Asian Games might be delayed (i.e. pushed to 2023) due to ongoing lockdowns in Shanghai.

it doesnt matter. Teams shouldn't be guaranteed in the competition without sporting merit, especially at a time where rankings are more important than ever.
It would also make the competition more competitive... you cant just throw out your B/C team because you can.
Actually with the new kind of ranking system it's not necessarily an advantage for your ranking to play more games. But agreed on the point that teams shouldn't be guaranteed at all.
I think they could've picked the first year based on core teams, but after that just have top 12 stay and bottom 4 get replaced or something like that.
-
The VNL is inherently unfair, with “core” teams chosen by nothing other than money
most of the core women's teams are the top teams anyway

Zhu still recovering abroad, but enjoying some time off watching the Barcelona Open.
guy is Casper Rudd, Norwegian tennis player and no. 2 seed at the barcelona open.

Some sources eg Wikipedia have the matches involving China starting at around 1400 local time ...this would make it gmt 1200 as both Poland and the Netherlands are gmt+2.
I wonder if there have been some recent changes in the schedules
I live in Malaysia (gmt +8) so anytime between gmt 0400 and 1200....12 noon to 8 pm our time would be ok
Fivb website also said 14 local time.

what could go wrong...
0-4 but somehow beating Brazil

It seems like China is taking this VNL seriously
Of course a China team that has two of their three main outsides injured, and the second setter nowhere to be seen suddenly decides to take VNL seriously.
-
Zheng Yixin is at a disadvantage due to her height.
come on, you still want to see her.
I'm not as invested this year but I'll still see how they do at VNL and WCh.

Right now, if countries don't want to pay for hosting, the FIVB/Volleyball World are more than willing to put it in places that would be interesting hosting.
Philippines team is nowhere near as competitive as other teams in Asia. If they were positioned higher in Asian Confederation, then possibly could be in the VNL playing.
give it a decade or so. I'm sure talent will rise.

That being said, I wish we could take the masks off. I certainly don't enjoy it.
-
Wearing a mask is frankly more simple than your "live like there's no covid" solution. Simple as that.
hospital workers wear masks every single day. haven't heard them complain like a b****

Club world championships too if i'm not mistaken.

Bossier City
You said nothing bad about Sofia, but anything bad about Bossier City?

Remember what the colors represent
Blue - Western Europe
Black - Central Europe
Red - Eastern Europe
Yellow - Northern Europe
Green - Southern Europe

I would just remove the host from A1 lol
host with #8 and #9 is not ideal (obviously an advantage) but different than with ranked #11 imo.
the skill level drops way off.
-
The only thing I can see making it more "fair"
is to set up the QFs where A1 draws a second seed, B1/C1 get a third seed.
but i doubt that will happen.
I like the one i suggested, four groups of three each, top 2 advance.
-
correct.
At least FIVB did some thinking for this one! How lucky we are

Also I don't really see the covid measures in China ending in 2023. I really hope I'm wrong though.
