It was a good start, I never didn't have seen none of these players, and seems they never play a competition together, so basing on that, I found the team considerable better than the U20.
I did like Juliana skills on attack too, really powerful and fast, the outside hitters looked good too, especially Aline, that Rebeca MB it's really tall. The libero is for sure the weakest link.
Argentina is a tough team on defense, they are very smart, but Brazil managed to serve good and put a lot of pressure in block, some usual mistakes to this categorie, but was fun to watch. Let's see what we can do against Russia, Bulgaria and Slovakia.
This team is far better than the U20 team. They probably won't medal, but I have better hopes for them on next 2 years. Aline and Juliana were the stand-outs of the match

Hmm, I didn't watch the game, but was Luiza Vicente (OH) there? She's not listed in the website for today's game stats.
Luiza got injured, but it was a minor problem. Probably she will be back in elimination round

Yeah, I'm completely out of the loop, but that seems likely. I'm not familiar with any of these girls though, so perhaps Brazil_lover can give more insight later on as they seem more in touch with it.
As I said, Helena is a really good prospect. Her height and technique were good for her age. But her head wasn't ok. Some fans were saying that the methods of the U18 coach were not good (aka screaming like crazy with the girls), some said that she didn't like trainning, etc. But all of this is gossip. Nobody really knows what happened. I hope she can prove herself in her club (Flamengo) and maybe even play Superliga

Probably because of her height. She might've look good in the youth categories because of her early growth spurt, but if her other skills didn't improve then other shorter players who have developed those skills will look better.
Maybe the back opposite outperformed her and she didn't like the idea of being benched?
The backup OPP (Larissa) is good too, but she is a bit more "raw" than Helena. Hope she put up a good performance!

Brazil had its final cut, the libero Fernanda. The 1,99 OPP Helena Wenk left the team for "personal reasons", but the rumors are that she had a breakdown and fought with tecnical staff. The girls will travel to Mexico tomorrow...

Netherlands was carried by their OHs, who did amazingly well. Dambrink still needs to find herself, but I think is more a matter of experience
