This level in first set is higher than all of the other qf put together. So much fun! Back and forth. Russia starting good, Brazil just getting more and more fired up.

The thing with usa is that they have very good players. But usually when you think about USA it is all about them middles. And they are invisible this olympics. And when strong middles are invisible it is usually receiving or setter. 😑

Japan without a doubt, has got good defense. What they are lacking is a stable offender. Most of the time they are getting blocked, they go roll shots, the attacks are getting slowed. If Japan wants to reach past QF in the future, they have to develop a reliable attacker
I would say this japanese team is rather bad at defense compared to what they usually are. Momii is for good setting but she lacks in defense. Kurogo is not good at all in defense. It worked ok with the attack power from Koga but without they lack too much of what made them competative. Shinnabe and miyashita was needed to challenge these teams in defense.

USA is much better too than what Italy is showing right now at least, can't say anything about Serbia as they aren't even being challenged yet right now
I agree, I think they would struggle against all the top four teams from vnl. Then again hard to tell from friendly match. But with what China showed against usa they look unbeatable after having watched the level in these friendly games.

Ah well to analyze usa. Dreews is still alot better than thompson for how usa plays, thompson maybe only beating her on oos balls. K Robinson should be in the important matches always.
