Pallavolisti hasn't posted anything yet but Antropova has reached her 300 points in VNL today after the match against Japan
-
they havent played a good team yet and lost to canada. dont count on it lolol
Well Germany lost to Ukraine and beat Brazil
anything can happen. I'd be ok with USA winning so that the three way rivalry between fans of Brazil Italy and Turkey calm down a bit lol -
USA is currently #1 they might as well win this entire thing

Stautz has her whole right leg bandaged and her foot in such a giant plastic brace that you get for foot injuries
So maybe it's more serious after all."Stautz suffered an unfortunate injury after the ceremony following the Turkey match. After the match, Stautz was taken to the hospital, where a fracture was detected."

Hopefully Araki will return in Week 3. She wasn't seen with crutches or anything.
The problem with Araki is how injury prone she is. I swear Saga middles are cursed when it comes to injuries

Fukudome was useless throughout the match against Italy. Defense is a mess.
They need Iwasawa

Lol
I dislike the Brother, because I got a chance to watch all his games with Sir Safety and I never found him any better than Oleh and Semeniuk, but he used to start a lot till 2024/25.
This is the first time I ever say something negative about the Sister.
Both ovverated players. This is for sure.
I don't follow the brother but Japan's women's team would be NOTHING without Mayu so I don't get how you could call her overrated. It's not like she even gets mentioned by any European player when asked who the Best OH is so how is she overrated by any means? for helping her team?
-
She can have a standout game once in a while but the majority of the games she's just mid or worse, I'd choose Nagels over her.
Meanwhile MB Fransen already has 14 points, while Herbots is stuck on 5 lol
I always wondered why van snack doesn't give her more opportunities when van sas is struggling
-
Okay they're right she is bad .....in that sense
lmaoo
-
Ok but who is saying this "Straube, Seki, Van Aalen (and almost all the others) all terrible?" What category are you basing these bad setters from?
All three had a good club season playing for mid to bottom teams not to mention it was Straube's first time in Italy playing for a newly promoted team where they had a grandma playing. I'd like to see your best setter Cansu play for San Giovanni and not have it relegated.
I bet they're basing it off the fact that Straube is going back to German league despite getting other offers from Italy

The truth is, that Vargas is one of the best (of at most 5) opposites of the world and Germany is lightyears behind this level in attack with all players.
You guys are forgetting that they went 2-3 against Italy too when Egonu was benched last year. Their first time facing each other in Brazil not during the quarterfinals when Egonu dusted them.
It's almost a pattern with Germany. They always choke after 2 straight wins and can't seem to keep their offense going once Alsmeier either slows down or the right doesn't work at all even against Netherlands they suffer the same fate so it's not so much Vargas.
Timmer is surprisingly decent this year but not enough.

Why is this her story? I've seen a few SAGA-heads say it. I'm not buying it (yet). The funny thing about her the other day is that when whatever happened to her happened to her she looked to me like she reverted to old school SAGA inspired NT wussy whack ball. She's not up to the starter pins level yet but 13/30 @43% in her first(?) full A team NT match isn't bad
Actually maybe Kitty does have that potential but that very specific Japanese pressure to be like Saori hasn't fully sinked in.
Ishii from what I can recall was also not big on scoring during her first years with the NT but Nakada bullied her into being a full fledged all-rounder
pretty sure she was invited first before Nagaoka and Shinnabe. We'll see how that goes for Kitty since Nakada is in charge. -
Kitty is definitely not a scorer to begin with and Ferhat shouldn't use her that way.

What are you guys are watching

First of all, a 159cm setter is not new for Japan. Who did Funhat entrust to quarterback the Tie-Breaks this VNL? It wasn't for blocking! Who won them?
DOM match had Kiity and ::cough::Nishizaki ::cough:: I think that was an okay double whammy to try out. Hinata got a few swings. Kitty looks fine to me this match. She clearly had something happen to her the other day. Let's not jump so quickly to "horrible"I mean, how many years is Seki going to get ... trying? If you want to talk about "this level"?
The height thing shouldn't bother anyone since it is normal for them but Seki works better with a frantic Yoshino and Sakae has a more balanced approach/distribution (not her biggest fan when Nagaoka was around
) even though she's still a little rough when it comes to utilizing middles. I also don't know why Nakagawa reverts to 2nd tempo so much it's making it hard to get any scoring.Ultimately Japan always struggles against DR, a tale as old as time lol.
Btw I mentioned this in the VNL thread, Toshiki said Seki complained about thigh pain so there's also that.
-
where are all who praised japan?
Japan is always like that
Start tournaments like fire
Then cracks at the end...always something misses for them
Araki got injured and Seki has some sort of thigh pain
-
Nakagawa is not for this level
-
so naturally, they’re down 1-2 to the Dominicans 😭😅
Japan's weakness DR

it used to be Netherlands
-
that belgium germany rally in the 2nd set is the slowest ive seen in awhile. very little intensity and belgium is clearly recovering from the brazil match where they gave everything
Good. Germany really needs this win.
