It's no use continuously comparing the Men's and Women's team since they are in a completely different level now. Even before the Men's got a podium finish at VNL, popularity is very different.

Hinotori has way bigger problems than that :rolll: They can't even find their right combination of players yet  Regardless of the result this year, there are a lot of things that needs to be changed in how they handle the Women's NT, including the Coach. Enough of the next Saori or what. They need to start from scratch and really build a good program.

The new plan of "winning medals every year" will prove to be problematic for the women's team because they're always a hundred steps behind not only the men's team but all the big national teams in general. Even China is sending their players to Vakif and other top teams. Thailand is sending their players to gain better skills. If Koga wants to be the proud wife that's fine. Araki always wanted the public to know that she's a proud mother. That has nothing to do with their abilities as players anyway it's just one facet of them as an individual. But without the reinforcements needed to make this team stronger then what medals can we expect them to win? Friendly matches like the one in France?

This is not at all realistic for the women's right now they're way behind in "globalization" and Manabe failed to take one step towards that. Koga isn't an international figure and at her age she will never be. Mayu is just starting her career in Italy. It's more attainable for the men's team since they're already leading in both global status and they can be marketed easily whereas the women's team don't have that (yet)

I agree but a lot can change in the span of 1-2 years depending on the coach and new talent. During Ishikawa and Yanagida's time when Saori was still the figurehead of the sport things were moving slow for them as well but all that changed when exciting new players like nishida and ran takahashi came along. The article emphasizes the future starting with LA2028 so it won't start with Koga anymore.

"a lot of documents" is possibly code for top team privilege.

If anyone knows Nick Fazekas former NBA he also got his citizenship within months in 2018 he's with Brave Thunders in B League one of the strongest teams until now. Achievements with the local club are also very likely taken into consideration especially if that athlete leads the team, has won championship with that team or is crowned MVP in a national tournament and would therefore be a big help in the national team. Fazekas is still active in the men's basketball team that represents Japan.

All the more reason for Valdes to leave PFU asap. Uemura can take over

Ebata no longer had any chance in the NT once she went to PFU meanwhile other players despite getting injured multiple times still make the NT at least once before they retire. Ebata never got that chance again.

Alain from the Men’s side also graduated in High School in Japan. He got his Japanese citizenship just last month as announced by his club.

He graduated from a Japanese high school in March 2020. Melissa graduated 2021. No idea when they applied.

Is this his first time in the NT or was he already in the NT prior to this year?

was otomo's daughter considered a trainee when they got her last year? i dont think ive heard of getting "trainees" in the nt before so the addition of valdes and santiago seems like it was prompted by jva and not because manabe was considering them.

i was just thinking with kurogo, inoue and yoshino sato's addition that this team is doomed. but sato is his only popular with the locals new blood without a backbone while kurogo is most likely there for the buzz idk why inoue is even there at all. once he does use kurogo or bench mayu for inoue that way i can confirm that manabe has already given up.

    Niida>>>>>

    Nonaka>>

On another note, it was smart of Seki to make this deal and escape to Italy regardless of the results of the Olympics. And of course Mayu will keep growing there as well.

Which one of these wing spikers are oh and which ones are opps? Or can they all receive and attack both sides?

All are OHs except Hayashi but she has the best reception among all the spikers. I'm not too familiar with Yoshino Sato since she's a college player and the last time I saw her all she made were errors

I think Kurogo is only meant to be this year's PR headline just to draw attention

    2022 - Miyashita

    2023 - Nagaoka

    2024 - Kurogo

You guys don't have to worry about her stealing Hayashi's spotlight
