed right now. And I went to a good highschool (granted, I live in the west, things are not the same here...).

    What is knetz?

    Found e reply here: https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Knetz

    pretty accurate, basically professional trolls

Yes, with the twins + KYK, they were competitive at the highest level. Didn’t they come within a whisker of depriving host Russia in the first round of the Tokyo 2020 qualifiers ?

Also, the team did well in the 2019 World Cup 😐

Yeah they did (well, except for the matches that they just gave up and rested Kim), and I wouldn't have bet on Russia surviving the European qualifiers. They'd be a favorite for sure, but no more than around 30%. (Turkey also 30%, Dutch 20%, the rest 20%)
