The article also mentions that the contracts with Fidon and Grbavica were resolved during the season which explains why Fidon was able to sign with Cannes. I'm surprised about Grbavica though, from some of her Insta posts I thought she was still doing her rehab in Dresden.

Grbavica currently seems to be back in Serbia and is training there with Radnički Beograd. There she could theoretically become Kimberley Drewniok's successor next season.

I could imagine Patricia Nestler. She did a good job in Vilsbiburg. She will hardly want to sit on the bench in Schwerin for another year if either Pogany or Llabres stay.

Annie Cesar would also be an option.

I don't see Patricia Nestler at Dresdner SC, but as the successor to Anna Pogany at Schweriner SC, whether with Patricia Llabrés as support or not. In my opinion, Annie Cesar is more of a variant for Dresdner SC than Patricia Nestler.

Unfortunately yes. She suffered this serious injury in the last game before the playoffs. The operation will be scheduled soon (April 15th) and then we will see in more detail what happens next. Unfortunately, even an end of her career is possible.

The coaching team around Michal Mašek has already announced the expanded squad of the Slovak national team. The squad is a mix of experienced players (such as Barbora Koseková, Karin Palgutová and Nikola Radosová) and young talented players (such as Nina Boledovičová).

S: Barbora Koseková (1994), Lucia Sedláčková (1999), Anna Kohútová (2003)

OH: Karin Palgutová (1993), Maria Žernovič (1993), Karolína Fričová (2000), Zuzana Šepeľová (1999), Nikola Radosová (1992), Lucia Herdová (2000), Simona Jelínková (2001), Deana Valentová (2005)

U: Karin Šunderlíková (1999), Diana Návratová (2003), Zuzana Písečná (1997), Michaela Jančová (2003)

B: Katarína Kormendyová (1999), Tereza Hrušecká (2002), Ema Smiešková (2003), Nina Boledovičová (2004), Barbora Truchlá (2006)

L: Michaela Pállová (1999), Skarleta Jančová (1997), Ema Magdinová (1999), Zuzana Justhová (2004)

In my opinion, the squad doesn't contain any big surprises. Compared to last year's Golden League squad, even more experienced players could take part. Because last year, for example, Karin Palgutová, Maria Žernovič and Nikola Radosová did not take part in the Golden League. The first two mentioned were then in the squad for the European Championship.

The reasons why they might take part this year are obvious. For Slovakia, the Golden League is the only major national team event this year. However, with a view to the 2025 World Championships, it is important for Slovakia, as Slovakia does not want to squander its good starting position for participating in a World Championships for the first time.

In terms of the squad, you could perhaps say that the middle block position could become a weak point. Because there, Slovakia has to herald the change for the new generation. Long-time middle blocker Michaela Abrhámová has ended her career and Nina Herelová is out with a torn cruciate ligament.

We have now some clue regarding European Cups participation: if Dresden wins against Wiesbaden the decisive third playoff match, they will not only secure at least a CEV cup ticket (again) as all other semi final participants (the two finalists will get into CL), but Wiesbaden will be out of European Cups, because Suhl did better before the playoffs and get the Challenge Cup ticket. Should Wiesbaden upset Dresden in their hall, Dresden would play Challenge Cup instead and Wiesbaden as the others still in race CEV Cup.

But the question is also whether a club like Suhl or Wiesbaden really wants to play in Europe. I am aware that they are obliged to do this purely by licensing regulations. But you also have to recognize that the European adventures of Wiesbaden and Suhl, which were definitely positive in terms of sport, have caused financial problems for the teams.

After Vedrana Jakšetić continues to be unavailable, VfB Suhl has promoted the 16-year-old Zoe Jichová to the first team. She previously played for the second team of VfB Suhl and for the Volley Juniors Thuringia in the Regionalliga East. That is why it is not a transfer, but rather a so-called leveling up.

Zoe Jichová is listed as German in all databases, even if her name suggests otherwise. She is the daughter of the former Hungarian international Annamária Polgár, who played for Suhl for three seasons and then probably settled in the region.

Especially somebody here assumed Dresden would have easy living against Wiesbaden, so I was right, that this is different.

I actually thought of writing here after the first two sets of the game that I had to take back my statement about the clear Dresden victory. After the defeat I had to digest the “shock” a little. But now of course I would apologize to you for the “hot take” statement.

As much as I am disappointed with Dresden's performance, I am also very happy for Wiesbaden. Thanks to their seasonal performance, Wiesbaden managed to make me forget their financial insecurities, at least for me. I just hope that they don't get into new financial difficulties if they win also the home game against Dresden.

Regarding Dresden, you have to say that they still lack that “crunchtime rip-off” that made them so strong in October/November. The game was close, but Dresden also had the chance to win the game, even clear from the pure set result.

Also Dornheim ended her career btw

When it comes to Helena Dornheim, however, it has to be said that, in contrast to the other two players, the article only talks about the end of her professional career. So you can at least hope that you might see them in the 2nd Bundesliga. So maybe she's taking a similar path to Lina-Marie Lieb. I would personally hope so.
