I hope they will bring more new players to the list this year.

Nanami Hirose (廣瀬七海) can try to replace Nagaoka. She is good at attack as well.

Nanami Seki (関菜々巳) should get a chance to play for National team. I think her set is good with very high quality to outside hitters.

Mai Irisawa (入澤まい) also can be tested in international competitions.

There is few potential outside spikers in Japan as they are very short and V League is not most competitive. But still worth to try some new players to see their performance.

According to FIVB, the participants of World Cup 2019 have been officially confirmed.

Feel bad for European teams, they will have to finish Euro Championship on Sep 29, then World Cup starts on Oct 1. or that might means some European teams need to drop either of it to play with 2rd squad.:super:

    • Men's 2019 FIVB World Cup:

    Host: Japan

    World Champion: Poland

    Asia: Iran & Australia

    Africa: Egypt & Tunisia

    Europe: Italy & Russia

North and Central America and Caribbean: USA & Canada

    South America: Brazil & Argentina

Unfortunately, true with almost any female topic here indeed. I think there are more fans of female volleyball here, that's the reason. I wish it had been at least 50-50, but such has been the status quo since the very beginning.

Thanks to you both for the explanation! It was the word retirement that made it unclear, that's all. I also know this practice from football mostly. I am not sure what the best way to describe the situation is, perhaps somewhere between camp and isolation.

I thought it's called Closed training Camp!

Hisamitsu won easily against Denso. ( I did not watch because I could not find a free stream anywhere)... I want anyone to win besides Hisamitsu....I don`t want the V-League to be 1 vs everyone type thing like we see in other leagues.

I think currently Hisamitsu is the best of clubs in Japan with good reception and speed attack system. The weakest link is their setters.

The other teams need to invest more capital to buy better players. Like the Men's league does, the clubs in Japan Men's League did buy more players to strengthen themselves.

I remember there was a rumor about USA starting a volleyball league last year. I guess it's a lost cause now:huh:

Larson & Hill for beach volleyball:D

Larson's picks for the dream team, the same as Tijana, except for libero, she picked Simge.

in fact, they had 8 male teams playing. It called National Volleyball Association, it's to me that it founded by former US athletes like Lloy Ball, David Smith, Russell Holmes. They had played for 2 seasons and arranged plenty of games. I hope that they can keep on the good work and more investments will go to the teams.

You can check out their website (NVA USA) and app.

There's just not that many available dates with the amount of tournaments this year. I'm sure other teams like china will have to adjust and send a lower level roster.

VNL starts at 21st May, Except China, all teams will be playing in Europe. Hence, I think all teams will send A team to Swiss unless they want the B team to play in Europe in the first week of VNL.

    Timed game doesn't fit volleyball.

Timed game fit sports that contain physical contact like football. You want to players keep running and fighting for the control of the ball. But volleyball just easily paused after the ball hit the floor.

Totally 5 teams have been qualified for Final 6, they are :

    1. Panasonic Panthers

    2. Suntory Sunbirds

    3. JT Thunders

    4. Toyoda Gosei Trefuerza

    5. Toray Arrows

The last spot will be decided between JTEKT Stings & Sakai Blazers. Unlike women's , Japan Men's V.League is more competitive due to the reform of the league. No one knows the Final 6 until the last week of regular season.

To be honest, I think Sakai Blazers deserves the final spot as it makes a huge progress this year with the joining of Masahiro Sekita. One setter can make a huge difference.

15 points for one set is so boring and lack of competition.

FIVB did tried it out at U-23 World Championship 2017. 15 points system is the one which sabotage the intensive atmosphere. I think one of the charm of volleyball is to see a team come back from weaker start.

And 25 points for 1 set is totally reasonable and acceptable as it averagely cost 30 minutes per set which is good for commercial break.

More to FIVB should consider is how to balance technical time out and challenge, currently you can break the games so many time by having 2 technical time outs and using 2 challenges. It's not the way I enjoy volleyball.
