That way out of bound service error by Vargas after 20 pt, then followed by her dumb decision to just hit hard into the block when the set was way too low and in front of the 3m line was the main reason costing them losing the 4th set. When Eda finally chose to compete and AC brought positive impact once in a (long) while, Vargas was just selling.

You do realize Lanier came from injury? and yet throughout the entire season her stats are way better than Piva's. Just because she does the bare minimum doesn't mean she did well. At the end of the day they still lost

Receiving 34 times at 81%+ 56% perf with no mistake, attacking at 44% (15/34), and lots of great defends at the back row, against the arguably best team in the world. That’s the “bare minimum” she did and can’t even be considered doing well lol

95% of all other OHs in the world should just hang their boots and retire then:wavy:

Kurtagic is 10/15 in attack with no errors plus

    4 blocks and 2 aces

    16 pts and +15WL

She’s really improved a lot in attack, she’s not just an option but she is top5 attack% in Italian league this season

And Bosio finally remembered her middles tonight.

Far from the best display from Imoco, but Egonu’s unfortunate injury helped them to get through this time. Luckily it doesn’t seem serious, hopefully with a few days recovery she will be fine next match. Akimova isn’t ready for this level after not playing regularly for so long.

Credits to Piva, she definitely scared Imoco tonight, but she was too underused in the tiebreak, how come she only received 2 sets in the whole 5th set…

Zhu has always preferred to play fast with her two step approach. Even more effective against a strong blocking team like Milano…

Yes, but those fast sets still have to be high enough for a 1.98m player. Didn’t you see how many low sets Zhu was forced to just push over?

The last set to Gabi was also way too low and tight that costing her to be blocked by Bosio(!) and the 2nd set.

This first set is a great example of this but man it’s got to be so frustrating to play vakifbank. You can do everything right and for them to have two different attackers that can bail you out of almost any out of system set no matter how ugly it’s just not fair lol. If vakifbank manages to dig a ball they score at will. You have to be near perfectly offensively to beat them or your block defense has to be amazing

    Perfect jinx:rolll:

I’ve said it many times and people act like I’m some Terzic apologist but the core of Fener’s offense was built by him. After the pins started to show up in his system and they won the title the managment thought that they could put anyone in charge and the result would be the same.. they have 0 idea what they’re doing as they only barely won the title once more (3-2 against much weaker Eczacibasi with Ferhat).
The solution of managment is to bring whatever known name and throw money to established players who are great but don’t fit their system (Orro, Korneluk, even Chiaka and Castillo next season). Changing coach every season for 4 in a row doesn’t help them either and their HC choices are random and ridiculous as well.

Vakifbank on the other hand is team built around their core with specific idea of what kind of player they need to complement their game. The only ridiculous move was letting Gabi go as her and Markova were automatic 5/5 trophy duo. Bosetti was the logical choice although it didn’t quite work out. Cazaute and Dangubic are the most logical choices next to Markova. Boskovic was the OP that fits Vakifbank the best with Cansu’s “watermelons” sets. Karmen was their player and is a great MB but I get why they wouldn’t necessarily need her considering she is more of a offensive MB, so even that can make sense. Ivanovic is (no bias) one of the best prospects for all around OH, maybe it was too early for Guidetti to add her but I always knew she would fit Vakifbank’s system in the long run.
Now compare how Fener’s players fit their system (what even is their system at this point lol).

Eczacibasi always had terribly messy transfer policy but this season with core of Ebrar, Dilay, Elif and Rettke plus Bregoli they managed to add players that actually compliment what they need. They only failed in MB department as Jack will be huge loss. Tbh still much better transfer period for them in rebuilding whole team in 2 seasons then Fenerbahce trying to fit as many known names that don’t compliment each other into a working squad for 4 seasons now…

Fener actually made some appeared to be logical transfers on paper this season. Hande as an OH2 and local player to help passing and defense next to Arina. Korneluk as the foreign MB to strengthen the blocking as their game doesn’t involve much middle attack anyway. Also the record breaking contract for the “best setter who has won everything” lol

Just all these transfer turned out to be failures, some are expected and some aren’t. Hande being the same Hande, had some good games early in the regular season and then turned to the old (bad) version again in important matches. Orro set the pins pretty well but her poor connection with all the MBs throughout the whole season made their lives even harder. Korneluk being a ghost was the most unexpected and disappointing one for me, I thought she would be a good upgrade over Asli.

Congrats Vakif, progressed to the final as expected but unexpectedly with big difficulties in this second match.

Big credits to Ecz, after being completely demolished in the first leg as well as the first set of this match, came back really strong and the whole team showed excellent fighting spirit. Dilay is a gem, so young and talented, yet so calm and steady in such big stage, and being such a tall setter is a huge plus. Stysiak has put her best out there since the second set (although that last serve was really unforgivable…) Yaprak has shown she’s the best 2nd OH next to Ebrar by a big margin to all other Turkish OHs. I’m glad that they are able to show the level of their victories over Milano again in this match instead of just giving up easily. If they could play like this again in the CL, they would have a good chance against Scandicci to advance to the final.
