The Hong Kong team does occasionally perform above their ranking but in the following sets, that confidence and belief seemed to disappear.
Yep...
Also maybe they used up all their energy in the first set

-
Korea has lost set 1 to Hong Kong.
If they lose this match, they could miss the QFs

update
Korea 3-1
-
3 teams are fighting for 2 remaining QF spots.
Kazakhstan, having completed their 3 matches, have a points ratio of only .9270
Vietnam have already surpassed this, even assuming 0-3 loss to Japan.
Chinese Taipei, who will play tomorrow is expected to get a QF spot as well.
update
Match ended, Japan 3-0
Vietnam have points ratio of 1.0233
Chinese Taipei currently have 1.3504
with a match to come against China. assuming China wins 3-0, C.Tpe need only to score 39points to stay ahead of Vietnam.. 13 points per set, not too hard to achieve

Vietnam vs Japan
Japan has a narrow lead in set 1. Vietnam let down by poor reception.
-
That set lost from Thailand may push them to rank 3 and they will have to face Korea in QF, the last time these 2 met. Korea won 3.1 so... 🙄
Yep, likely to happen, if Indonesia, Iran and Korea all win by 3-0, Indonesia will rank 4 due to better sets ratio. Iran will probably nudge ahead of Korea by point ratio. Their match against Iraq is happening now and poor Iraq is in the receiving end again... 4-25, 7-25 and 5-23 so far. Thus Iran is expected to take 5th position and Korea 6th

Update on score:
Iran 3-0 Iraq (25-4, -7, -5 )
-
Kazakhstan has taken set 3 25-23

-
Iran looks better than before. Today, they managed to make things difficult for China at times. If it weren’t for the mandatory dress code, I’m sure they would be even better.
Yes, they've a few really strong hitters...
About their dress code, it's interesting that players from neighbouring Iraq used to be like that but at this tournament they appear to be more 'liberal' 🤔
-
Kazakhstan will be 9th for sure. It's a pity because they showed some pottential this summer.
They're playing Thailand atm and going toe to toe... not being overwhelmed at all !
They are leading 16-15 in set 1 !

Looking at the combined standing after each team has played 2 matches and with one match remaining:
China, Thailand and Japan are nos 1-3. They have 2 wins (3-0) each and the difference being points won/loss, China with a massive points ratio courtesy of that lop sided win over Iraq.
Nos 4 to 9 is interesting as all of them have 1 win and 1 loss.
No4 Chinese Taipei, Won 158pts, Lost 117pts...Ratio of 1.3504
(next match vs China)
No5 Vietnam W158 L138 R 1.1367
(next match vs Japan)
No6 Kazakhstan W142 L135 R1.0519
(next match vs Thailand)
No7 Indonesia W124 L142 R 0.8732
(next match vs Australia)
No8 Korea W167 L116 R 1.0060
(next match vs Hong Kong)
No9 Iran W144 L158 R 0.9114

25-4 /-6 and now 18-2 😅
True but at least they manage to make a few hits and scored a few points.
