I think everyone agrees Vakif is way better at preparing matches especially at knockout stages, but Ecz isn’t really a “clear level below” the other big 2 in TL. Ecz actually ranks above Vakif in both last season and this regular season in TL.

ecza won literally nothing of importance in the past decade, apart from a WCC against the weakest field ever. regular season doesn't mean anything, they're forever stuck at number 2-3 while vakif and fener are taking turns winning titles.

Ecza literally beat Vakif every time they seen them in last 2 years :)

they beat the weakest vakif of the past decade and then got repeatedly stomped by fener. 2 years ago, they lucked out in the CL and made it to the final only to get steamrolled by vakif. last year they went 2 sets up against imoco, and then totally crumbled since they had no idea how they even won the first two sets; in the second leg, they were nowhere to be seen altogether.

whatever metric you take into account, ecza isn't even remotely comparable to fener or vakif, and the gap will get only larger from here since boskovic also had enough of playing for, with all due respect, such a loser club.

now all i want is for Ecsa to have the same come back win.

sorry but thinking ecza comes anywhere near vakif in terms of mental toughness and preparation is laughable. ecza is a clear level below vakif and fener in turkish league, they simply don't have the killer instinct, ambition and culture of a winner club, they're more like a glorified zeren.

And to those who said Derya is useless and not deserving a spot

if she was a regular with turkey she'd be much less effective, it's just that italy don't know what to do with her yet. this match should have been career-best for both ebrar and hande but they've been nowhere to be seen.

i don't think brazil have enough weapons to overcome americans' experience. usa will probably distrupt whatever rhythm they'll try to maintain and it'll be a very frustrating match for brazilians.

assuming the injuries on turkish side aren't serious, they cannot afford another slow start, they'll have to be absolutely clinical in pretty much every critical point and take it to 5 sets, also ebrar needs to show up, otherwise it'll be over before they even know it. whatever the outcome will be, i think the winner of this match is also gonna get the gold.

Why are you so agressive? It's a volleyball forum and someone made an interessing argument about rules. No one is attacking Turkey nor you and you are calling people idiots etc. The whole situation with rotation is quite interesting so now I'm rewatching the game and clearly with the 2 first times when Vargas is in position 4 it's Karakurt who is standing closer to the line than her (she is standing on her right side).

tbh, i didn't call anyone idiot.

Turkey is set to compete against either Serbia or Italy, which promises to be an exhilarating match-up.

It will be particularly exciting to watch Vargas go head-to-head with either Boskovic or Egonu.

unless the injuries prove to be non-serious, i don't think turkey will be very competitive in the rest of the tournament. they won this one due to sheer willpower but you can't do that in 3 matches back-to-back.
