Matches in day 1 & 2 were mostly one sided with the exception being today's hard fought match between Kazakhstan and Philippines which ended with Kazakhstan winning 3-1 (27-29, 26-24, 25-23 and 25-19).
Tomorrow's matches promises to be more exciting with the top teams facing opponents who can hit back...
China vs Kazakhstan
Korea vs Vietnam
Thailand vs Chinese Taipei
Japan vs Indonesia
Hong Kong, Chn and Mongolia are expected to get their first wins against Qatar and Kyrgyzstan respectively.
Display MoreI don't think so. Even everyone of CVA is other (Li Shan? Hui Ruoqi? other officials not from volleyball? ), Zhu Ting, Yao Di and Yuan Xinyue still equal the retirement at NT!
Yuan Xinyue couldn't continue her career - please see Flora Hamman, Vigor Bovolenta and so on...
even better coaches? in fact, now, local coaches? I don't believe any one. overseas coaches? I don't believe any one, either!
PS: I don't hope that the first overseas head coach of Chinese women's NT be from Italy. All of the NTs are with the same style. At least, I don't like it.
I prefer to believe present CVA.

The players are upset because they lost in the final. They blame themselves for not doing enough, which they shouldn't. Most of us think coach Zhao should take full responsibility for the result.
It must be said that the CVA was at fault too, because of their inaction. A year ago, Zhao had shown he is incapable of leading the team, yet he was allowed to continue.
You said before, Zhao and previously Cai Bin were hired because other, potentially better coaches, declined. Did the CVA ever ask why they didn't want the position?
Was it a problem within the CVA itself. That seems to be the case when senior players like Zhu Ting, Yaodi and Yuan refused to join the team. 🤔

Since winning the Asian Championship and arriving home to a rapturous welcome, the Thai women's team and their fans have been celebrating the victory in a big way with parties and hometown visits. Even the prime minister met with them. 😀

This time I would say the Dream Team is correct, ... or were there some other interesting names that could have been included?
Yes, I think they got it right this time. The only thing I might add is, regarding the opposite position, it's a pity the award is usually given to just one player. Wada, who has been outstanding, fully deserved the award of course, but Pimpichaya and Iran's Elahe (No18) were also very impressive.

I am thinking of watching this final live in Nagoya but the tickets are so hard to come by. One of my colleagues’ daughter is going to be a volunteer on ground giving out the balls to players hehe.
My personal favorite is Kyrgyzstan and PRC.
A useful link for you... if you decide to watch live
The Asian Games or "Asiad" is Asia's biggest multisport event, The 20th Games in Japan will see athletes from 45 countries competing in 469 medal events across 43 sports. This thread's main focus is on the women's volleyball tournament.

Thailand finally got their revenge after they were robbed of that 2016 spot. I am so happy for them. Kinda bittersweet thinking about how the Golden Six never made it to Olympics but these new gen will carry the dream for them.
To think about it, Ajcharaporn used to play with the Golden Six. Crazy to think how long she has been with the national team.
I believe that Chatchu-on and Pimpichaya were also in the roster back then
Yep, they all did, at the start of their careers. Ajcharaporn is like a link between this generation and the " Fab Five or Six" whereas Pimpichaya and Chatchu-On is generally considered the current generation, along with Thatdao, Pornpun, Libero Piyanut, Thanacha and Hattaya...and a new generation is on the way, led by Natchaya Tahae (b.2009).
It's interesting that Nootsara Tomkom, Malika and Pluemjit are still playing club volleyball whereas Wilawan is a coach. Recently retired Onuma might also take up coaching duties. She was seen celebrating with the players last night.
They deserved the win ! They were the better team today.
Around10 years ago they narrowly missed the chance to go to Rio16. They led 9-3 in the fifth, but somehow lost it 13-15. For the first time a team from Thailand, and SEAsia will play in the Olympics !
Hopefully China and Japan can join them in LA 28
China actually look even messier than Japan yesterday, their benches are however much much better so hopefully we get a more interesting match
It's Thailand's turn to be messy in set 2
China's big hitters and monster blockers
VS
Thailand's combination plays and superb floor defense
Zhuang Yushan vs Sasipaporn
